Written in 'honour' of our ex sil - commonly know as the ar****le.

Is it so difficult to conceive that those of us who met on GN from its conception will occasionally refer to shared experiences circa 2012 to quote kitty, it does not make us a clique or that we exclude newer members, it simply makes us old friends who have a history with each other.

The disrespect shown to Phoenix saddens me.

You are right ixion. I wonder where all the fun has gone. There isn't much on GN these days.

Lucca Sat 20-Aug-22 15:29:43

Great posts ixion anD kalu.

I joined just before Phoenix was chased off. So. Didn’t “know” her other than through her varied and amusing comments. So can’t be accused of being in a clique.

It’s been sucked out by the attitude of those who don’t appreciate it and some of those who provided the fun have consequently left. A sad state of affairs.

Chocolatelovinggran Sat 20-Aug-22 15:32:36

I am so disappointed to hear that the curse isn't guaranteed. I was making a list...

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 20-Aug-22 15:35:52

I am trying it right now. You never know your luck!

Chocolatelovinggran Sat 20-Aug-22 15:43:09

Excellent, GSM. Let me know how you get on.

Doesn’t necessarily give you a pass Lucca, you could be part of this imaginary clique by association. ?

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 20-Aug-22 15:55:33

It may be some time before I get to know whether it’s worked, chocs. I am quietly confident though.

I too was a great fan of Phoenix a lady (and I do mean that) who had more than her fair share of troubles in life but who still managed to bring humour into others lives and kindness and compassion. Her threads were always a joy to read.
I miss her a lot. Her final post on GN when she knew she was dying was another example of a very special lady still full of humour.

Please, please would all those who’ve posted any negative comment on this thread now go and read the Cursing the Gammon thread and then perhaps that will put this thread in context.
RIP lovely Phoenix

Pheonix and I were ships that passed in the night.

I joined when she must have become quite poorly, and she didn’t post that often.

I did know though, even as I total newbie, that she was incredibly well loved on here.

The one thing that I’ll personally remember is that she told me that, when she was young, her mum dated the legendary (and total babe) Jim Dale.

Bit of GN trivia there smile

I'd forgotten that, thanks for reminding us FannyC!

And she lived at Windsor Castle, I think.

JenniferEccles Sat 20-Aug-22 16:26:28

A slight change of topic if I may….. Someone mentioned on one of the Phoenix threads that Maw wasn’t on GN any more.
I really hope she’s just taking a break or possibly just been put on the ‘norty’ step. I do hope she hasn’t been driven off too.
Does anyone know?

FannyCornforth Sat 20-Aug-22 16:28:27

Did she? You can’t leave that hanging Kitty!

Callistemon21 Sat 20-Aug-22 16:30:03

Yes, I remember that, she did mention it in a post.

I have done several radio interviews, and had a rather cheeky conversation with Prince Charles at a dance when I lived in Windsor Castle, but definitely NOT famous!

I love Framilode's post ?

FannyCornforth Sat 20-Aug-22 17:02:22

Rachel was on R4’s You and Yours (or similar) shortly before her death, wasn’t she?

Kalu Sat 20-Aug-22 17:23:10

Yes, she was Fanny. Stoical and brave as she shared her experience of being terminally ill.

NanKate Sat 20-Aug-22 17:23:35

I miss Maw too Jennifer I hope she returns. I don’t know if she left by her own choice or if the Mafia were involved ☹️

JenniferEccles Sat 20-Aug-22 17:27:27

The latter I fear NanKate

kittylester Sat 20-Aug-22 17:30:46

Maw asked for her name to be removed after GNHQ wanted her to undertake not to post on any threads started by one particular member. She was not prepared to do that, understandably in my view

FannyCornforth Sat 20-Aug-22 17:46:00

Honestly, there is absolutely no such thing as ‘The GN Mafia’.
