I am often given good quality British/Irish teatowels, as I live out of Britain and they are easy to post.
Today, I was sorting them and had to smile when I realised how culturally-interesting many of them are!
I have one which shows the sweet dishes the ancient Romans ate; another is about Good Manners at Table; one is examples of Murphy's Law; one is Cockney English translated. Several show beautiful botanical drawings of flowers and fruit with the scientific names for all the different "bits". I used to have one with The Rules of Cricket on it (pure Irish Linen: it became almost transparent with time!).
Does anyone else have anything similar? Also, do you, like me, get stupidly fond of your old teatowels and find it hard to throw them out?
