I don’t read the articles but see the headlines, the poor couple must be seriously damaged by the constant attention and criticism they are receiving.

I’m not a fan but enough is enough surely!

Spotify, not Meghan chose the date of the podcast release.

The Cut, not Meghan, chose the date of the release of the article.

I have already given you the definition of the word optics.

You people are simply ridiculous in wanting Meghan to be the bad guy so badly that you think she has enough power to dictate what large corporations do.

Everyone needs a villain I suppose.

I imagine Meghan has no recollection of when Dianna died. Diana's sons appear to have not memorialized the anniversary, how would Meghan know?

Anniebach Thu 01-Sept-22 14:56:54

Perhaps as she lives with Harry he may have mentioned it

Smileless2012 Thu 01-Sept-22 14:59:30

I doubt that Norah and as Harry often refers to his mother and the way in which she was hounded to her death by the press in public, I should think he also discusses it with his wife,

Those who knew Meghan as a child have verified that she was fascinated by Diana, idolised her and was inspired by her compassion and humanitarian work which she tried to emulate. She apparently felt her death very keenly and cried when she saw footage of the funeral.

According to press reports from various sources.

Once or twice

Norah Thu 01-Sept-22 15:10:09

I was referencing the precise date. It was a long time ago.

I only read the crash date was approaching on the 30th.

By the news, 1 day prior.

I'd imagine Harry had told Meghan his thoughts on his mums death, but I'd not imagine a date fixed in Meghan's mind.

Perhaps I'm wrong, and people have calendars in their heads?

Chestnut Thu 01-Sept-22 15:12:01

Some here are very naïve to think that Meghan does not realise what she is doing. She is a very intelligent woman and very media savvy, and is fully aware of the royal calendar. There have been numerous occasions in the past where she has released something to coincide with a royal event. Even the Oprah interview went out shortly before the DofE died. How could anyone be so cruel as to say all those dreadful things while the Queen was going through that.

I certainly knew it was the 25th anniversary on 31st August and no-one had to tell me that. I'm sure Meghan is far more aware of the royal calendar than I am!

Anniebach Thu 01-Sept-22 15:15:03

She lies, and lies, and lies.

Norah Thu 01-Sept-22 15:15:33

It may be that I am totally alone in not noting dates, and assuming others are the same.

Noted for future reference.

I'm not a Meghan fan, I just see no reason to pillory her.

Callistemon21 Thu 01-Sept-22 15:15:35

Perhaps Harry forgot to mention it to her.

eazybee Thu 01-Sept-22 15:16:28

I think most people alive at that time (M was 16) remember the date and the year, as they do with President Kennedy's assassination,(I was 17) and Harry certainly commemorates it each year.

Did you just accuse her of orchestrating the Oprah interview because she knew he was going to die in a few days?

NotSpaghetti Thu 01-Sept-22 15:26:13

eazybee I think you are wrong.
I couldn't have even guessed the month, let alone the date! I'm sure my husband has no idea.
I will ask my adult children (same age as Harry/Meghan and see if they have any idea.

Some people (like me) ard totally useless with dates!
I know it wasn't winter but other than that - no idea.

Norah Thu 01-Sept-22 15:27:48

I just looked, I was 18 when JFK died. I don't remember that date at all. My recollection is fall after I had a baby.

This is all down to me, I'm not one for dates.

As I posted, I'm not a Meghan fan, I just failed to see the crash date as something she'd have memorized. Obviously I'm wrong.

Written as such.

He was very ill and the family were going through an anxious time, especially the Queen. I'm not saying she knew he was going to die, how could she? But her actions were unkind.

Official engagements to be undertaken by members of the Royal Family are published up to eight weeks in advance.

All available online.

We people are not so naive as to believe Meghan and her PR team have no say in the release dates of podcasts and articles.

We’d actually rather not have a villain. We’d rather wish she’d change the record and stop firing shots at the royal family.

I am totally astounded that adult women are sniggering like naughty teenagers about a magazine called The Cut.

Calendargirl Thu 01-Sept-22 16:18:26

And this year being the 25th anniversary of her death?

I should imagine the date is engraved on Harry (and William’s) heart, not literally of course, and am jolly sure Meghan and Catherine also, are very aware of the date, and what it means to their respective husbands.

Of course Meghan knew the date.

Jaberwok Thu 01-Sept-22 16:28:57

Which adult women? No one on here, unless I've missed it have eluded to anything, as for elsewhere? I really wouldn't know, but I haven't read anything sniggery at all anywhere. Meghan apparently thought the RF were exaggerating P.P's illness in order to prevent the Oprah interview , soon afterwards P.P died. Ummm! Again apparently they both adored him. Odd way to behave towards someone you adore, and mightily cruel to HM. But there you go,we all have different standards.

No idea what you're talking about. Who is sniggering and where?

MawtheMerrier Thu 01-Sept-22 16:51:03

There has (always, as far as I know) been a convention of announcements by members of the RF not being released on the same day. This would have been coordinated by their respective Communications Secretaries as a courtesy.
So, for instance, Meghan’s announcement of her pregnancy should not have been released to clash with (even overshadow?) Eugenie’s wedding day.
Meghan also contrived to “muscle in” on Camilla’s important address on violence against women despite undertaking not to “compete” with it. It was reported that Camilla felt her trust was betrayed as she delivered a speech on domestic violence, a subject she’s long been passionate about and it was felt Meghan had broken a pledge not to overshadow Camilla's campaign by having the pictures of her private visit to the National Theatre be published the same day.
Little things perhaps but “team players” abide by the rules , in this case out of courtesy.
There has been a lot of focus on the Queen staying on at Balmoral and the appointment of a new PM, but H and M “cannot” fly up to visit her in what seem to the rest of us to be her declining years. So is it all about Meghan again?
I think many Grans on GN would be very disappointed under similar circumstances and wonder why H who was said to be her “favourite GS” should be so apparently cool and distant.
Just saying.

Anniebach Thu 01-Sept-22 16:57:00

I was told by someone who knows the royals personally,
the Queen is very close to her first grandchild Peter Phillips
