? and welcome to you Wolwol enjoy your outdoor lunch today.

harrigran your day yesterday sounded wonderful. Your Savoy cabbage sounds right up my street. Yum.
Also finding a bottle of champagne in your cellar wow. ?

Grandmadinosaur enjoy Burton Constable we went last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. They had a delicious gluten free lemon cake I enjoyed from the little cafe. We enjoyed the Capability Brown designed bridge. Me being a bit thick always thought that was a woman. x

Sar your poor GD that sounds so painful. Hope they can do something at A&E today. No wonder she can’t sleep. How worrying.?

Wolwol Mon 29-Aug-22 10:01:12

Thanks, Shazza smile

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
I join you in tummy troubles Mick and hope you feel better.
I managed the Tudor exhibition even though I had pain from my stomach and bloating, but the Tudor exhibition was so good, it took my mind off it for a bit.
We then had an Italian meal. I had pollo Milanese and came back for an early night. If things don’t calm down, I’ll see the doc. The painful spasms have been quite something, but no sickness.
Quiet day then, frustratingly, and will read through later.
Have a nice day.

Hello and welcome Wolwol smile

Good morning Mick and all from the Angus coast. It's a solid heavy grey here today with no sign of it turning into a glorious day as it did yesterday. It's definitely autumn - the giant combine harvester was busy in the field just beyond my garden room windows until 11pm on Saturday evening - talk about the silence of the countryside grin. The baler will be here soon no doubt.
Like everyone I'm enjoying the tales from the cruises and all other holidays. Particularly the one in Carcassonne - have you read Kate Moss's historical novels set there?
Sorry to hear of sleepless nights and tummy upsets - hope at least 40 winks are had at some point today.
Nothing planned for today, but a busy few days ahead. Take care everyone and enjoy your Bank Holiday x

Urmstongran

Thanks Jax! I knew somebody on here would know. I just need to learn how to pronounce it when I get back and go searching at our local garden centre...
?

urms- it’s pronounced TRAD-ES-CAN-TEE-UH

Good luck Harrigran with the alternative (!) to your impressive menus tomorrow. Doesn't have quite the same attraction for me but it's aways good to ring the changes.

Good morning all from an overcast but warm day in Glasgow.

Sorry to hear you had such a bad night Mick and you too Marydoll. Rest up today to help catch up on some sleep.
GD2 was making herself a cup of tea yesterday and somehow managed to spill boiling water on her thigh! She is a tough little cooking and made no fuss as she was checked over at A&E also quite cheerful of the fact she can miss out on PE today.

A warm welcome to you Wolwol

Hopefully a pleasant day ahead for all.

Wolwol Mon 29-Aug-22 11:19:46

Thank you all for making me feel welcome ?

Good morning...Day 3 of Covid

Grammaretto Mon 29-Aug-22 11:49:01

That's very well pronounced Taichinan I was going to say
Tradish kantcha.
Welcome to Wolwol and your lab.

MawtheMerrier Mon 29-Aug-22 12:15:07

As a piece of useless information (but good for pub quizzes) the plant takes its name from the English naturalists and explorers John Tradescant the Elder (c. 1570s – 1638) and John Tradescant the Younger (1608–1662), who introduced many new plants to English gardens.
It explains the pronunciation too!

grandMattie Mon 29-Aug-22 12:21:46

I was going to say that, Maw, but felt it was TMI…. Interesting though.

MawtheMerrier Mon 29-Aug-22 13:23:35

“Useless “ random facts are NEVER TMI!

Grammaretto Mon 29-Aug-22 13:25:47

Sorry to acknowledge the wrong person gMattie . Of course you knew the plant.
I didn't know about John Tradescant Maw.
Every day's a school day on Gransnet grin
