What a lovely post to read this morning, AussiGran59! Thank you! I found Gransnet to be a lifeline during the pandemic and have continued to enjoy it since then. People are generally kind and supportive, especially on the daily Good Morning thread. Last Winter, I met one contributor who was on a walking holiday near my home in Devon. Other regulars feel like friends, too. Long may it flourish! ?

AussieGran59 Thank you for your kind words. I will say no more than that for fear of appearing either arrogant or obsequious.

Spice101 Wed 31-Aug-22 07:03:38

Well said AussieGran59 from another chilled (thank goodness winter is in it's last hours for this year) Aussie Gran

DanniRae Wed 31-Aug-22 07:08:32

MONica - why you could never be obsequious (BTW what does it mean?)

Gingster Wed 31-Aug-22 07:24:46

AussieGran59 I'm another who values M0nica's sensible, down to earth posts.
Glad you're enjoying Gransnet ?

BlueBelle Wed 31-Aug-22 07:29:29

Oh Monica don’t use such big words it’s too early in the morning I ve already accidentally rang someone I barely know goodness knows how that happened and I was in such a panic to turn it off I couldn’t do that either ?‍?
Yes great post Aussie let’s bring some sunshine and positivity back to GN

AussieGran59

Yes, Spice101, it’s been the coldest winter I can remember.
I won’t be so chilled out tomorrow. Having iron infusion and they can never find a decent vein. Not looking forward to half hour of pain. Somebody tell me to stop being a wimp, please? There are others far worse off, I know, but all that poking and stabbing really hurts doesn’t it. Sorry for complaining.

Aussie Gran - stop being a whimp! Just kidding, of course your problem may well be less than others but you are the one that has to deal with it. I guess it is only half an hour so fingers crossed it will not be too painful.

You are right about this being the coldest winter remembered - possibly also the wettest - but I'm sure the powers that be will tell us in the next day or so that the average temperature for the winter was higher than usual.

What a nice thread. So different from the criticism and unpleasantness of the last few days. I hope the infusion goes well AussieGran, and thank you for this thread.

Kalu Wed 31-Aug-22 09:46:22

What a lovely thread, thank you AussieGran. GN at what we do best. Hope todays ordeal isn’t too unpleasant. ?
DD2 and SiL who live in Brisbane we’re caught up in the dreadful floods there last summer, house completely submerged and she told me the forecast for this summer is more of the same!

Juliet27 Wed 31-Aug-22 09:50:01

What a strange year it’s been weatherwise. It’s as though the world has literally turned upside down with drought here in the north and your floods there in the south. Are you still having the effects of La Niña there?

AGAA4 Wed 31-Aug-22 09:58:47

It's good to see some posters bringing something positive back to GN. It has been hard going lately so Thank you AussieGran.

henetha Wed 31-Aug-22 10:02:44

Hello AussieGran. and welcome to GN. It's great, mostly.
Just two minutes ago I had a WhatsApp from my Aussie friends in Perth. Are you in WA? I like Australia and Australians very much. You are a cheerful lot. I hope you will enjoy GN.

Callistemon21 Wed 31-Aug-22 10:13:14

Thank you for a lovely positive thread, AussieGran, reminding us that Gransnet can be positive, kind and helpful.
I hope the iron infusion isn't too painful.

Kalu I hadn't realised Brisbane was expecting more of the same this summer. After the dreadful floods I know that many homes, even if not flooded, have had a damp and mould problem. Very worrying. I hope your DD and SIL are ok now.

AussieGran ask the hospital to use a child size needle on you. It's the only way they could get or give blood to my mom.
