When I had a look at Mumsnet a few minutes ago, there were 50+ threads shut down because of a troll/s. I really don’t understand why anybody wants to behave in that manner, what sad lives they must lead.
I sincerely hope they don’t target Gransnet next.

MawtheMerrier could be the thread monitor is reporting everything she has a problem with. I think she emails directly.

“Thread Monitor”: ?
I didn’t know we had one of these!

Elizabeth, do you mean Maw is reporting everything or are you replying to Maw?
I'm confused.

BlueBelle Thu 15-Sept-22 17:17:46

I believe they were reported Maw at least a couple had someone saying they were going to report and very soon after the threads disappeared

I hope the latter Marydoll - or I might be obliged to publish a formal denial! grin.

Well a thread wouldn’t disappear just because someone reported it. There would have to be substance to the report.

Elizabeth27 Thu 15-Sept-22 17:22:39

No, I did not mean Maw, sorry if you thought that.

Whew! Thanks for clarifying. I was shocked, when I first read it!

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 15-Sept-22 17:37:36

So who is this thread monitor sending emails? Not me either.

JaneJudge Thu 15-Sept-22 19:16:54

I can't help thinking of sewing threads when people mention thread monitors, like the safety controller of the threads #gutterman

BlueBelle Thu 15-Sept-22 19:20:30

Who is the thread monster is she/he appointed by HQ or self appointed ?
I m intrigued now

JaneJudge Thu 15-Sept-22 19:22:15

Is that an 'eats shoots and leaves' type of phrases, Elizabeth27? ?

Callistemon21 Thu 15-Sept-22 19:31:59

Ps could be a he!!

BlueBelle Thu 15-Sept-22 19:33:06

Not at all Janejudge cos I only ever report scams or unsolicited advertising

I think I ve only once in about 10 plus years reported a poster and that was she that flew when she called me a *wicked old witch” and I asked HQ to see if they thought it was justified

So my conscious is clear

Like the idea of a thread monster BlueBelle grin could solve all the problems.

MawtheMerrier Thu 15-Sept-22 22:18:48

I know the identity of the Thread Monster.
Here is their photograph - but don’t tell anyone.

Marydoll Thu 15-Sept-22 22:28:27

That's all very well Maw, giving us an image. We need a name!,.
As someone upthread has said, there is no way their name could be linked to their photo.
I might try Google reverse image and see what comes up! ?

Hope you are having une bonne vacance!

I'm a bit disappointed.

I imagined the monitor as a giant lizard.

icanhandthemback Thu 15-Sept-22 23:06:27

AskAlice, I changed my original name too as it was easy to identify me if you knew me. It just seemed like the sensible thing to do at the time. GNHQ let me so I assume my reason was good enough!

Very clever, MissA ?

Calendargirl Fri 16-Sept-22 06:41:23

Is the thread monitor a close relation of the ink monitor mentioned recently?

nanna8 Fri 16-Sept-22 06:51:21

I was a milk monitor in primary school but things got a bit sour after a while.

I post a bit on MN where name changing is allowed. Some posters are none too subtle- you'll have a disagreement with them on one thread and on the next thread you post someone with a different name but the exact same posting style will pop up and have a go at you.
They obviously think people are stupid.
