Topic borrowed from MN.

My husband and I have never worn slippers since we were young children.

Infrequently read books again and use my ebook only for holidays. Don't have a tumble drier, an air frier or an ironing board.

I frequently - not infrequently

Gas supply- I have a large oil tank (considered having gas laid on when we first moved into the house but the price for putting the supply pipes down our long drive was astronomical).

BBQ went after my husband died. It was no longer used.
Never had a fire pit,
Coffee machine (unless a cafetiere counts?)
No dog anymore. My two cats might object.

I use my dishwasher two-three times a week. More if I have guests. The 'experts' say it is more economical than hand washing.

What don't we have that others do? - Sky, Netflix or any of these broadcasting companies. BBC radio and the occasional TV programme is sufficient for us. Just want to say that in our tiny kitchen our dishwasher is invaluable to ensure a quick tidy up, the sterilisation effect providing peace of mind during the pandemic, and the daily challenge of loading it efficiently to keep its use to the minimum. It has an 'Eco' programme, whatever that means... and we use Ecover dishwasher tablets. I use gallons of boiling water washing dishes by hand, a brush and detergent but never get the dishes etc as clean as our dishwasher does.

We don't have
Central heating
Carpets
Alexa
Streaming service
Slippers
Those people who don't use a dishwasher obviously haven’t got a husband who thinks he still has a kitchen brigade helping when he cooks.

Helenlouise3 Mon 03-Oct-22 13:51:22

A dishwasher -apart from my husband and a floor brush. My daughter just said a clock. She's never had a clock in the house since she got married 15 years ago.

libra10 Mon 03-Oct-22 13:55:54

Alexa
dishwasher
tumble dryer

grandtanteJE65 Mon 03-Oct-22 13:56:45

No dish washer
No kindle or other e-books, but tons of books.
No land-line
No hair dryer (didn't know anyone still used them actually. Here they are considered bad for your hair.)
No fabric softener, I use vinegar when I wash woollies.
No car. We didn't need one when we lived in a city with good public transport, and decided that at retirement age it would be more sensible not to own a car when we moved to the country.
No BBQ
No expresso machine

There are probably other things too, but can't think of them right now.

Theoddbird Mon 03-Oct-22 13:58:43

Adding to earlier list... TV in bedroom, microwave, pressure cooker or carpets.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a fire pit ?

rowyn Mon 03-Oct-22 14:31:40

Tumble dryer - never had one

Any TV channels that you pay for

Smart meter ( Just succeeded in getting new ordinary electricity meter installed this morning; took me a year!

Any kind of window covering other than curtains and plain blinds in kitchen and bathroom

GreenGran78 Mon 03-Oct-22 14:32:57

Gadgets, all disposed of since my DH died. Except the electric can opener, which is very useful (though I don't eat much canned food)
Wine...which was also DH's department, as I don't drink.
Paid for tv
Dishwasher, though I would have loved one when there were 7 of us at home. Too much faff now there's just me.
My DD has a hot tub and a fire pit, but I wouldn't have a use for either.
Lots of other 'don't have's' because I lead a fairly simple life, and have downsized my possessions a lot, as well.
I practically live in my slippers, though, but will soon be donning the lovely warm Ugg boots my daughter sent me a couple of years ago. They are so cosy, inside and outside the house.

Missingmoominmama Mon 03-Oct-22 14:35:51

A tumble drier or microwave oven. A TV in any other room than the sitting room.

Cycorax Mon 03-Oct-22 14:36:48

Same here, although we do have a BBQ.

merlotgran Mon 03-Oct-22 14:37:30

Tumble dryer - It conked out six months ago and I haven’t replaced it.
Alexa
Lawn mower - I have a gravel garden.
Coffee machine
Fire pit - Gave it away when I moved.
Bath
A pond but it will be next year’s project.

Hellogirl1 Mon 03-Oct-22 14:43:54

Will someone PLEASE say what a fire pit is?

GreenGran78 Mon 03-Oct-22 14:48:29

Livey. My daughter's fire pit is a sort of large metal saucer on legs. There may be other designs. Used for sitting around a wood fire on chilly evenings, in the garden.

I'd rather just go indoors! ???
