Topic borrowed from MN.

My husband and I have never worn slippers since we were young children.

Dishwasher…..why bother when it takes longer to load/unload one rather than just do the job!!?

Fire-Pit….don’t know what one is!

Bar B Q…… all those years getting away from cooking over sticks in the rain…. and then go back to it ??‍♀️

En Suite…… took the west long enough to get the ‘po’ from the bedroom, then people go and put it back!!! Who knew!!

kittylester

Air fryer - tried it but they don't suit my style of cooking
Fire Pit
Dog

Dishwashers are much more economic efficient than washing pots by had and I wouldn't be without ours. And, I'm not lazy.

same as you kittylester. No tumble dryer or Alexa either.

Because it is more hygienic than handwashing, especially on the sanitise programme. Have you ever really looked at how mucky your drainer gets, especially the bit where the cutlery goes? That could just be way my DH washes up of course shock

No Alexa, Sky, Netflix or any other subscrption service.

No coffee machine. no airfyer, no BBQ

But I do have a firepit, present from one dd but not yet used

I am surprised at what some other posters don't have. I love living in a house with books, houseplants and cushions.

Automatic transmission - on the car, that is.
Netflix or a smart TV.
A pet - well, only dh.
Wooden floors.
An ipad.
An iphone.
Alexa.
Highlights.
Cruises - oh sorry, I suppose that's not at home.
A porch.

I could keep going. Didn't realise how deprived I really am! grin I do have slippers and an apron so I must be ok.

SachaMac Mon 03-Oct-22 18:31:01

Tv in the bedrooms
An Alexa or similar
Any form of electric mixer/whisk.
I’m with Kittylester on dishwashers, had years washing piles of pots up by hand when the DC were young but wouldn’t be without one now,

Air fryer

Nanatoone Mon 03-Oct-22 18:45:09

I’ve tried most things to be honest. I would not like to manage without the mod cons of life. The only thing I don’t have is a husband and there was only one of those for me in my life!

I’m so happy I got an air fryer though, my energy bills have now fallen below so called normal. So maybe energy bill inflation!

SachaMac Mon 03-Oct-22 18:48:09

I am now thinking maybe I should get myself a nice warm fluffy pair of slippers!!

A Smart TV. I want one, but present telly works fine so just can’t quite persuade myself to change. ?

Will someone PLEASE say what a fire pit is?

Dd and SiL have a fire pit - as far as I can see used mostly by SiL and other male friends to stand around with a beer in any chilly weather! Notably one Christmas Day when they had a houseful.
A BiL has a massive one at his place in France. There was a big family get together last late May/early June - evenings were still very chilly at first so we all sat around it wrapped in blankets while gaily knocking back the contents of BiL’s cellar.

Microwave, tumble dryer, full size freezer (we bought a small table top freezer a couple of years ago), food processor, dishwasher (well, I suppose I'm a dishwasher), barbecue, car, hair dryer, shower, Netflix and Amazon, no satellite dish, no video player or recorder, electric scales (bathroom or kitchen), pets

You can get 'sticks' from Amazon or Now (Sky lite) that convert a non-smart TV to a smart one if they have an HDMI slot in the back and you have a wireless network. If you like the idea, look on Amazon on Black Friday - they usually sell them for half price.

Witzend a fire pit is usually a large metal bowl on tripod legs roughly four foot across, where people light a fire outside to keep them warm when they sit out in cool autumn evenings. Some double up as barbercues

A washing up bowl.

Lauren59 Mon 03-Oct-22 20:13:16

Husband - Tried one out, didn’t like and binned.
Air fryer - I do have one, but it’s still unused in the box several years later.

Lauren59 Mon 03-Oct-22 20:18:52

I could start another thread about things I have but never use:
Dishwasher, cooker, air fryer, blender, pressure cooker, bathtub, spare bedroom, BBQ and 90% of items stored in the garage!

annsixty Mon 03-Oct-22 20:25:37

How do those of you without a hairdryer dry and style your hair?

Tamayra Mon 03-Oct-22 20:43:30

Microwave
Nasty bit of equipment as destroys all the good content of the food

NoddingGanGan Mon 03-Oct-22 20:46:37

How does it do that, please?

Greenfinch Mon 03-Oct-22 21:04:13

Hairdryer. Just wash hair in shower, rub dry and let it dry naturally.

Jaxjacky Mon 03-Oct-22 21:37:42

annsixty I’m with Greenfinch and do the same with my hair, have done for 20 odd years.
