Oh golly, soop! What a dreadful vaccine reaction for MrSoop!! Very worrying. I hope your GP reports it in the proper place. Best wishes for MrSoop's recovery ❤️

I have no further news of DD1 yet but I have had a long chat by phone with OtherGranny who has so kindly offered to put me up when I arrive. She and sil devised a plan to take me to see DD tomorrow afternoon/evening after I arrive from my long drive. She also filled in some details that sil had left out.

I knew I would not have the strength to drive after work today because although I enjoy filling in for my colleague (who is the usual cook), I'm pretty tired and achy after clearing up lunch's three courses and setting up for afternoon tea.

My leaving tomorrow morning also means MrB has the car this evening for the archery club at which he is coach. A couple of members were willing to come round the loch and get him in an emergency but it's a lot of extra driving for them.

soop, it's very sweet of you to organise a card. Thank you so much. And thank you to everyone for the outpouring of support and sympathy. The shock of DD1's tumour so soon after DD2's was possibly intensified by the fact that they have enjoyed such robust health all their lives.

kittylester Fri 07-Oct-22 15:08:42

Nice to see you post baggs. Oleate let usknow how you find your DD tomorrow.

I think you have hit the bail on the head with your moment about normal robust health. It is such a shock to the system - added to the worry of course.

Drive safely tomorrow.

Please add my name to the card soop and let us know how MrS is.

Tipping it down here!!

Oh dear soop I do hope you DH feels better when he wakes up - what a worrying time for you. Baggs - nice to hear from you snd stay safe on your drive tomorrow. ann how bad the system is that you are unable to be seen by a gp when in need - take things easy and look after yourself. Mr BA feels much the same but has set off from Glasgow (awful weather I believe) and he's going to see how he goes. So me and Duncan may have him home tonight or may not....TOYA

Baggs We all wish you a safe and uneventful journey tomorrow. You are wise to take to the road after a good night's sleep.
Bless "the other granny" for offering you a retreat. It will be a very moving reunion with your dear daughter. I hope that any tears will be of relief and joy.

It will be my pleasure to forward a card, together with the names of all well-wishers in it. I've ordered it, and it will take a few days to arrive. After which, I shall ask for your daughter's address.

Mr Soop hasn't stirred. He has barely touched his glass of water. I have never been more concerned for his wellbeing. I have reported his reaction to the Surgery. He isn't one to complain about anything...but...he says he feels lousy and unable to concentrate on anything, other than sleeping.

His blood cancer means that his immune system is compromised. His poor body cannot cope with both the flu and Covid vaccine.

Blossoming Fri 07-Oct-22 16:02:48

How worrying Soop. Maybe you should call 111 or whatever is your local equivalent for some advice.

gillgran Fri 07-Oct-22 16:10:03

Warm, healing wishes for Baggs daughter. Also for MrSoop, hope he recovers soon.
Take care, all of you visiting the kitchen, especially annsixty, kittylester, & others with extra worries & sadness to cope with just now.

Grannmarie Fri 07-Oct-22 16:35:38

Mr Soop must be needing that big sleep, I hope he wakes refreshed and restored to good health. What a worry for you, dear Soop.
So glad to hear that your DD's operation went well, Baggs, safe journey tomorrow.
Healing wishes for Annsixty and Kitty, hoping that you feel better soon. ??

Great idea to have a Kitchen card, Soop, please add my name and best wishes!

I have Granddog staying, DS1, DinL, DGS1 and DGD are off to Majorca for the school holiday! Need to get us both all wrapped up for a quick walk to the woods, it's very wet and windy today.

Just popping in (read every day but don't often post) to say good news Baggs. So very sorry to hear about Mr Soop, hope he soon feels better. Sorry also to read how poorly you have felt Anne, hope you soon start to feel easier.

brook2704 Fri 07-Oct-22 16:42:05

I agree with Blossoming, soop, if your dear Mr Soop isn’t feeling a bit better soon call 111 for advice - please!

So pleased that all has gone well for your DD Baggs, hope she’s now on the road to recovery and safe journey tomorrow

hulahoop Fri 07-Oct-22 17:02:44

Sorry to hear me Soop has had such a bad reaction like others have said ring 111 if you need to. Good idea about card your hand will be aching writing all our names .Ann hope you start to feel better soon .Kitty ice cream for breakfast (why not ) hope you enjoyed it .Baggs hope you have had some rest .

Baggs Fri 07-Oct-22 17:21:39

soop, I think MrSoop's reaction should be reported on the "yellow card" system that keeps records of adverse reactions to medications. This is the official page for reporting side effects and adverse reactions for coronavirus vaccines:

coronavirus-yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk

Safe journey tomorrow Baggs

dustyangel Fri 07-Oct-22 18:01:44

Ann if you are still in pain tomorrow, would it be a good idea to phone 111 as you can’t contact your surgery?

soop from what others are saying, it sound as if sleep is the best medicine for Mr.S.
It is very kind of you to arrange and send a card to all of us when you have so much else to think about.

Baggs, safe journey tomorrow and I hope the news is even better when you arrive.

Baggs Fri 07-Oct-22 18:13:12

I mentioned how healthy DD has always been, right? Well the latest from sil is that her team at the hospital think so too. Apparently if she carries on as she is doing she might be discharged tomorrow after an MRI scan!!

There is still some of the tumour left and that will have to be dealt with when they have researched what kind it is and how best to treat it, so this isn't the end by any means, but I am happily tearful at the news sil just sent.

annsixty, I do hope your symptoms ease or that you can get some help for them soon.

Hoping MrS is feeling better too.

Urmstongran Fri 07-Oct-22 18:24:47

‘Evening All’

Some better news in the kitchen this evening which is heartening indeed. I hope mr.soop is better soon - it must have frightened you soop to witness that event. You will be very apprehensive I expect Baggs on your journey south to your dear girl. We are all rooting for you.

Well we’ve just decided we’re off out for a curry. Himself must have already had his fill of my home cooking after getting home last night! Happy Days.

Safe journey Baggs.

soop Fri 07-Oct-22 18:42:07

Baggs Your daughter is, like you, "sparky". That's a true compliment.
I intend reporting the adverse reactions to the yellow card website.

Welcome Joane123. Not forgetting many newcomers who have ALL helped to lift our spirits.

annsixty and kitty, Us lot are looking forward to hearing that you are slowly but steadily recovering. flowers

Mr Soop surfaced at 5:30. He has decided that he may enjoy a bowl of cereal topped with banana. That is a positive sign. He remains in his pj's, but the duvet has been put away until bedtime.

It continues to blow a gale, and the rain has lashed down from dark clouds throughout the day. I did notice a fleeting "silver lining"...I dedicate it to all of you in need of special comfort.

Log off time. I shall return tomorrow and wish you all a peaceful evening. I may treat myself to glass of full-bodied red wine a little later. smile moon

kittylester Fri 07-Oct-22 18:50:09

Oh baggs, what brilliant news. I am so pleased for you.

Soop, glad to hear that McS has surfaced as you must be too.

DH is cooking a steak for his tea - the smoke alarm has just gone off. Hope my baked potato is OK.

Jaxjacky Fri 07-Oct-22 19:02:05

Better news in the kitchen tonight.
Safe journey Baggs although you’ll want a tardis, good news.
Better for you too kitty and Ann
Fingers crossed MrS is on the up too.

Yiayia4 Fri 07-Oct-22 19:06:11

That’s such good news Baggs safe journey tomorrow.
Healing thoughts Mr.S.
Take care Annegood your feeling a bit better.
Have a pleasant evening everyone.

Charleygirl5 Fri 07-Oct-22 19:09:44

kitty smoke alarms appear to be ultra sensitive as mine goes off almost as soon as I have switched on the hob and placed eg steak in a pan.

soop I do hope you have a better night's sleep now that Mr. soop is attempting to have some food and appears to be feeling slightly better. Judging from a friend's experience he will return to bed and sleep for Scotland.

Baggs I agree, your daughter is not out of the woods yet but she is halfway there. Drive safely tomorrow after a decent night's sleep. Such a relief for you.

I'm not a regular on tbis thread, but do read every day. Baggs I'm so pleased to read such positive news of your DD, she's doing so well. Just take it a step at a time and try mot to think too far ahead, that's been our motto through this year with our DD1's health worries.
soop I do hope your DH is now recovering, how frightening for you.
Dear Kittylester I'm sending you a big hug, it's been such a hard year hasn't it.

brook2704 Fri 07-Oct-22 19:55:38
