Not going to a street party isnt dwelling in misery grin. I am going to a football match tomorrow. I dont think those who arent going to a match are misery guts.

As long as they don't persistently tell you that you are wrong to do so! I'm guessing that would make you all the more keen to attend.

That is exactly my point Joseanne thank you.

Grany why don’t you start your own thread rather than hijack someone else’s? I say this in a kind way.

Why don't you just not bother about the posts you don't want to read and just ignore them?

There you go, a compromise, and we're all happy.

I say this in a kind way.

Mollygo Fri 07-Oct-22 09:23:09

I don’t see why Grany can’t post on here. You can always skip past her posts.
But I do wonder why she doesn’t start more threads complaining about the monarchy, where republicans could offer her more support.

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 07-Oct-22 09:27:48

Molly my point exactly, on his/her own thread it could run for weeks, rather than keep popping up on other threads, which some people including me ignore, she puts a lot of effort including different internet addresses on her posts, they would be better received on her own thread.

Anyway, that’s just my opinion.

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 07-Oct-22 09:28:26

Volver many thanks for your kind thoughts.

Anniebach Fri 07-Oct-22 09:28:28

I wonder why she doesn’t start a thread in support of a republic

volver Fri 07-Oct-22 09:32:26

Just wondering of anyone here has heard the phrase "preaching to the converted?".

Unlike many monarchists, republicans generally prefer to bring their message to people with different views, instead of just sharing their ideas with those they know will agree with them.

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 07-Oct-22 09:34:45

True

I'm just packing my cases to go and live in a Republic. Haven't decided which one yet. Probably North Korea. In the meantime...

it is no easy position

What's so hard about it? I'd love to know.

Well, for one thing, Charles can’t post his opinions on GN.

Unless, of course, he does, under an alias,

Wonder what his username might be?

Glorianny Fri 07-Oct-22 10:07:48

I don't see how a coronation can be on a Sunday. Isn't that the day all the Christians are supposed to be in church not stuck at home watching the head of their church getting crowned?
I know most people don't go to church now but wouldn't the really religious object?

As for Grany thank goodness some people still have ideas that challenge the establishment. Proof we don't all turn into reactionaries as we age.

Calendargirl Fri 07-Oct-22 10:10:56

It’s not a Sunday Glorianny, 3rd June 2023 is a Saturday.

Calendargirl Fri 07-Oct-22 10:11:32

So all the Christians can still go to church on the Sunday.

No answer to the question then?

It must be hard Volver, not being able to post opinions on GN.

Think you would find it unbearable.

I was just wondering if he or Camilla has joined, after causing a family rift by shedding most of his relations

Apparently there is trouble at t'castle because none of them have been invited for Christmas! They've never had to cook their own Christmas dinners before and are all squabbling about when to put on the sprouts.

Joseanne Fri 07-Oct-22 10:20:15

There's a thread all about faith and churchgoing on here Gloiranny. I think you'll find all the Christians supposed to be in church all agreed that we can worship God or whoever anywhere, anytime. So no, the really religious probably wouldn't object to its being on a Sunday, nbut if they want to show displeasure then that is their right.

Joseanne Fri 07-Oct-22 10:22:52

Don't worry about the Christmas Dinner Callistemon. All the banished ones in the shed are busy reading the sprout cooking manuals so as not to waste their produce!

Sorry thought somebody said Sunday. blush
Mind I don't think it can be a Saturday either. That's the day people spend worshiping at the temples of consumerism. Shop owners will not be happy.

FannyCornforth Fri 07-Oct-22 10:25:08

I know that it’s not rumoured to be on a Sunday, and I’m pretty certain that it won’t be, whatever time of year it is.
But if it were, I don’t think that it would be right, in that Charles is Head of the CofE.

Eeh they are just like the rest of us aren't they? Family row about Christmas after mum dies.

Sadly, I don't have 19 fancy houses and a jewelled hat to console me.

annodomini Fri 07-Oct-22 10:39:08

Guess when the Cup Final is scheduled to take place in 2023?
Yes - June 3rd.
If the rumours about the Coronation are true, someone hasn't been doing their homework.

25Avalon Fri 07-Oct-22 10:42:53

Grany doesn’t bother me as the op. It was me who first said Sunday as I mistakenly thought June 3rd was a Sunday. I was put right, however that it is a Saturday. In this country the coronation is a religious ceremony held in Westminster Abbey, so if it did turn out to be Sunday, I can’t see it should or could offend those of a religious disposition if I may phrase it thus.

I sure Prince William will be on the ball!

"Sorry, Pa, I can't come to your Coronation, as President of the FA I have far more important things to attend" ⚽️

"Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that"

And is the UEFA Cup Final on the 10th ?
