Football doesn’t come into my world so the only person I know who knows Tony Adams is my close friend. He went to her wedding.
Get her to tell him he's just a D lister. See what happens.
OK before you all pile in on me let me explain!
This is not my kind of programme but I know it is very popular and it is not compulsory so I watch something else, no problem with that, my local newspaper prints several articles about Strictly every day, again I don't have to read them so skip past them. What is really getting to me is the presenters on my local radio station seem obsessed with it. Every other item is about Strictly!
I listen to this station because it is the only local "talk" station rather than playing music all the time. I like to hear local news stories, local weather and traffic news. What I am getting is Strictly, local news story, Strictly, traffic news, Strictly, news bulletin, Strictly!!!!! It is driving me mad
Will now don my tin hat and hide behind the sofa!!

Tony Adams is very unassuming in real life. He'd likely laugh. His dance finishing in one nil to the Arsenal shows he can laugh at himself. I don't watch Strictly, not my cup of tea, but I saw that clip.
I am a big’ish Strictly Fan, did a bit of ballroom when I was younger, but even I am a bit fed up of it this year. Same old format and gushing from Claudia and Tess
I’m another who prefers to record it and ff the chatty bits . I’m not a fan of tess and Claudia and think Shirley is a bit sour faced this time and had celebrities she doesn’t like.
I am not bothered about the celebrity status of the contestants , only whether they are capable of learning to dance, and being able to perform. The members of bands and groups who appear to have no sense of rhythm or movement astonish me, as do those from a non-showbusiness background who pull out incredible performances.
Then there is Jayde.
"I can’t bear all this woke nonsense or whatever it is with same sex couples."
How very insulting and bigoted. Same sex couples do exist, you know, and thank goodness it's now acceptable (for those of us with a less narrow view) for them to dance together (as, of course, women always have done in the past)

Is it about entertainment. Dancing. Or political correctness!! ?
I think the word you're looking for is 'inclusivity'. Nothing wrong with that, surely?
Never watched. Never will. It’s bread and circuses to hide the reality of the situation we are in.
As a keen dancer, from tap to ballroom, folk, and latin american, looked forward to watching Strictly, but very quickly stopped watching as the dancing seemed to be not much of the actual dance but lots of extra twirls moves etc. I much prefer to dance myself when I can, listen to Radio 3 and leave strictly to those who want to watch.. For me it is a great time to do something else
Who are people expecting as contestants? The King?
That wouldn’t be very fair Volver as I’m pretty sure Charles is a bit nifty on the dance floor.
Look how he whirled Diana round, when she was wearing that choker in her hair instead of round her neck, many years ago I know.
Bet the viewing figures would rocket though.
Even a die hard republican might sneak a look.
I find Strictly to be a little too long and I get really bored by film of the contestants learning the dances. I do, however, quite enjoy the comic dancing as a break from the usual routines.
I expect I shall continue to watch the show unless there is a real dance on locally which we may decide to attend.

We don't want go be always wallowing in doom and gloom.
Or perhaps that's what makes some people happy, keeps them going.
???
go = to

It’s being so happy that keeps them going ?
It's either Strictly or economic situation!
Too much hype and ‘wokeness’, it’s no longer enjoyable. SB is blatantly biased and I’ve switched off for good since Saturday. The program has been ruined.
SB? Suella Braverman??
Well I never.. ?
Sad, really. I used to love Strictly years ago but I stopped watching when the whooping and shouting and emotionalizing (is that even a word?) got going. Now it's all about wokery and 'going on journeys' and Strictly curses and not enough about the dancing and the music. I say it's a shame because we could do with a programme like Strictly was once - not as it is now - to cheer us all up on a Saturday night.

I know just what you mean-I agree!
I LOVE dance and music but it does go on. I record the show so that I can whizz through and just watch the dances and listen to the fabulous musicians and singers too.
I can’t bear all this woke nonsense or whatever it is with same sex couples.
Budge up behind the sofa!
So glad to hear that someone else has the same opinion. When I first saw it I thought it would be normal ballroom dancing, but I can never recognise the steps, (except sometimes the Quickstep) and years ago I gained gold medals and used to go on outings with the dance school to watch the world champions demonstrate
We are not entitled to call a member of one of the biggest boy bands ever D list
I think they had 2 hits, possibly 3. That was 30 yrs ago. Hmm… yes D list at best.
Next year's line up then. The King, Ant and Dec, Alexander Armstrong (whom many people seem to like as a presenter, for some bizarre reason.), Richard Thingy who used to be on Pointless. Shirley Bassey maybe.
I for one would definitely watch again if Shirley Bassey took part.
Another one who records it and wizzes through the endless noise and chat. I love the dancing, but even wizz through some of that when the music is tuneless. How many of the "movies" did you recognise? Never heard of some of them.
Some of the “entertainment” value of Strictly is reading the posts about it on FB, Twitter and even on GN.
Like many others I record it and watch the dancing, especially the pro dancing, then cut to the marks. The ludicrous marking has its own entertainment factor. What one ‘celebrity’ gets away with is slated on another contestant’s performance.
The waffle, the backstories, the cheesy or nasty comments and the fluff whist waiting for marks is easily skipped.
Then I wait for the spoiler and read the comments about that too.
Oh the footwork!!!!.......it would've been novel to actually see their flippin feet whilst they're prancing around! We get an eyeful of swivelling backsides and hips/ crotch action but nil on the actual footwork! Then maybe Anton will criticise or draw attention to a good/bad bit.....and I'm left clueless about what he's on about?!? The costumes are ridiculous now I agree and the ott makeup if someone's doing Shrek/ etc for themed dances. I wish they'd all dress in same classical outfit for each discipline to level playing field and stop the annoying thicko Tess Daly banging on about how "luvvly" they all look...... I've stopped watching now it's all a massive very expensive flop for me now........
