Good morning from E Kent.
All the best for your tests etc., Mick.
Mostly quiet day yesterday. DL’s friend manages to persuade her to do all sorts; she is very persuasive and strong. I think DL accepted her advice to buy that flat despite not having visited. A bonus is that the owner has agreed to rent it until her own house is sold!
We are waiting in all day for the Social Services to visit and assess her needs. It means that I shall probably miss my T’ai Chi class, which is a shame.
I am finding DL very tiring as she is either on the phone or has visitors. I have to factor in extra meals/drinks for them. I normally have very few of either.
Starting on Wise Men now. It’s fiddly but I’m enjoying it more than I expected.
May today bring only good things. Carpe diem. ????

Good morning from Torbay where it’s cloudy but mild.

Yesterday the sun shone all day and the funeral was wonderful with some heartwarming tributes paid to the lovely lady whom we were honouring, including from two of her grandsons, 17 year old twins, who had sent a video message from Australia! The church was packed and joining in with the hymns being sung by such a big crowd was uplifting.

Afterwards, it was a joy to reunite with members of the church, some of whom I haven’t seen since I left eight years ago. Luckily, I had travelled there by bus so could enjoy the wine being offered at the wake.

In the morning, I was saddened to hear that one of my favourite members of our theatre company had died. The dear man was 90 in August and was still directing six months ago and Treasurer up until last year. He was a real character, being a talented actor and a gifted raconteur with a sharp wit. But he was immensely kind, too.

Mick: I think the word you want could be anaesthetist.

I love the fact that the holy family is in a warm place, grandMattie. Please take care of yourself - let's hope your DL can move out asap!

Enjoy your day, if possible! ?????

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. 8°C currently but the fierce wind has gone.
Oh dear Mick I hope you can have the operation soon and get back to your usual fitness.

How long will DL be with you gMattie ?
It must be a strain but it hasn't prevented your superb knitted nativity. I don't know how you do as much as you do. What is your secret?

I was weary after showing would-be tenants the granny flat.
Most are postgraduate students straight from Africa who are freezing. It's only October so I don't think they will survive the winter here.
They also didn't know how far it is from their university.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all from the Black country dark outside but a lovely clear sky.
Early start today car in for service and mot we shall go for breakfast after dropping it off then into Birmingham for a wander around.
Morrocan style chicken in slow cooker so a fairly easy day as regards cooking.
Loving the nativity scene I shall say it again you are one talented lady grandMattie
Hope Urms arrived safely and I do believe it's her LWW day enjoy.
Have a good Tuesday everyone and may you all find some ?.

Morning all from a dark West Oxfordshire. I peeked through the curtains and it is misty. The funeral we attended yesterday also went well. The vicar was taken ill at the last minute but a replacement was found. This was the church I attended for 30 years and is a five minute walk from my house. I left for various reasons and now go somewhere else. It was nice to be back though and see some familiar faces. Today I will catch up on laundry, shopping and ironing. Have a good day everyone.

Abitbarmy Tue 18-Oct-22 06:48:41

Good morning everyone from a dark but dry North Yorkshire. A quiet day ahead as DH has gone off for a long walk up a very big hill with his DS. Shall get more done in the garden and the allotment and the last of the bulbs planted hopefully. Might look at making some Delia mincemeat as some grans have been doing. grandMattie you are a saint. Wishing everyone a calm and worry-free day.

Beechnut Tue 18-Oct-22 07:03:06

Good Morning everyone from dark Severnside. A nice day is forecast.

I’m swimming this morning and then I’ll spend most of the day in the garden.

Sounds like a nice meal you’ll be having today monk.

Lovely crafting Mattie as always.

I came late to your lovely news yesterday Marydoll . We were married for many years before we had DD. I told my mum we were trying for a baby and when I saw her a week later she had knitted two cardigans. She carried on over the years so I had plenty of knits by the time Beechnutella was born.

Have a lovely day all ???

GrannyGravy13 Tue 18-Oct-22 07:15:50

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. It is a dry start.

Yesterday I got a reminder from DIL that we were minding the GC around teatime as they were going to parents evening at school. It had slipped my mind so had to delay our evening meal. Anyway all was good about GS and his progress.

Coffee morning today and goodness me I need it. The ladies always cheer me up. The situation with DH is taking its toll on me. It will be rolling on for another 2 or 3 weeks at least. After lunch I want to go to the M&S food hall nearby and then we’ll have GS after school.

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 18-Oct-22 07:22:20

Good morning from a Misty Oxfordshire, at last you have a definite date Mick that will hopefully start the other appointments being unchanged.
Not a lot to do today, apart from upstairs as MissOops was sleeping and I didn’t want to crash around over her head. She continues to improve, so different to her other knee last year, for which we are all so grateful.
GM let’s hope your visitor is soon on her way, it’s unfortunate that her visitors expect to be fed and watered.
Hope everyone has a good day and that the sun comes out.

Pittcity Tue 18-Oct-22 07:23:29

Good morning from soon to be sunny Colchester. It's chilly now but set to be a nice day.
DH's walking clothes are in the machine and will be hung out before I walk into the City centre to volunteer at a charity shop for a few hours.
Love to all ? x

Good morning everyone from a cloudy but dry north Kent.

Not much planned today; a haircut this afternoon to make myself look reasonably presentable. Will have a walk into town this morning and come back via the seafront; might even manage a coffee just to add to the excitement!

Hope you all have a good day

mumofmadboys Tue 18-Oct-22 07:28:16

Good morning everyone from foggy Wiltshire, a murky start to Tuesday here.
Off to crafts this morning, DDog has the dog walker. DD stayed last night, she’ll be leaving early I think.
Have a lovely day everyone x

Stilllearning Tue 18-Oct-22 07:31:32

Morning from a very chilly S Lanarkshire. Up early this morning as I’m off again to help Oban daughter with childminding. I’ll be in total charge so I hope I can manage the log burner etc! DGS is a sensible lad so I shall have a right hand man. 3 dogs so definitely plenty of exercise and as long as it stays dry, in beautiful surroundings.

I’m travelling by bus as the trains are still unreliable and subject to last minute delays or cancellations. I prefer the train but the journey is lovely either way.

Good news about your DL’s new apartment grandMattie and that you don’t have the worry of her stay being extended, it can’t be easy.

Wishing everyone the best of days especially those facing extra challenges ???

cornergran Tue 18-Oct-22 07:36:05

Morning Mick, morning All from a dry corner of Somerset.

In between frustrations yesterday enjoyed chatting twice to a good friend. We’re having a short break together and as designated trip organiser I needed to involve them in the frustrations. We got there. Our friends have a large, supportive family all living within fifteen minutes, when we chat it makes me realise what a positive difference that makes day to day.

Quiet one here today. A friend has some cooking apples to share along with some legal papers I need to copy. Not sure what else. Our goddaughter will update on her Mum who is quite unwell and may not be able to transfer to an excellent care home as planned. I’ve an uneasy feeling..

Take care everyone. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

brook2704 Tue 18-Oct-22 07:39:05

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s just getting light and looks dry.
We had an easy journey home from Edinburgh yesterday, I had a really lovely time but I’ll miss seeing DS for a while. I’ve nothing planned for today but I’m hoping to get some much needed gardening done if I can. DD2 and family are all away at a holiday park this week so although it’s still school holidays here I’ve not got any childcare requests
Safe travels momb and everyone else travelling today
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

ShazzaKanazza Tue 18-Oct-22 07:44:36

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull.

Mick what a lot you have going on and sorry to hear you are still losing weight.

grandMattie your friend is very lucky to be surrounded by so many people looking after her. Love your knitted nativity you talented lady. ?

Our little family arrived home from Morocco at 5.30 this morning. DD and SIL will be exhausted. They are bringing the girls over this afternoon and they can go and have a sleep in a spare room and we will entertain the little ladies. They will all stay dinner I’ll do their favourite curry.

This morning I’m taking Mum to her caravan for another week. It closes at the end of the month so she wanted a last week there.

Hope today goes well and thoughts to those struggling with stress and illness. ??

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

Had survey for solar panels yesterday but not sure what to make of it. The lad who came looked about 12, of course was probably in his 20’s.
The students are back here now after the summer break and they all look about 12!

Walking in the woods with friends this afternoon a coffee afterwards at the excellent cafe.

By the way forgot to congratulate marydoll yesterday. Such wonderful news. I too waited a long time for our first to appear.
Take care everyone.

Wyllow3 Tue 18-Oct-22 08:01:32

Morning all from S Yorks where its going to be another sunny day with these lovely colours.

Its a light session at the gym then an assessment appointment in the afternoon.

Bests for the the appointment, Mick, and granMattie it must be very tiring indeed. that was a very special day, Ashcombe.

Safe travel, travellers, hope miss oops continues to improve as I hope Greyduster's little one does.

Greyduster you were walking in my "best eva" place yesterday! I've known the cafe owner for 10 years.

Urmstongran Tue 18-Oct-22 08:01:34

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from Malaga! It’s warm but not sunny. Looking out the Mediterranean is a pale grey wash which just melds with the sky. No sharp horizon. Ah well, it’s mild and we’re here! We left Manchester in a taxi at 2pm yesterday and we were sat in Pedro’s at 9pm on the dot, so allowing for the ‘hour forward’ for Spain it takes us exactly 6 hours - door to door. I enjoyed a G&T and some pinchitos de pollo y pan. It’s so nice to be back in our happy place.
?

I will be pottering this morning. I want to put away my swimsuits and sarongs. I bought 3 new hair bands from Accessorize in the airport - handy for windy days or ‘bad hair’ days! Then of course it’s LWW ?? at 2pm with a wash and blow first with Laura at the hair salon below us. Can’t wait!

Himself has just made me a second cuppa so I shall now enjoy reading all your doings. Good luck today Mick I hope your assessment appointment goes well. Enjoy Tuesday all who can. x

Greyduster Tue 18-Oct-22 08:06:52

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny South Yorkshire. Good luck with the exercise bike Mick - imagine it’s the Tour de France and you’ll be okay! I am going to have a recce this morning to see how long it takes me to get to a hospital where I have an appointment this week. I have never driven myself up there - DH always drove so I shall have to allow a little extra time. Its near a large garden centre and retail outlet, so a chance for a coffee - if I get there! Hope to do a bit of garden tidying this afternoon if it’s not too cold.
Ash, a sad time for you at the moment.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Marydoll Tue 18-Oct-22 08:07:15

Good morning all from a dark Glasgow, but at least it is dry after days of rain.
Glad to hear your stomach issues have settled Mick and you are out and about again.

Firstly, thank you all for your good wishes yesterday, it meant a lot to me. I'm shell-shocked, because I had resigned myself to having only ever having one grandchild.

Yesterday turned out to be a surprisingly pleasant day.
There was a funeral taking place in our church yesterday. The deceased lady had eight grandchildren and much to my surprise, I had taught seven of them! They had all become big strapping men!
It was so amusing to see their reactions, when they spotted me, they were quite taken aback.
Let's just say, I spent a fair amount of time, out of class with them, as they could be quite challenging. In saying that, they seemed pleased to see me.

Then the sacristan informed me that his sister in law , an old school friend, was at the funeral, and she popped in to see me. It was lovely to see her, after so long, so a coffee date has been arranged. Borrheid will be wondering, who it was! ?

Finally our catch up dinner was a great success too, we have been friends for over thirty years, so are very comfortable with each other. Also, we invited DIL's mum, who lives next door to me. We felt it would be unkind, not to ask her and anyway, her husband is the local curtain twitcher, misses nothing! We would have been spotted!

As we were leaving, someone called my name. Yet another ex pupil and her mum. She was a great favourite of mine!
Her mum is in the same position as me, having had all her RA meds stopped, because of their toxicity.
It was so good to talk to someone, who understands the enormous, negative implications of it all.

Today, I have the optician's and the doctor's. I have a cunning plan. I shall go to the optician's, leave my car in Paisley Town centre and jump on a bus to the doctor's. That way I will avoid the roadworks and the stress of trying to park.
I may manage to cram in a little retail therapy, since DH isn't coming.?

GM, you have a lot on your plate and must have the patience of a saint. I may be wrong and don't want to offend, but your friend seems to be taking advantage. Remember to look after your own wellbeing too.

I haven't read all the posts, so I shall go back and read them.

Hope Urms landed safely!
Wishing you all a good day.
