I'm going to post this then go and make soup or something.
The protestors are trying to draw attention to the fact that the powerful, governments and so on, are doing next to nothing about mitigating climate change. We have had all kinds of protests in the past, and yet still the government are granting new licences to Oil and Gas companies and paying lip service to the "net zero" idea.
By making people think they are defacing works of art they are drawing attention to the cause. Would we all be talking about it if they had a picket outside Shell, or BP? No, we wouldn't. But make a mess of the waxwork of the King, and oh my, people are outraged.
I don't agree with the bridge protest and I didn't agree when they glued themselves to an underground train a few years ago. But I don't call them idiots or anything like that and I have sympathy for their cause. I do however, think it can be counterproductive to affect transport because they antagonise the public who then won't take time to understand what they are protesting about.
But as far as I'm concerned, they can glue themselves to as many bits of perspex in art galleries as they want to, in order to raise awareness.
Anyway, it will stop tomorrow. It's an October Protest.
