I cant be trusted around crisps and chocolates! I bought a tin of Quality Street last week, I am trying hard to be good, so why would he (hubby) say “Coo, you've done well, you’ve not opened the QS”. Why, oh why, oh why lol (they are calling me from the high shelf in the cupboard, but I am going to resist). I’ll report back.

Save a purple one for me!!

I used to always buy a tin of Roses when the family were still around. First year on my own I ate the lot so just avert my eyes when I pass them in the supermarket now.

Lilypops Wed 02-Nov-22 16:55:38

Same reason I won’t buy one till a couple of days before Christmas. I know what I am like , Stay strong Kateycrunch !!

I just stopped buying them. Self inflicted temptation is something I can really live without.

ShazzaKanazza Wed 02-Nov-22 17:10:21

I said to hubby I like Quality Street so he bought 2 tins🤷‍♀️

Redhead56 Wed 02-Nov-22 17:30:41

I bought four tins of them on offer at Tesco but I will not open them. I don't want to go the dentist.

I think the quality of Quality Street has deteriorated over the years, they no longer seem to use good chocolate . I don't buy them any more prefer a small amount of dark chocolate.

I bought some fudge, to eat at home after our short break away.

I lasted until we were on the coach home, then just had to have a taste. Where did it all go? 🤔

LucyLocket55 Wed 02-Nov-22 17:51:28

Can’t have tins of sweets in the house, they call to me. Often I could cope and wouldn’t touch then but all it takes one bad row or family upset and I’m there stuffing my face. I’ve also had to go and buy a new tin so no one realises what I’d done. Nowadays, not allowed over the threshold. Know your enemy.

Aveline Wed 02-Nov-22 17:51:40

Oh I do like Roses. I managed to walk past the tins and boxes in Tesco yesterday but can't guarantee to maintain self control.

Yammy Wed 02-Nov-22 18:22:50

I used to eat all the chocolate sweets not given out at Halloween until one-year one pulled out a huge filling that ended up as a crowned tooth.
Now I buy the softer ones. They still disappear.
I am actually worse with Pringles I buy them for the GC and only half come out of the cupboard and the others disappear somewhere.hmm

Oldbat1 Wed 02-Nov-22 19:45:28

One year I also secretly ate a whole tub of Roses Chocolates in the run up to Christmas. Did I feel guilty? NO I enjoyed every one.

Bellanonna Wed 02-Nov-22 19:56:18

Save me a green triangle, please, katykrunch. I don’t dare buy the tins any more. I don’t trust myself.
There’s a similar thread about a missing Smarties tube.

BigBertha1 Wed 02-Nov-22 22:28:40

I could resist AS and Ro ses but not Ferraro Rocher or Hotel Chocolat so I won't be buying those until Xmas week

Oh so true.

Better not in the house.

Oh the temptation to pop in the car round to the little Sainsbugs full of goodies...superb selection snacks and chocs and biscuits..mmm let me see now that's closed but there is the 24/7 hour garage....

Seems I am the odd one out here! I still have an almost full tin of Celebrations chocolates which I bought for Christmas last year - bought because my sister in law loves them but has been on a diet for the last year. (However, I would fight you for a packet of crisps!) grin

hollysteers Thu 03-Nov-22 08:56:34

Yes too tempting.
My weakness, Jaffa Cakes. Don’t buy them now as eat the whole packet in one go.

Granmarderby10 Thu 03-Nov-22 09:11:11

Oh the shame! Katykrunch. Guilty secret: My Mum always bought BIG tins of QStreet and the other ones. Put them in the bottom of her wardrobe hidden amongst long coats and stuff. The tins were firmly and intricately sellotaped shut but we’re “calling my name” I was not deterred and carefully slit the sellotape and taped it back up after selecting a my favourites. I was about 10 or 11.
The proper tins were deeper and nicer then and came in useful.
AussieGran59 yes all individual choccy bars have shrunk and Mars Bars are now nothing more than Milky Ways in a different wrapper. Trust me I am something of an expert.
This “shrinkage” is supposed to be for our own good, nothing to do with …erm profit then 🫤

Pittcity Thu 03-Nov-22 09:16:22

I don't buy them as I have no self control.
I've heard that they're taking the Bounty out of the Celebrations .... sacrilege!!

Merryweather Fri 04-Nov-22 03:23:57

I too am useless at keeping chocolate for any period. They sing my name, constantly calling and teasing me. It's most unfair.
Heroes, celebrations and roses galore can be consumed in eye-watering quantities. But, then instead of eating a proper meal, I don't, to win back a few calories and fat grams.
So, so naughty. I'm helpless.

I’m a chocoholic too. Aldi’s hazelnut milk choc bars. I tell myself they are good for me because they contain whole hazlenuts.Who am I trying to kid ?

HiMay Fri 04-Nov-22 11:17:06

The chocolate cravings bypassed me! I have no desire for chocolate at all and am not tempted by it in the shops. I buy it for DH, who LOVES it. I don’t know anyone else who feels like this. There might be a genetic link? My parents didn’t buy it either🤷🏻‍♀️
