Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark outside and cold plus looks like fog as well because I can see a reflection of the christmas lights which are on trees by the town hall here in brackley.
Today , usual trip to Bicester, and then return and have some lunch, before I relax this afternoon.
Take Care,
Mick

Good Morning Wednesday 30th November 2022
(77 Posts)Good morning from a chilly, dark E Kent.
I think yesterday was successful as DL came back full of all the measurements and style of leg she will be given. Projected for late December, but I suspect won’t be of use until well into the spring.
I had a very pleasant hour at a pub in Deal, on the sea front. Indifferent meal as my friend is coeliac and needed to know she wouldn’t be given gluten….
Today, I’m going to the service after which our resident, retired bishop (of Durham), is taking a short Advent series of talks and discussion. I shall go throughout Advent, if I enjoy this first one.
I spent some time writing my Christmas letter yesterday. I feel better for having done it. It won’t be emailed for sometime, as I need to sleep on it, but it’s done.
I hope today will bring comfort and contentment to everyone, the poorly and the well. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️🦩
Good morning Mick and all to come. It is indeed pitch black outside and judging by the speed Rosie came in from the garden, a bit nippy. Glad I have no plans to be driving if it is foggy, I hate that. What am I doing awake at sparrow fart? I have been wondering too, but have been reading since about 4, put a load of washing on and now made myself a cuppa. I'll feel rubbish later!
Zoom Opera Plus this morning then (saying this for the umpteenth time) the Christmas cards this afternoon. I might finish them in time for the current postal strike to be over too! With kind thoughts to all with health or family worries and wishing you all a pleasant day.
Good morning, it’s another damp start here in Wiltshire but thankfully not the thick fog that descended early yesterday. It didn’t lift all day so DD stayed another night rather than drive home in the dark and fog.
I had physio; basically my ankles are arthritic and I now have a walking stick 🙄😊. Definitely getting old!
Not much planned for today; I need to start thinking about Christmas I guess (zero enthusiasm), no idea what to buy anyone.
I have told DH I’m not cooking turkey, I don’t like it and after 45 years of Christmas turkey I want something different (I’d be happy with cold meats and salad with a jacket potato but he wouldn’t be!). Maybe duck? Or beef?
I hope your day goes well x
Good morning, s somerset is pitch black outside my house. Hoping for something a tad brighter than yesterday, which was miserable fog, dank and cold all day
I was up at 5 and have continued with savings account jiggling. Trying to get savings into a better interest rate than the paltry rate I had. So far so good and almost finished
Natter group this morning and back for a hot meal, salad is out of the window, for now
Good morning all from a still and dry Torbay.
It sounds like you feel better for being away from DL for a while, grandMattie. Writing your Christmas letter can’t have been easy but it’s a good job done. Like you, MawtheMerrier, I keep thinking about writing the Christmas cards but actually starting is a different matter!
We enjoyed seeing a few Toads friends at our theatre yesterday. One gave me a beautiful poinsettia which was kind but it is not a plant that thrives with me! A panto is being produced next week so we've signed up for Front of House duties for a matinee, with DH as Manager and me as a ticket distributor. I normally love being a steward but don’t quite have the stamina required yet. Distributing pre-booked tickets is a job for the more frail members….!
BlueBalou: last year we spent Christmas with my DD2 who served chicken and gammon which was greatly enjoyed by all.
Wishing everyone a happy hump day! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
Good morning everyone from Severnside. It’s very dark and I’m hoping it’s not foggy as I have an early physio appointment. I’ll then get the BP monitor back to the surgery.
I’m thinking I might do a venison casserole BlueBalou. (That’s if I will be on my own at home).
I’ve got to gather up some bits today for crafting and finish off a job for my brother.
Have a good day all 🍃🍂🦩
Good morning all.Looking forward to a day at home except for driving a friend to the station in Penrith. I may make our Christmas cake or start looking at the Christmas cards. Need to get a move on with Christmas preps! Have a good day all especially those under the weather.
Good morning everyone from a still dark Northampton, dry outside, but no fog. Up early as I needed to do a Covid test before book club this afternoon, and also take my weekly alendronic tablet. Just set the timer on my phone for 30 minutes then I can make some tea. Have a bit of a sore throat which has been brewing for a few days, so keeping my fingers crossed!
Had a good walk yesterday afternoon with the group, followed by coffee and chat in the little cafe. Couldn't face walking home so got the bus!
Then two unexpected phone calls when I got home, one from an old friend, and then a few minutes later from my DSis. DSis was to tell me that she is going into hospital today for an endoscopy, so of course I wished her well and that I hoped nothing untoward was found. My Dfriend and I had a long pleasant chat, and tried to fix a date to meet for lunch, but looks as though it will be at least a month; they are off to Hong Kong in January to stay with family, and I am exploring New Zealand in February.
Will take this morning slowly; may even get the Christmas card box out to see if I need to buy any more, (I'm planning on writing them on Saturday), then it's Book Club after lunch, our last meeting of the year. I'm hoping there will be cake!
It's DD-out-law's 50th birthday 🎂 today

, so need to send her a nice greeting. We are all meeting for afternoon tea on Sunday to celebrate.
Wishing all a pleasant last day of November.
PS, my Covid test was negative!
Good morning all from a still dark North Leicestershire.
Not a lot happening here for - a change. DH is going to the gym then to pick up a new pre lit Christmas tree from Waitrose.
Wishing you all a good day.
Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s just getting light, another warmish day here is forecast
A bit of a quieter day today as we’ve had a really enjoyable couple of busy days. On Monday Nerja was beautiful and warm in the sunshine and we enjoyed looking round. Yesterday we ticked off my bucket list trip to the Caminto del Rey, I’ve always wanted to do it and it was absolutely stunning. A gorgeous sunny day with the most spectacular views and a very scary walkway. After we’d finished we celebrated with a meal in a gorgeous scenic hotel. And then back to Malaga on the train, it was quite a long day but very much worth it.
We’ve no plans yet for today, I’m reluctantly putting a few things back into our suitcase for our journey home on Sunday.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Great photos Brook.Looks beautiful
Good morning Mick and everyone from Hull.
Wishing your DD out law a happy 50th BlueSapphire 🎉
I only send cards out now to those who send to us I’m really trying not to send any and would rather send a message. Less in the bin. I have some at the ready for when they start arriving. I remember the days writing cards late into the night. DH has never written one and he couldn’t understand how I could write 100 cards.
I’m dropping him off in Beverley this afternoon where he’s meeting 12 gym buddies for a few drinks and a meal which will go on into the evening.
I’m going to call in to mums and do her hoovering. Her knee is still bothering her as nothing is working. It’s strange to see her walking with a stick. While I’m there we will do a video chat to my sister as it’s her birthday today. She’s loving life as her new mail order husband has arrived from America. Don’t ask, long story 😂 but as long as she’s happy.
Hope everyone enjoys their day today. Thinking of those who are weighed down by stress and illness 🌻🌻
brook the pictures are stunning I really want to go there. I will add that to my list of places to visit x
Good morning from S Hants, from what I can see it’s overcast. Christmas cards written, 2 stamps short, annoying.
I’ve got to make stuffing today, I’ve been putting it off when it doesn’t take that long.
Our heating system was flushed through yesterday after the new boiler was fitted 10 days ago, it’s made a difference.
I hope GD is recovering well.
Enjoy your day 🦩🦩
Here’s Matt.
Good morning everyone from a dark south Manchester. It’s dry and our forecast is for 8°C. Goody, as we are getting the train into Manchester Oxford Road after lunch. We are meeting two of Himself’s brothers and their wives in a an old city pub which is a favourite of us all. One of his brothers is older than Himself and t’other is the baby of the family. He was 11y when I first started courting Himself. Memories eh? I remember him sitting next to me reading jokes from his comic when I first went to their house. I shall remind him of that today.
The brothers get on really well and they are all very quick witted so listening to them bat off one another round the table is great to see - just like old times when they all lived Arroyo home with their mam and dad - six kids and 2 parents in a council house. It was a bit of a squish - no-one had their own bedroom of course and my poor mother in law cooked meals for eight adults every night for many years. I just couldn’t imagine peeling that many potatoes every day for big hearty appetites. And the washing of bedding! I know she didn’t bother ironing the sheets before they went back on all the beds ... aargh! There was always laundry to be done.
#lazygran
Our lives are so different (thank god).
I popped into Sainsbury’s yesterday for a jumper to wear, I needed a plain one. I saw a ‘v’ neck in an oatmeal colour. Nice and soft but didn’t have my size. Only one and it was a size smaller... you’ve guessed it! My new size since I’ve lost weight yay! I shall wear it with smugness today.
😊
Your comment about Rosie dashing in from the garden first thing made me laugh Maw! Have a good Wednesday all who can. I’m not going to preview this post as I’ll be horrified at the length of it and how much I’ve wittered on ... so much for ‘where you live and what’s the weather like’! Ha!
*at not bluddy Arroyo!
Morning Mick, morning All from a clear, cold corner of Somerset.
Busy one yesterday and the same today. Nothing exciting but a few ticks on the ever growing list. Christmas bits and bobs are installed here, no traditionalist they are always out early as the lights cheer me and then usually disappear quickly after 25th.
Need to get a wriggle on as we’re assured the remedial work will begin at our neighbours - early. Best be dressed just in case. This key holding lark has its down sides but they are good people and we’re pleased to help them. Grocery delivery too, dust removal followed by a GP practice meeting after lunch. .
Take care everyone. Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.
We put the tree up last night as hubby away today overnight fir a job in morecombe. He’ll be away tonight and I will be home alone rare treat. Tv dinner early night after long day at work and parents evening tonight at work. It’s cold and dark here in the NE. Dreaming of lighter days. Good day wished to all.
Good morning all from East Yorkshire. It’s dry and Alexa said 1 degree when the alarm went off. I’m nice and cosy in bed though.
Yesterday was a day of two halves. Lovely chat with the coffee morning ladies . I stayed behind and chatted with one of them as I was in no rush to go anywhere as was she. Then in the afternoon 3 things occurred that I wasn’t happy about. Like a few of us I’m struggling at the moment mood wise and this didn’t help. Today is another day and all that.
Lovely memories Urms yes we do wonder how they managed years ago with large families. My grandma was one of seven as was my grandad. Put off by this they had 1 child my mum.
I am in awe brook tackling the Camino del ray. It looks stunning though. Well done you.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning Mick and everyone from a clear skied Lanzarote, we are getting ready to go for a walk along the beach, then breakfast at our favourite restaurant, then back to sit and get some sun and read.
Same old, same old……..
Hope everyone has a good day and stays warm and dry
Good morning all and still tired after yesterdays trip out.
Our coach arrived nearly an hour late but made good progress and we reached Penshurst Place on time for our tour. Mulled wine and mince pies and a roaring fire greeted us. Two lovely guides took us round. All very interesting. One elderly lady tripped up a step and pushed an elderly man into the Christmas tree and felled the lot with baubles and lights tangled around his head. No one was hurt , thank goodness. 🫣.🤭.
Then went on to Tunbridge Wells.( What a lovely place) . Had lunch with another couple who were good company.
The journey home was slow and the traffic was so heavy. My friend of nearly 50 years didn’t stop talking the whole day and on the coach I was dozing but hopefully making the right noises 😴😴. All in all a very nice day.
Brook what an exciting climb! I’d love to do that.
Urms happy memories.
Had our chimney capped yesterday so hopefully no more rain torrenting down the chimney. 🤞
Wishing you all a pleasant day. ❤️
My MIL was one of 11 in rural Ireland .
Wouldn’t it be great to go back in time for a day, just to see how they lived.
Morning all from West Oxfordshire, I’m still in bed so no idea what the weather is like. I am popping into Oxford this morning. I need to upgrade my iPhone and also get one or two Christmas things. I hope I can park in the centre as I don’t really want to do park and ride. I’d forgotten that Royal Mail are striking again so I’ll make a real effort to write the Christmas cards today and tomorrow. They will be ready to post before the weekend. I am expecting some parcels this week but I think they are coming via courier. Toad in the hole for dinner. Sometimes I make a deconstructed one, but not today. Have a good day everyone.
