I have a long spiral epilator, bought online years ago, which is very good. It's like a long narrow spring, about six inches long which is easy to use - probably a bit like threading. Cheap, low-tech and very effective. It's a bit sore doing the ones right under your nose though; I prefer tweezers for those.

I have a little gadget called Tweezerman Smooth Finish Hair Remover. Difficult to explain but it has a spiral spring on rotating handles which is effective at removing chin and upper lip hair. You use it manually by twisting the handles. There is a knack to it, but I found it very good once I got the hang of it. At John Lewis it also comes with a mini pair of Tweezers. Currently £23 (I'm not on commission!). I'm sure must be available elsewhere.

I have one of these, its like a manual epilator. I also have a 10x magnifying mirror - terrifying to look at but I can see which parts of my face need attending to!

I use tweezers daily, but my eyesight is failing so if I'm going out, I use one of those lipstick type razer things. Seems to be doing the trick enough to satisfy my vanity anyway. I agree that they aren't really epilators, they're razers but if they aren't used all the time, I don't think they'll turn me into a stubbly woman. (I hope)

I recommend Laser Hair Removal -- a few sessions and your rid of unwanted hair for life. I have had it done on my legs, armpits, upper lip and chin. Well worth the investment as I never have to think/worry about hair being where it shouldn't.

That’s all well and good if all the hairs are dark. Laser does not work on white hairs. Electrolysis is the only permanent solution.

I use a little magnifying mirror with a light and tweezerman tweezers, before lockdown I had my brows threaded, maybe I'll find somewhere else that does threading and have a good clear up, I found the occasional session made getting rid of new obvious ones easier

10 minutes with Very on every few weeks solves my problem and a Phillips lady shave in between.

I use Boots Facial Hair removal cream, it works for me!

I just shave them. Can't bear tweezers.

I get my face and chin waxed when I get my eyebrows tinted. Fantastic. Waxed and then threaded, but sore momentarily but very effective for ages.

That cream is quite a bargain wibblywobbly

Been watching this with interest. The Boots face cream sounds good - I usually wax my upper lip and tweeze the odd stray but waxing is getting more painful as I get older 🥺

Wibblywobbly Does the cream work well on thick hairs or only on fine hairs? £2 with an advantage card sounds a good deal to me.

Have a look on Ebay, a lot of bargains there, much cheaper than somewhere else!

I go to the salon and have my facial hair waxed. Lasts ages and far better than the gadgets I’ve tried over the years. It’s quick, but it’s not pain free. I would liken it to having a very sticky plaster removed. Couldn’t bear the epilator. Ouch!

I haven’t any underarm or leg hair so I’m lucky in that respect.

I've got a spring remover tool (google it) its only £2 gets loads in one go.

Funnily enough, I was going to start a thread on this very subject; ^Don't let me die with a moustache'. I would hate anyone's last memory of me being of my upper lip. It's the white sturdy ones which appear overnight that bother me. When I listen to Desert Island Discs and the interviewee is asked about an inanimate object they would like to take with them, I always think I would say "tweezers please". Or a blanket to throw over my head when I am rescued.

MissAdventure oh how I empathise. I did have lovely eyebrows - when I look at photos of my youth - but like almost everyone else I plucked them to tiny thin lines - and they have never looked right or grown back. They are dyed every couple of months as the dye seems to pick up every stray and makes them look a little more than three hairs. However - the tenacious little b*****s on my chin keep on returning! I pluck them out viciously with tweezers, a stainless steel wide ended pair that seem to really do the trick, but this doesn't discourage them, sadly.

Nobody has mentioned creams….any good!?
