King Charles coronation

I’m reading today that Charles will be insisting that Harry & Meghan will be invited to his Coronation next year… but why? So they may still whinge & moan and take sneaky pictures for maybe another forthcoming battering of the royal family, moan that all the family will be so cold towards them, that no one is friendly towards them. Charles do your best and don’t invite them, they probably wouldn’t attend anyway..

Hand up all those who can understand that the reasons for wanting a president aren't anything to do with wealth distribution.

You can't blame something for not providing an outcome it's never meant to provide in the first place.

Mollygo Thu 22-Dec-22 14:04:25

But Vd the claims about distributing wealth often seem to come from those who see us not having a president, as a reason for the lack of wealth among the poor.
I agree that the distribution of wealth has nothing to do with having a President or the alternative. The unequal distribution is much more complex than that.

Callistemon Trump in a kilt!😁

Q. Why doesn’t Donald Trump wear a kilt?

A. Because the kilt would get more attention than him.

They are his son and his daughter-in-law for heaven's sake.

Venereal disease?

Well if it does mean that it would be nice of Mollygo to stop calling me that.

If it doesn't mean that, then maybe Mollygo will explain.

No pressure though. Nobody needs to explain themselves on here.

He's a Duke and she is a Duchess.

I wonder if there will be a new recipe for this coronation. If so he can't use the word coronation because his mum did. Something to do with his name? King Charles' chicken?

Casdon Fri 23-Dec-22 13:02:11

Well he can, as long as it’s not chicken and it’s environmentally friendly - how about Coronation Cauliflower Au Gratin, which reaches out to Europe as well?

Glorianny Fri 23-Dec-22 15:10:43

Casdon What!! And us just Brexited!
Maybe something more Commonwealth-y?. Chuck some cauliflower on the Barbie??

Oh no, I have to make a large one tomorrow.

Good practice for May smile

Did he support Brexit - my guess is not, but I don’t know?Definitely not Coronation Cauliflower Au Gratin Au Barbie, that would be very messy.
Maybe Coronation Cauliflower Callistemon, that sounds delicious, and has a nod to Australia - no actual callistemon in it though, it might be a bit prickly on the tongue.

They'll be invited because in that way the King retains the moral high ground whether they turn up or not. Personally I hope not.
Incidentally, I think King Charles is doing a good job so far. I've just read that he has organised for fridges and freezers to be distributed to food banks throughout the land and the money donated to the RF on the death of the queen has been given to a charity that distributes energy vouchers to those who cannot afford to heat their homes. Ok, he's rich and can afford it, but it's the thought that counts. Good on yer, King Charles.

Who would send money to the Royal Family and why?
The King is certainly showing that he is in touch with the real world. I like that.

NotTooOld Fri 23-Dec-22 17:18:40

Indeed, Parsley. Who would send them money? Bit weird really.

Just re-read what I said - I meant because it’s otherwise known as bottle brush plant, I certainly wasn’t implying you’re prickly Callistemon21, I know you aren’t at all.

Oreo Fri 23-Dec-22 18:24:45

Akshully😆I think I like that cauliflower idea, but mixed with chicken
Highgrove cauliflower coronation chicken sounds great!
Served with saffron rice and naans.
All it needs are cold beers and loads of friends and family and yards of bunting.

Witzend Fri 23-Dec-22 19:07:26

Whoever said that whatever he does will be wrong, in the eyes of H & M anyway, is IMO right.

I should imagine that of course he’ll invite them, since leaving them out will be just another source of public, self-pitying whingeing for them.
It’s just occurred to me that they’ll probably be disappointed if they ARE invited - one less reason for going on e.g. Oprah for another whine about the RF.

It's not in flower here in the UK, Casdon, although so far it has survived the frost and snow.

Unfortunately Coronation Cauliflower tends to drip on the charcoal and put out the bbq. Tinnies are much better.

Callistemon21 Fri 23-Dec-22 20:23:16

Anyone who mentions cauliflower again will be transported to Botany Bay.

Casdon Fri 23-Dec-22 20:55:52

Oh no, can I go to Freemantle instead please, it’s nearer my sister and the penal facilities are just as grim as Botany Bay. They grow coffee around Perth, maybe we could have Coronation Coffee - the only issue being that would alienate tea drinkers - a new divide instead of royalists and republicans.
