I can’t believe - truly - that people are ignorant about the Klu Klux Klan and the appalling activities that they undertook in the USA, and the civil rights movement that took place throughout our young life in the USA
In fact I don’t believe it. How can anyone NOT know about it?

Jeremy Clarkson
(306 Posts)I used to find him mildly amusing and sometimes offensive, but his latest rant in the pages of The Sun is just sick beyond belief.

I know all about the KKK. I just don't see what it's got to do with what Clarkson said.
Who has said they don't know about KKK, wwmk2?
You need to explain the connection you see between Clarkson's article and the KKK.
People's dislike of Meghan's and Harry's behaviour is nothing to do with race.

You know, I know but some Gransnetters may be much younger and don't know much about the more recent history of the USA .
History has not been a compulsory subject at GCSE level for many years, either.
What does manana manana manana mean? Cat run across the keyboard?
I know about the KKK
I even know how to spell it.
It's Ku Klux Klan

Doesn’t anyone ever read!?
I simply don’t believe it.

"Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, creeps in this petty 😾 from day to day."
...
"A tale told by an idiot.... signifying nothing."
I'm not saying there is a connection.
Clarkson is like a spoilt, arrogant little six year old - it's the kind of thing a horrid small boy might say about a teacher who upset him. Immature, nasty, puerile, unable to articulate properly.
A grown man saying things like that has got serious problems but we've seen evidence of his inability to control himself previously.

Why?
Ok, don't answer because it's side tracking, but I'm not surprised. Not everyone has the same interests or reading habits.

I'm going to clean the toilet.
A more intellectual pastime that engaging with some posters on social media
Strange comment for someone who spends so much time on SM 🤔
Leave me alone tickingbird. It's just getting obvious now.
On a completely separate topic.
Some people feel they are being bullied when other posters try to make nasty comments about them. I, personally never feel that, but feel about the "other posters" the way some of us feel about Clarkson. That the world is full of inadequate little people who believe they are getting one over on those they think they can bully.
What was it you said to me a few days ago?
“Squirmy. Squirmy….”
I didn’t even bother to inquire what the hell you were on about but, doubtless, you thought you were being clever.
The irony of you talking about bullying isn’t lost on me and probably many others. Try engaging in debate/discussion without the sarcasm and sneering condescension and I suggest stop rushing to make what you think are smart ass retorts before engaging your brain.
Glad to see your memory is still first class tickingbird.
Too sarcastic? Ach well.
Did you find cleaning the toilet too intellectual then?

For goodness sake stop reacting. You're giving him exactly what he wants!
Try 'grey rocking' if you must react at all.
Or clutch your pearls?🤣
Loved Clarksons Farm.
Yeah, he’s a dick and knows he is, he likes a bit of controversy.
Agree with the Harry being no more than a glove puppet tho!
I have a basic policy which I have found to be sound over many years.
When I see and hear governments and their cheerleaders in the media using professional gobshites like Clarkson and Morgan to whip up outrage and hatred against people who have little to no influence on people's lives, whether it's the Duchess of Sussex or Nicola Sturgeon, I make a point of looking towards, and behind, those who really do impact our lives because there's surely something that needs distracting from. And sure enough there's plenty going on in government that should rightly be the subject of all that induced righteous anger. Rupert Murdoch is a republican who doesn't care for the RF and what damage he does to them as individual human beings, and he cares little for Scotland (or the North of England for that matter); the Sun pays little heed to them because they contribute little to his coffers – what he loves are the working-class Tories of relatively prosperous Swindon and Basildon.
Anyway, I know that the Sun employs a bevy of very expensive lawyers who will have chosen the precise wording of Clarkson's rabble-rousing to ensure that they have a getout clause in case of libel actions. All the same, it was completely below the belt to juxtapose Nicola Sturgeon with Rose West without actually suggesting that she was a serial killer. Nicola can afford to write that one off with a withering comment of course, knowing that she remains very popular in Scotland even if there are only 5.7. isn't any longer able to speak her mind. The very idea of even hinting that she played host to Jeremy Clarkson and Piers Morgan out of sheer spite for her step-daughter-in-law. I think she's the best of the lot of them at the moment, and she's put up with much more than her share of media shit-stirring in her time, far to much for her to be bothered with doing the stirring herself. I see her as quiet, a solid and grounded support to her husband, bright, thoughtful (like her husband), curious and bookish (like her late mother-in-law who, I understand, beyond a predilection for the Racing Post and the working-class sagas of Catherine Cookson, was perhaps surprisingly a keen reader of the great christian apologists who could dispute Thomas Aquinas with the Archbish and win) and genuinely interested in people. I can't imagine her in a million years having any time for the likes of Clarkson and Morgan.
tickingbird 👍🏻

I'd never heard of this Aveline
It's possibly something I do without ever knowing what it was called.
Just be a rock. Don't respond. Smile and nod - it drives drama lovers nuts!
Aveline gives good advice.
Men like Clarkson and their views should have faded away long ago, he is a relic of a bygone era, and so is the Sun newspaper.
What I find mind blowing is that he has female apologists for him. Why?
