Posting Christmas Cards

Yes, far too late now. Did you forget about the strikes?

Too late but as they say better late than never - I have not sent many cards. Instead I have rung them and wished them personally- got few more to do

I would post them.
I sent mine yesterday and was told (unofficially) there wasn't much new going into the system as most people had decided they were too late.
I think they will still arrive.

I've got a few back home waiting to be finished and posted tomorrow evening, but I am resigned they won't get there in time.
I'm going to send some New Year ones I bought while abroad and will pretend I am doing it the European way instead!

Having just received today's post, there were cards stamped on the 18th. So I have posted the cards and will take my chance?

No PoppyRed, to be honest it did not occur to me. Must be an age thing!!

There are Royal Mail strikes on December 23rd and 24th, so there is little chance of your cards arriving before Christmas. On normal non-strike years the last date for posting second class is 18th.

I don't expect mine to arrive on time. I posted mine to the UK here in Germany sometime last week. As CrazyH says "better late than never"

I have already received a few from England, but the postmark doesn't show the date of posting any more, so I don't know how long they took to get here.

As there are twelve days to Christmas, I’m not bothered about late posting and my new year wishes are contained there, so that’s fine.

The card I posted to my mum two weeks ago arrived this morning! I think we'll be enjoying Christmas post well into January but at least no-one will be offended if cards are late this year.

The changed dates were mentioned on all the media, online, paper and broadcast.

I have often wanted to send New Year cards to people but while it’s possible to buy cards for every other event or situation you can name, with New Year I’ve never seen more than a couple of uninspired offerings in shops.
Does anyone on GN know where sells them ?

I sent a birthday card friday (quite late in the day).
It somehow arrived today so I think it's patchy.

I wish I knew when the cards I'm getting mow were actually posted.

I got told I was too late for the overseas ones but I also said well, they can be New Year's cards and I really don't care. Chances are they will get there anyway. I have cut down by half because it now costs around $2.70 per card- more than the card itself. Ridiculous.

Post them anyway. I shall. Everyone knows about the strikes so they won't mind. They'll still have them during the Christmas season.

It's patchy,we seem to b getting locally posted ones later than the ones from the North East. If they are written I'm putting them in and they will get there sometime.

Same here, all cards posted weeks ago only just got there.
I’ve got about half the cards I usually get and guess the rest will arrive by Feb.😩

I was talking to a friend on the phone two weeks ago and she told me she had sent a card, it has not arrived yet. I have only received three cards in the post this year, I think this will be the last year I write cards and I am sure I will not be the only one.

We received a lot of cards yesterday (20th) postmarked 10 or 13 Dec. Thought folks were maybe not sending now.

Don’t bother…I posted all mine..a mix of 1st and 2nd class on the 9th…..several have still not arrived ….now 23rd and no more post until the 28th! Waste of time and money….

The amended last Christmas posting dates were issued some time ago. I am sure I read it on BBC online news but can't be sure. Don't see the point in posting anything now either, far too late for Christmas delivery.
We posted ours at the beginning of December and still not sure if they have all arrived.

Send New year cards instead strikes end on 24th Dec

I live in Swindon, the postman just gave me a parcel, I looked at the address, as I wasn`t expecting anything

it was an address in Melksham Wiltshire!!!

I managed to catch the postman, and so hope the lady receives her parcel...

We were snowed up for a week so I wrote an apology on the back of the envelope for non posting of cards
