How can it ever be a consolation to anyone that they will be dead before the worst effects of climate chnage affect them?
I can only presume they are single and childless or dont give a damn about what kind of world their children and grandchildren live in.
Well I do care about my descendents, so take action. Any one can march up and down and shout slogans and cause disruption, but the best measure of someone's commitment to a cause is what they are actively doing to live the life that supports their cause and what they do to help other people to do likewise.
Everybody knows about the dangers of global warming but, many, may be most, do not know what to do about it. What they need is people who can be shown to be examplars of all the small things we can do and who can work with the media to show how easy so many can be applied.
Not the bright and breezy people seen on government websites, advertising folk, who demonstrate how to insulate empty lofts, dryline a house in a weekend, and make it draft free in half an hour. We want to see people of all ages, getting help to insulate lofts full of stuff, neighbourhood groups helping each other to stop those draughts, and helping each other. An elderly lady keeping the mugs of tea and biscuits coming, while those more able draft proof her house.
Now if ER were to undertake campaigns of insulating houses in areas where people cannot afford to do it themselves then they could really do something for the cause they espouse and win public support. Currently they are like a load of vandals careering down a street damaging everything they see and justfying it by saying they are doing it in order to get the council to improve the built environment.
