All back to normal now Ken?
Did it cause any problems?
Good Morning Wednesday 22nd April 2026
Hello
We haven’t had a Night Owls thread for ages, so I thought I’d start one.
I know that there are quite a few of us about in the wee small hours, and it can be a lonely time.
So here it is.
I look forward to chatting in the nights and weeks to come x
All back to normal now Ken?
Did it cause any problems?
Yes it did. Left with only a mobile. Unable to use the internet and we do all our banking, pay bills etc that way. We had only just got Netflix and I was half way through Happy Valley and on the last episode of Bridgerton Series 1. Plus no GN. Still I believe we get compensation !
This is a stressful night- sorry. I'm just putting it in writing to let a little stress go.
My ex husband is dying in hospital where he caught covid. My DD has to fly home to this today. I have been doing a lot for him in her absence so have been in a sense at the forefront and also helping his sister. Just a fleeting thought would be a comfort to me. Thank you. xx
Hi Ginny42, just offering a hand to hold for a while. I hope your family are able to support you as well as each other too.
You are not alone Ginny Nights are always the worst. But hope you have managed some rest. Thinking of you.
You are in my thoughts Ginny. What a sad and stressful time for you. As Mrs Ken has said night time always makes everything seem so much worse.
Please look after yourself too.
Take care.x
Thank you for your kind thoughts. I know I have to be strong today. He's been in and out of hospital recently with breathing issues, but I wanted him to just go to sleep and not suffer covid. He caught it in hospital.
I was told that visitors will have an apron, gloves and a mask but on a covid ward I'm a bit anxious whether that's enough protection.
Another restless night but now with cold symptoms. Rubbed lavender oil on my temples, a warm lavender bag at my neck and I'm tucked up in a fleecy throw.
My DD made it in time to see her father with an hour to spare. Yes my ex, but not an ounce of malice in him.
Hope not too many awake at this hour. xx
Sorry you are still awake Ginny, you are probably run down with all stress you are under. You sound as if you are lovely and warm though. I am freezing here, waiting for British Gas to sort out my heating. Its a new boiler less than 4 months old.
I'm pleased your daughter got back in tune to see her dad and you can now support one another.
Take care of yourselves.x
No heating?
You should be a priority surely? It's a little warmer here in Cheshire, but I see very low temperatures recorded in other areas. Hope you're not in the -9C area.
We're fairly calm here considering. My DD and I have been awake and checking what needs to be done but we have lots of offers of help.
Hope things are looking better for you and your DH and you have support. Thinking of you both. x
My sympathies to you Ginny and to your daughter. How good that you were able to be there when needed.
Maya May your new boiler get sorted pronto. I hope you can get warm - maybe in bed even if you can’t sleep! I love a 15 minute boost from my electric blanket. I think of you and your worries about your DH. Wishing you some good news.
Early morning and it's white with frost. I looked up at the bathroom skylight and could see the stars.
Maya I hope you have better news about your DH. It's a worrying time for you, so I hope you're asleep. x
Hello to anyone awake 👋
My sympathies to you and your daughter Ginny, I’ve only just read your sad news
Maya I hope that things are going okay with you and your husband
Gracie has had the op on her eye, but it’s got an infection.
I’ve just got up to give her antibiotics, painkillers and eye drops (the latter being very tricky)
Hello Fanny I’ve been awake since 1:30. I had a really busy day yesterday so was hopeful of a nice uninterrupted sleep. But it doesn’t work that way does it.?
And to anyone else awake at this ungodly God bless.
Ungodly hour !!!!!
Morning, hope everyone is doing ok, so many worrying times for some of you
Hope Gracie's eye infection heals quickly Fanny, eye drops are a nightmare. My Ivy gets 4 tablets a day and she clamps her mouth so tight when she sees me coming with them.
The last three days here have been really nice here, but I believe the rain is due back through the morning. On my dog walks I've noticed the daffodils starting to appear, some have budded, just shows how mixed up the weather is.
Hope you all have a peaceful Sunday.
Sorry to hear about Gracie's eye infection. I hope she feels better soon.
I've had days of being awake at 1.00am or 2.00am Mrs Ken, it's really not very nice but l make myself a tea and give Finn a cuddle and make the best of it.
My DH continues to improve slowly, thank you for your kind thoughts. He won't eat though and really isn't talking much.
It must be very distressing for him.
The hospital is trying to get carers in place to enable him to come home.
Thank you Maya, she’s fine, still dashing around, even with her lampshade on.
I’m sure that your husband will do much better when he’s home with you.
I really hope that they get the care package sorted soon x
Thanks Fanny, l hope so. I worry that he is giving up.
I keep telling him we will manage but l don't know if he is listening.
I tell myself it will be better when l can get him home and it's back to being just us and Finn.
It’s such a worrying time for you Maya, I really do feel for you.
I’m certain that it will be much better when he’s home.
And then just take it is it comes and enjoy all of the little things
Awake since 2.30 and wondered how the night owls are doing. How are you doing Maya? I hope you are sleeping and there is better news about your DH.
I notice it's several degrees warmer than of late, so may even turn the heating down at last. Yesterday I had the house inspection for solar panels in a scheme with the local council for me to have them free. Yes! I know! I think it's the way we must all go eventually so I hope I qualify.
Hope everyone is having a peaceful night. x
Amazingly I have just woken up. 9 hours. Except for DH sitting bolt upright about 1%:30 ans saying he was dizzy. Then going immediately back to sleep. He won’t remember at all when I ask him why?
Hope everyone is alright. Raining here but what’s new.
Hello Ginny wow! That’s a good offer! I hope that you qualify.
I’ve slept like a log tonight.
I usually let Gracie out around two to have a wee and give her her meds, but I couldn’t wake up sufficiently, so MrC had to do the honours.
The GP rang yesterday. MrC had to have some blood tests done. He’s badly iron deficient, so it’s a relief to find out what it currently the matter with him. He has absolute zero energy.
He’s got to have a poo test done to rule out bowel cancer.
Thinking of you Maya
x
Hope everyone has a good day, 🌞
Yes Ginny, I turned the heating off yesterday and had the windows open!
I had totally forgotten about this thread.
