I've just eaten 4 Ferrero Rocher chocolates.
I'm not that keen on them but we meant to take them with us at Christmas, forgot and they need tidying up.

A Christmas 🐷 thread - I’ll start!
(84 Posts)Yesterday I ate a whole big box of Maltesers. By myself.
And I’ve just made enough pastry for another 2 dozen mince pies - all to be scoffed by 12th Night, naturally. To be entirely fair they’ll only be very little ones, just a couple of mouthfuls. But at least they’ll use up the last of the mincemeat.
Wading through Christmas pud with my own brandy butter, stollen and after meal tonight, chocolate gold coins from my DD.
I can honestly say that I haven’t eaten ANY turkey, pigs in blankets, mince pies, Christmas pudding, Christmas cake , quality street, liquor chocolates, Yule log or shortbread, but mysteriously my body weight in peanuts 🥜 and cheese seems to have evaporated from the kitchen 🤷♂️?
Twiglets! I have to buy a bag of small bags. If I bought the large size they would soon go. I do have just enough self control to limit myself to one small bag per evening.
This thread is so unkind to diabetics 🤬😠😢
I’m more a savoury person - I haven’t been eating at home really, for the past few days . Xmas with daughter and family. Boxing Day with youngest son and family, 31st and 1st, away with middle son and family. Today had a small roast lamb from M&S. There’s a box of Ferraros and one Quality Street, untouched. I’d rather have Prawn tails, chicken Goujons - ready salted crisps., peanuts or cheese strips . I can gorge on then.

Oh, sorry.
And coeliacs, those with a nut allergy etc.
It should come with a health warning.
I'm allergic to almonds
the quarter of the tin of milk chocolate covered almonds looks full and f***ing amazing
JaneJudge Can you not just suck the chocolate off, spit the almonds out? Or would even that be too dodgy for you?
Noooooo!
hahaha! I would have puffed up lips for sure
<understatement>
I’ve nearly finished a box of those Finlandia(sp) sugared fruit jellies. Apparently OH doesn’t like them. My daughter gave me three different types of Hotel Chocolat chocolates, which I had to eat because they’re a present. I had forgotten a bag of fudge which I thought I had better eat as they take up room. Finally, a box of champagne truffles, which I forgot to put out at Christmas must be eaten soon as there can’t be much of the use by date left. Can there?
JaneJudge I have CIU (Chronic Ideopathic Urticaria), in other words, the medics have never figured out exactly why my body reacts the way it does. I take daily antihistamines and will be doing so until I die. Had to carry Epi-pens for years as my reactions were so severe. I still get the occasional reaction (never know why) and take Piriton on top of my usual meds when I do. I had reacted to prawns before this started but that was a “simple” allergy, and easily avoided by not eating prawns obviously.
My CIU started out of the blue one day when I was in my late 40s and I was in/out of hospital for the next five days (and infrequently over the next few years) until I was seen by dermatology as nothing A&E was doing was making any difference, and that was with me not eating and drinking only water. Was prescribed a mammoth course of steroids, along with antihistamines, could only eat very pure, plain foods for ages, e.g. steamed chicken, white rice. So I do understand where you’re coming from.
Oddly enough, in my case, my face was rarely affected, but I always got hives everywhere else, plus an awful wet sensation in my chest that brought on horrendous coughing bouts. Plus, really bad headaches and vomiting/diarrhoea. Was also prone to fainting because of low blood pressure. Not forgetting the “impending sense of doom”.
I also have asthma (diagnosed in my 30s), take daily meds for that. And a particular form of alopecia (started in my 50s). I did worry for a while if I would develop something new in every decade but apart from arthritis (mostly in my hands) and IBS (periodically troublesome, and my own fault really when it is as I’ve eaten too much of certain foods), my body appears to have settled (definitely touched wood as I typed that 😁)
All this is just the joys of having a “works in a weird way” immune system as one Doc once quite jovially described it.
JaneJudge Just realised how long my post is, and the fact it’s got bu..er all to do with what the threads about, sorry folks.

I bought a big pack of Twiglets and completely forgot them, but passed them to dd1 when they visited on the 27th, for their NYE party.
TBH dh isn’t mad keen (but he’s probably eaten his body weight in nuts over the past 10 days) so I’d have had to eat the lot myself anyway.
grannydarkhair, it's an interesting post. I am quite allergic to to lots of things but I'm really not sure what apart from the ones I get more extreme reactions to. For example I have had reactions to certain cheeses too and there is something in a ready meal collection I react to. I have an auto immune condition that may cause alopecia too
Today marks eleven months without drinking a drop of alcohol or any kinds of wine! And six months of eating seven fruits and veggies a day, drinking 10 glasses of water, no carbs, and no red meat. Lots of 8 hour sleeps. The change in my body has been fantastic! I feel great, I lost weight, and my way of thinking is very positive! I'm looking to keep this up, and go for more, because I choose to! No alcohol, eating healthy, lots of sleep and above all, an hour of exercise every day!
I don't know whose status this was on Facebook, but I was so happy for them, I copied and pasted it here
notgran 🤣🤣
After starting the day with weetabix, prunes, blueberries and a banana I sadly descended an hour ago into cheese and pate; has to be used up!
Jaxjacky You didn't 'descend' to anything. Both cheese and pate are healthy and nutritious foodstuffs. It is your diet mix that matters, not the individual constituents.
There are no such things as good and bad foods, just good and bad diets.
If it is in the house..I will eat it! Had the family over for Boxing Day and had bought lots of "goodies" so after they left the next day I managed to hoover up (not with the Dyson, with my mouth!!!) everything else! I was then resolved to eating healthily again until I found some more chocolate in the back of the cupboard and ate that whilst watching TV last night! Now the house is free of goodies I feel confident that I can start eating more healthily (however just heard that Easter Eggs are now in the shops!!)
my breakfast yesterday I had the last layer of the chocolate biscuits and today a box of shortbread! like most of you have to use everything up before I start my diet!
Not a morsel of christmas cake or mince pies have touched my lips. On my own and diabetic so did not make any. However I think I may have told you of my 2 emergency presents I keep in for the unexpected guest. Some chocolates and a book token. Well no one came and so I have been into the book shop and bought a book in the sale with the token. Oh then of course there was the box of Anton Berg apricots in cointreau I think it was (cant check as there doesnt seem to be any left) they are like posh jaffa cakes Couldnt let them go off. A good job that they had diminished the size of each one whilst the box looked just as big as before. Not had a summons from the diabetic nurse as they are so busy at present - might get away with it!!
I think Christmas cake for breakfast is an absolute necessity. Well, that’s my Christmas diet, anyway!
I don't understand the concept of a 'family' box of Maltesers - I can eat the whole box on my own in under an hour! I have much more of a savoury tooth but there's something about Maltesers. Lindt are good too, but I always end up feeling slight sick after I've eaten them - they are very rich!
A not - so - lighthearted reply....
I'm watching the news about the crisis in the health service. The government is responsible for this - but I'm respnsible for not adding to the problem. I've added a few pounds over Christmas so I'm going to take them off - starting now. If I don't, I'll be one of those clogging up the NHS with diabetes, heart and joint problems. So - a strict calories in / calories out regime.
