A Christmas 🐷 thread - I’ll start!

Yesterday I ate a whole big box of Maltesers. By myself.

And I’ve just made enough pastry for another 2 dozen mince pies - all to be scoffed by 12th Night, naturally. To be entirely fair they’ll only be very little ones, just a couple of mouthfuls. But at least they’ll use up the last of the mincemeat.

You mean the box costing around £2.50? Whoaaaa!😆
Was only a 🐷 with the Christmas pud this year😇

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 02-Jan-23 13:37:19

I got a large-ish tin of shortbread biscuits - to be fair twice the amount could have fitted in the tin - but they've all gone, every last crumb.

toscalily Mon 02-Jan-23 13:46:38

I was given a heart shaped box of Lindor, I have finished them all. But, considering I have been ill for a month I consider them a necessary part of my recovery. grin

They certainly are Toscalily they are my favourites - I'm sure they've got something addictive in them which lights up the pleasure centre of the brain.

JaneJudge Mon 02-Jan-23 13:51:11

well I've got a box of milk tray that I'm too scared to open as apparently they taste of bleach!

Someone bought me a lovely tin of walkers milk chocolate nuts and fruits which I can't leave alone sad

Witzend Mon 02-Jan-23 13:54:26

When did you open them, JaneJudge? Any time before yesterday and you’re a complete amateur in Christmas 🐷 terms, I’m afraid!

JaneJudge Mon 02-Jan-23 13:56:12

I opened the tin on Boxing day and there is still quite a lot left in it! The thing is I would never have thought to buy them myself but they really are very nice and one of the nicest gifts I've been given.

I've received over Christmas and New Year 3 large boxes of Maltesers. I've eaten them all! A tin of shortbread biscuits from m & s l have 3 left very moreish. I cannot resist a malteser. I was astonished that when l just cut out all the sweet treats l had lost half a stone! Which of course I have nowput back on. Sweet treats nearly all gone.

Ate half a tub of Pringles "for lunch"!
Not my usual style, but they did taste good!

Oh, absolutely! A medical necessity, I'd say!

I have just finished a modest box of cherry liquors. It's took me a week and no other sweets or cakes etc. I have been very good not eating too much sweet stuff. Purely because I don't want to go the dentist I hate going there. So I can quite easy do without the sweet stuff unless it's in a glass.

lixy Mon 02-Jan-23 19:05:54

Redhead I have just finished a modest box of cherry liquors.

I remember scoffing some of those when I was about 8 years old and feeling rather giggly!

Not sweet stuff here, but the savoury cheese straws have just disappeared somehow and really don't know what happened to the crisps. Oh dear. blush

glammagran Mon 02-Jan-23 19:28:17

My severe weakness this Christmas has been cheese (as always!). I’ve eaten 400g of Stilton and nearly a whole Epoisses. Not to mention truffle Brie, Montgomery cheddar and barkham blue brought over by DD1. I’m a 🐷 with bells on. Probably why my dreams have been so vivid.

Most of the sweet things are still hanging around. I can have one hotel chocolat chocolate and not be tempted by a second one. I’ve just frozen a stollen today which goes out of date tomorrow.

Doodle Mon 02-Jan-23 19:30:04

Don’t mention jelly beans and liquorice Allsorts. Big bars of each all gone.😱

M0nica Mon 02-Jan-23 19:30:10

I had ginger bread man biscuits for breakfast today. There were only 4 of them.

I currently have a whole selection of oddments - cheese, yule log, mince pies, liquor chocs, that need to be used as soon as poss, so that the post Christmas recovery programme can start.

Wyllow3 Mon 02-Jan-23 19:34:39

I had a scoff free christmas, as I had total control over matters and DS and family don't give food.

but just today in M n S a very good christmas pudding was reduced too....£1. so.....

Since Christmas Eve I have been having Walkers shortbread biscuits and coffee for breakfast. At last the tin is nearly finished. Also a third of the way through the second bottle of Baileys that I bought with my nectar points. £10 for a litre from Sainsbury just before Christmas, so had enough points for. Two bottles. My downfall is Black Magic and I am pleased to say I am down to the last two since I opened it last night. New Year resolution of going on a diet won’t kick in until all is eaten or I could just give it to the food bank. Mr B doesn’t tend to eat sweet things, so I have to be the martyr

Mollygo Mon 02-Jan-23 19:57:11

My downfall is Baileys chocolate luxe. Third of the way down first bottle. I can pass on the sweet stuff in work, but teachers don’t drink on the job (and I’m too mean to share it.)

LauraNorderr Mon 02-Jan-23 20:47:42

Have finished off the trifle, the last four mince pies and the last of the turkey (cooked and donated by daughter in law) on the very last bap.
Am writing a letter of complaint to Persil as all of my clothes have shrunk.

Doodle Mon 02-Jan-23 20:54:11

Finally finished the ham. I wish DH had said when I bought it that he didn’t really like it. Still got 6 mince pies to go.

sodapop Mon 02-Jan-23 20:59:32

Still got a bottle of Baileys to go along with a packet of mini stollen and two boxes of plain chocs.
LauraNorder I am having the same problem with Ariel.

My Christmas gift/s from my oldest g’son was a big bag of assorted goodies from various stores, Waitrose, M&S, etc. Since the 27th, along with normal meals, I’ve scoffed three big bags of crisps, a big tin of mostly chocolate biscuits and a (literal) s.it load of assorted liquorice. Haven’t touched any of the more sensible stuff, e.g. savoury biscuits, chutnies, etc. My IBS has now kicked in so I’ll have to be good and eat more sensibly for the rest of the week and definitely no more liquorice for a while ☹️

ixion Mon 02-Jan-23 21:04:16

Still chomping solidly here, despite most meals being of the fusion variety.

Witzend Mon 02-Jan-23 21:05:12

Well, I managed 28 mince pies out of that pastry. Have only eaten one so far but give me time. 🐷
