Nothing about the Royals

This thread is nothing about the Royal Family.

Here is a joke -

Helvetica and Times Roman walk into a bar.
“Get out of here”, shouts the barman, “We don’t serve your type in here”

And a pretty picture -

Here’s the Winter Flowering Jasmine in our garden. We cut it right back in October.

I too have Winter Jasmine which is flowering well. But I would be very interested to know how far back you cut yours, please. Mine is about 6' high /wide. Did you cut yours down low? I give mine a good trim, but perhaps it would benefit from a more severe cut? smile

We have these to eat, and this is the first of the new season of lemons.
The Twitter thread is worth reading, I had a good laugh.

Ooh, is the lemon tree in your garden, MiniMoon? Lovely!
I love the smell of orange and lemon tree blossom in places like Spain, like these in Seville -

My dogs eating carrots. They pretty much ignore each other most of the time but they like eating carrots in tandem.

The thread ate the photo.

Why did the chicken go to the seance?
To get to the other side.

Our winter flowering jasmine has suddenly started flowering, sorry, no photo as it would mean walking across an extremely soggy lawn!

However, we were surprised because it looked half-dead not long ago, another casualty of the hot summer we thought.
It wasn't cut back because a blackbird was nesting in there.

Now it's green again and flowering really well.

Pruning winter jasmine:
1 Prune in spring, immediately after flowering.
2 Flowers are produced on the previous year's growth.
3 Pruning after flowering gives the new growth time to mature
and flower next season.

What a lovely cheerful thread!

MiniMoon Sat 07-Jan-23 14:17:36

Sarah75 the lemon tree is in our conservatory/porch. We also have an orange tree that is flowering again too.

For my birthday in December my DD bought me a tin of Quality Street, but instead of Quality there was my name. It was full of green triangles and the purple ones. I still have a few left.

It just tells me what a meteorite is Don’t get it

Marydoll Sat 07-Jan-23 14:21:32

Me neither. I even search for Meteorite, urban myth, but got nothing.

Thank you Callistermon. That is how I currently prune my Winter Jasmine. I am interested to hear how severely Nordstat pruned hers. I would always prune in the spring though, not October.
Minimoon last spring my daughter planted a lemon tree in a large pot. Surprisingly, it produced four lemons at the end of last year. smile

It’s grey rainy and cold here but two dog training classes indoors mean that overgrown teenage hooligan will be exhausted when we get home.
I’ll lite the fire and read my murder mystery 🍾

I grew some oranges and lemons from seed years ago, they didn't do much but they were quite decorative.

Expecting a DGC over later for a sleepover! 🙂

It's gone really dark outside.

I have two tins of Quality Street hidden in the old hot water tank cupboard. No-one would ever think of looking there. wink

Ah ha! All I need to do is find your address and the hidden treasure is mine!

Did you just get the Google list page and then wait? If you move on from the list page to one of the links, it doesn't work. Be patient.

Me neither. I even search for Meteorite, urban myth, but got nothing.

You just wait a little while and then.....

Elegran Sat 07-Jan-23 14:48:35

And just search for meteorite, don't elaborate.

I have just padlocked it. I am not sharing with anyone.... well apart from DGD, who loves the orange ones! wink

Type the word ‘meteorite’ into google and wait!

Right, here goes!

Oh!!

That made my ears ring.

Squiffy Sat 07-Jan-23 15:16:57

‘Our’ very tame blackbird has suddenly reappeared after going awol for months. I thought that he’d met his Waterloo as he had looked rather bedraggled before he disappeared, but he looks really fit and well and came straight up to me when I opened the back door. It’s made my day!

Kate1949 Sat 07-Jan-23 15:22:42

I googled meteorite and got a surprise. So did DH. You have to wait a couple of minutes.
