We cook from scratch using lots of fresh veg, make tea with leaves in a teapot and use cloth table napkins at every meal.

We make calls with our landline phone. Although we have mobiles we seldom use them and only give out the numbers on a "need to know" basis.

We get what exercise we need without joining a gym and don't pay TV subscriptions.

I suppose it's old fashioned - I clean out the fireplaces every use.

Rarely iron. We cook all our foods and use cloth napkins.

I still use flat sheets, top and bottom for the bed with patchwork quilts on top. Also tray cloths, cups and saucers.

An old-fashioned 'push-me, pull-you' lawnmower.

Tablecloths aren’t old fashioned, they have had a big revival - they even sell them in Next!
I can’t see the point of aprons, because I always get stuff on my sleeves rather than my body - but I do still iron, although it’s not something I enjoy - including tea towels.

I can cook, bake, make from scratch and always have, however,I have no one to cook for,so all scaled down for me.

Had bread for guests at christmas, which no one ate,I would have made bread pudding in the past, but no one eats bread pudding any more.

I have moved with the times, but not really through choice,I used to love the smell of bread pudding wafting through the house when my children where growing up.

Same here - cook from scratch, wear an apron, iron shirts and dresses.

Our car has a gear stick and needs a key in the keyhole to start it. And we use maps to navigate.

G'children enjoy a game of French cricket using my old tennis racquet from school.

I always carry a hanky (not ironed though) and I use an apron if I'm doing a lot of baking; to keep the flour off me.
I have throws on my settees, as I have 2 spaniels with large feet, and it keeps muddy footprints off them on wet days.

Milk goes in a jug, sugar in a bowl and butter in a dish!

We go to the pictures not the cinema.

I still watch DVD’s & listen to vinyl records (although it seems vinyl is trendy again) I polish my shoes & boots with Cherry Blossom Polish using shoe brushes and I have a manicure set & always do my own nails. I use a teapot and knitted tea cosy when making tea for a few people.

Regarding Fullers Earth, when I was a young teenager we used to make face packs with it, not seen any for years, it was good stuff.

If I was out and felt I needed a cup of tea, I might go into a teashop, sit down, buy a cup of tea and drink it there.

I have never wandered around outside with a takeaway hot drink in my hand.

Greenfinch - none of my 3 children have them, so I guessed it was old fashioned 😂

Greenfinch Wed 11-Jan-23 17:59:52

crazyH you may well be right. I don’t like them anyway. Most of my mugs are too big and hang somewhat precariously.🤭

My grown kid tells me I'm old fashioned because I use a mechanical timer rather than the time/alarm function on my phone.

NotTooOld Wed 11-Jan-23 18:49:39

Sending greetings cards. I still send Christmas and birthday cards but I know many people, both young and old, who think this is old fashioned.

Any spare bread pudding can be sent this way.
I love it, but DH doesn't, so it is not made very often.

We had an old bit of Panettone left. It made lovely bread and butter pudding. But I did make a bread pudding one time with hot cross buns .

I use Alexa as a timer so I think your children are old fashioned blueberrypie.

Nana3 Wed 11-Jan-23 22:46:33

Do lots of the above and have a bath not a shower.

Thank you! I will tell him he is the one who is behind the times! smile

A funny story about being old fashioned. When I used to clean my mother's house she insisted I used her old mop which was a white, string cotton mop head. It got down to about ten strings but she still insisted. When she went to the hairdresser, I would rush home and get my own Vileda mop and clean all her floors so she was none the wiser. Bless her!

I’ve never used a sat nav, following my nose and using maps has worked very well for the last 50 years.

Thanks Fleurpepper .re Fuller's Earth. I shall get hold of some.
Another mystery product is glycerine.
Do you know what it's for, why and where?

I have 3 mug trees. One was my DS school woodwork project.

I had a great aunt whose house was like a museum and she was preyed on by dodgy antique dealers.
The wallpaper dated from the 1920s and her DH first world war boots took pride of place.
To her nothing was an antique. They were her treasures.

I use real hankies, and I love ironing them, and tea towels. Love the sharp creases. Am seriously thinking of switching to flat be sheets for this very reason - it is not possible to iron a fitted bed sheet with precision!!
