Plans for the day I would like to go via Buckingham to Bicester on the buses for a change, but will see how it goes .
Yesterday, I had a call as to having a Ct scan at the Horton in banbury ,all set up for Monday lunch.

grandMattie Sat 14-Jan-23 06:15:09

Good morning from a blustery E Kent. It’s probably raining, but I haven’t looked out yet.
Mick, I’m pleased for you that things are moving so rapidly.
I had another quiet day after the supermarket shop. I filled the car an realised that it was nearly three months since I last filled it up. I drive very little neither do I go out much…
Today, I’m visiting my friend in the nursing home, and am going to try to see another friend in that village.
DD called and apologised for not contacting estate agents as she has had a very busy week. Next week perhaps.
I hope that today is kind to everyone and their loved ones. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩

SunshineSally Sat 14-Jan-23 06:16:47

Good morning Mick and everyone from a dark wet and windy south Hants.

Mick it’s good to read that you are being taken care of. I hope your CT scan goes well.

Yesterday was a lovely sunny day and we went for a long walk with DDog followed by a trip to Costco. I had cooked a leg of lamb so we had a lovely roast dinner and invited DD round to share. Today I have a flu jab booked at our surgery but nothing else planned except a dog walk between the showers.
Have the best day you can - thinking of Marydoll and other poorlies. Have a safe trip Urms and a lovely time away.
A hug and 🌻🌻 for you all x

Tommo Sat 14-Jan-23 07:06:09

I slept in.
Gday from Darwin Australia. You know the place. An old colony where you sent all the bad guys.
Hot here. Real hot. Even the lizards are seeking shade.
No rain in sight ether. Could do with a drenching.
I’ll spend the day drawing, go for a walk at the end of the day, cook dinner, read a bit, go to bed.
Hopefully I’ll have another day to do more of the same.
I never get tired of doing nothing.

BlueBalou Sat 14-Jan-23 07:08:11

Good morning from wet, windy and dark Wiltshire.
Besides DDog walking I have nothing planned this weekend but I do want to have a clear out of my wardrobe before a trip to the charity shop next week and to do some crafting stuff.
Hope you all have a peaceful weekend x

GrannyGravy13 Sat 14-Jan-23 07:13:14

Morning all

You seem to be getting excellent service from the NHS Mick fingers crossed all goes well on Monday.

grandMattie after the last few years, make the most of being at home doing nothing, gives your body a mind time to recharge ready for your move.

I can hear the wind howling outside, we are forecast rain for most of the day. Definitely curl up on the sofa with my kindle is on the agenda.

Safe flight to your casa Espana Urmstongran

(((Hugs))) for Marydoll and all our morning friends who would just like some 🌸🌸🌸

Have a good Saturday folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

In haste as slept late and DH is off on a boys' “Jolly” in London by train.

Happy weekend!

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dark and some sleet or snow forecast for later, hopefully it won’t be too bad.
Today DGD has a long, 3 hour dancing class so whilst she’s busy DD2 and DGS are coming here for lunch and to play a few board games which he really enjoys. I think they’ve generously shared their cough and cold germs with me though, they’re both better but passed it onto me.
Thinking of marydoll and everyone else struggling just now
Safe journey Urms
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Urmstongran Sat 14-Jan-23 07:48:06

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s still dark and looks damp out. I shall phone for a taxi in 3 hours or so. My handbag is in the hall, Kindle loaded for bear as I don’t watch much tv in Spain. I think the hour ahead throws me and a drama starting at 10pm doesn’t have the same appeal for me. I shall have to catch up on the 2 Happy Valley episodes on iPlayer when I get back as it doesn’t work abroad. I’ve only got to put my make up in a clear plastic zip bag into my handbag and I’m good to go.

I love airports. The buzz, the anticipation of the flight. Possibly this has something to do with the fact that I hate being on a motorway. The only bit I don’t like, because it’s a bit stressy, is ‘belts and shoes’ a.k.a. security. Grey trays on the roller belt, everyone seeming a bit manic. Himself once left his watch in the tray, but fortunately realised when we were in Duty Free and went back for it. I have a silly check list in my head as I unload into the tray: “MP’s are WicKeD.” It stands for Makeup, Phone, Watch, Kindle and (iPad) Device. I know. I’m properly sad. Then hand bag, coat, scarf in another tray ... honestly, I don’t know why we both getting dressed for the airport!

Right, time for another cuppa. ‘See you’ in Málaga mi amigas.
x

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and wet. I don't know if it's windy or not as my wee bungalow sits tight and I never hear the wind. Urms safe journey and have a lovely time. Brook I hope the cold is a mild one and passes quickly. Mick I'm another who hopes it goes well on Monday. Grannygravy that sounds like a cosy day.
Yesterday my shower was finally replaced after three weeks. It was cheaper than I expected though so that was a bonus. I pottered about the house but didn't do anything apart from making lentil soup and pasta bake. I heard from dd. She has organised dgs1's birthday party next month and has booked a Spiderman to come. Dgs1 will be very excited as t that.
Today I'll be out fairly early to pick up my prescription. Then more housework. Then this afternoon I'm visiting my ill friend for an hour. Have a good day all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 14-Jan-23 08:01:36

Morning all from a gloomy looking West Oxfordshire. Hope all goes well in Malaga, Urms. I am off to London on the train for the day. I am meeting daughter at the V&A. She wants to look at the Korean Exhibition, which I can take her to for free, seeing as I’m a member. We’ll probably have lunch in the members room. I love the V&A. It’s one of my favourite places. The shop is pretty good toosmile

Grandmadinosaur Sat 14-Jan-23 08:11:38

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. Looking out the window it looks like there was quite a bit of rain overnight.

Had a nice chat at the hairdressers yesterday. It’s a different girl doing my hair till my regular one is back at the end of the month. Then food shopping and lunch at Costa.

DH is still snoring so not sure of our plans today. Well I have an idea as he will be watching football later so I am thinking of a trip out to Beverley to leave him to it.

Safe journey Urms I get stressed by the airport and don’t relax till through security even then it’s that constant checking the TV for gates, delays etc.

Good news Mick not long to wait.

Hope things are sorted or stable for marydoll 🤞

Have a good Saturday everyone.

Gala Sat 14-Jan-23 08:12:40

Good morning all. Dark, damp & dismal here in Sefton. But at least that wind has stopped howling.
Apart from a bit of food shopping we have no plans for today. I did think it was Friday & got out my exercise clothes. Remembered it was Saturday just before I started to get dressed.
Good to hear you're in the 'system' Mick & things are moving along.
Wishing you all a peaceful weekend.

Grandmadinosaur Sat 14-Jan-23 08:16:38

Your GS will have a ball at his Spider-Man party Grandmabatty. My GS had one at his previous birthday and was excited too. He said and still does that it was the “real” Spider-Man!
That reminds me DIL sent me a photo last night he’s proud that he’s lost his first baby tooth 🤣

Hope your cold isn’t too troublesome brook

Pittcity Sat 14-Jan-23 08:20:52

Good morning from a dark, damp, dismal Colchester.
We had a lovely afternoon yesterday chatting with sisIL who we don't visit often. We were supposed to be planning a trip to visit family in the US but as she doesn't do online it'll be a long drawn out process of cheques and visits to the Post Office for her while we'll do ours in an hour or so from the comfort of our sofa.
We then went to share takeaway pizza with DD and DGS who live near sisIL.
DH is out most of the weekend and DS is visiting his GF so I have an empty. I'll walk to Aldi once I've made a list and maybe hunker down with a book or TV later.
Love to all 🦩x

karmalady Sat 14-Jan-23 08:21:07

good morning, more yellow warnings here in s somerset and very noisy lashing rain in the early hours. My patio is looking greener by the week, the slabs are thankfully non slip and it will be a very satisfying clean-up this spring

Yesterday was lovely and very satisfying after a lethargic start. Today I plan to take everything out of a large chest of drawers. I know some things are in good condition but unloved so they will be put into a neat pile for the charity shop. I am looking forward to this today. Sorting always makes me feel lighter in spirit

Marydoll Sat 14-Jan-23 08:26:09

Good morning all from a wet again Glasgow, where it's 7°C.

I would love to list my exciting plans for the day, but there are none! The main event of today is to try and wash my hair! I look like I have been dragged backwards through a hedge.
Yesterday I got up for a bit, but had to go back to bed.
I must try harder.

We had an unexpected visit from DS2 and DIL last night. I think the original quiet man is worried about his mum, (he never shows his feelings and says little), for they stayed for ages.
The visit was full of baby talk, DIL only has thirteen weeks to go. I have never seen my son so excited and happy.
The new baby is my incentive to improve my health, if possible.
When wee Dollie was born, I was also very unwell, but determined to get out with the pram and show her off. She changed our lives, in such a big way.

I have one piece of good news. Yesterday I plucked up courage to phone the chaotic pharmacy, regarding the new heart meds. For the life of me, I couldn't remember the name.
Me; I think it begins with A
Pharmacist; Definitely nothing here, please give me a moment,
They actually begin with Z!! I will need to check (lots of rummaging and clicking on the computer).
Yes, we have them!, 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Me: Has my difficult to obtain RA medication turned up?
Pharmacist; It has!!,
Me (through gritted teeth): Can you please tell me why, I haven't received texts to say they were ready?
Profuse apologies followed with an added bonus, a special request prescription for anti spasmodic and anti nausea medication was also waiting to be collected. It doesn't take much to lift my spirits, as nausea is also a symptom of my condition.

After my recent rant on a call with one of the GP partners, there seems to be an improvement in the way the surgery are treating me, when I call.
DH thinks there is a note on my record. BEWARE! Scary lady alert!

For those, who are unwell, I hope you feel better soon.
So many here carrying a heavy burden of family worries.💐
Enjoy your day, whatever your plans, I love to hear about your doings.

Thank you for all the best wishes, my virtual friends. They keep my spirits up! 🥰

Morning Mick, morning All. Excuse me sighing, it’s raining, again, our corner of Somerset needs wringing out.

Yesterday we had bright blue skies along with a very strong wind. After a call to our distressed goddaughter we decided we were off to see some spectacular waves before a meander around some independent shops and a very enjoyable lunch. Not wanting to be back indoors a short drive took us to a marina. A very decent day and totally unplanned.

It was a day for distressed folk on the phone. Our friend has been forbidden driving until an eye problem resolves which means she can’t visit her very unsettled husband in his care home. No public transport accessible to her, the 50 mile return trip too costly by taxi. We talked about possibilities, sadly her general health make most feel a mountain to high, equally sadly the 200 mile round trip means we can’t help as we would have done in the days we were neighbours. This getting older lark brings challenges for sure.

Quiet day ahead for us, a technical challenge to overcome so Mr C can take a long unused Kindle to a potentially all day hospital appointment next Friday. Busy week ahead so best make use of the time today.

Safe trip urms and to all on the move today. Good luck on Monday mick. Thinking of marydoll and all facing health challenges, large or small.

Take care everyone. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

ShazzaKanazza Sat 14-Jan-23 08:29:32

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. It’s very wet and bleak this morning.

Enjoy your day Tommo it sounds idyllic 👋

Safe journey Urms have a lovely 10 day break.

Today we are treating our children and Grandchildren to Pizza Express. GS loves it there and eats well.
Tonight I’m having a little birthday party at home for nearest and dearest I didn’t see on my birthday last week. It will be nice for son and daughter to get some adult time leaving the GC well looked after.

Thinking of our poorly friends today but hope everyone can find something to enjoy in their day. 🌻🌻

cornergran Sat 14-Jan-23 08:30:22

Crossed posts maryd. A big smile here at the success with your medication. smile.

EkwaNimitee Sat 14-Jan-23 08:30:54

Good morning Mick and everyone from cloudy Carlisle. It's not raining at the mo....but probably will later. Hopefully I will be back by then with the weekend papers which I am about to pop out for.
So...happy holiday Urmston, Hello to you Tommo, you're relatively new here? I've not managed Darwin yet but it's on my list. And thinking of you Marydoll and hoping you are managing to be up and about.

And have a pleasant weekend, all.

Liberty Sat 14-Jan-23 08:42:30

Good morning from a wet and windy Suffolk. After a dry day yesterday there seems to have been torrential rain in the night. I feel so sorry for those poor people living in areas that regularly flood. I saw pictures of York yesterday where the Ouse had burst it’s banks and remember from years ago how the pubs along the river in the centre of York had suffered after a similar event several years ago and the damage they sustained for many months afterwards.

A quiet day ahead in which I shall happily start on an Elizabeth Strout book lent by a friend with the dog no doubt curled up by my side on the sofa. DH going to try and get his old mobile phone sorted out. It seems to randomly switch itself on and rely old messages! Modern technology.

Hope those not feeling too good have the best day possible and others have a pleasant and positive time.

Gingster Sat 14-Jan-23 08:44:16

Good morning all and it’s breezy and wet here in Essex. Feeling chillier too.

Yesterday, as it was a dry day, we reconditioned the front door. It’s a composite and has faded in the sun, wind and rain. It looks 100% better but probably a new one will be on the cards . The look of a front door is so important, don’t you think!

We had drinks and a snack with our usual gang yesterday lunchtime, huddled around the log fire. So easy and cosy with pals we’ve known for more than 50 years.(the chaps were at school together , so 60 years for them ) We all know each other so well.

Today I’ll be hunkered down. Dh and DS hope to go to footie, but I think it’s unlikely in this weather. Dh will be upset as he loves his footie especially with his boy!

Tommo welcome to gransnet and lovely to hear from Darwin. We were there 7 years ago, stopping off in our world cruise. I think it’s the hottest place I’ve ever been, - we spent most of our day in the wonderfully air conditioned library there. A lovely cafe too.

Safe and trouble free journey Urms. Send us some 🌞. It’s getting colder again here next week. 🥶.

Hoping you all have a ‘good’ day.

Susan56 Sat 14-Jan-23 08:58:53

Good morning from Shropshire.Another day of sunshine and showers forecast.

I am planning to change the bedding and spring clean the bedroom this morning then this afternoon will hopefully be spent reading.DH will start painting the kitchen today.

Glad the medication has finally arrived Mary🥳

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

kittylester Sat 14-Jan-23 09:00:30

Goodcmorning all from North Leicestershire where we have some gentle rain - makes a change from the usual heavy rain.

DS1 is coming for brunch as he and DH are going to the football- a local Derby and I am going to venture into the village for a visit to the florist fjor the first time since early September.

After all that excitement, I will read and watch the TV under my heated throw all afternoon.

Sending healing thoughts and love to all who need them.
