As Mick is away, I thought I’d open up as he usually takes a break from doing so when not at home.

Good morning from a cloudy part of La Sarthe.

Yesterday the NE wind made it bitterly cold so I was glad to be indoors. It marked 12 weeks since I had open heart surgery to repair my mitral valve. This means I can stop taking the extra medication prescribed for this period, mainly blood thinners. It also means I’m now safe to lift heavy items like the iron!!

For anyone facing this treatment, I can honestly say I experienced little pain at any stage although the cardiac rehab team advised continued regular use of paracetamol, which I didn’t need to take after the early weeks. Similarly, procedures related to my after care (removal of stitches, etc) were not a problem, despite warnings to the contrary.

No plans for today but we hope an engineer will turn up to sort the failed WiFi. I’m currently connecting to Gransnet via 4G on my phone. We’ve had several power cuts in the night: the joys of living in rural France!

Enjoy whatever the day brings and get well wishes where needed. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from the south coast where we have no frost for the first time in a week. I can see the grass plus a few bulbs poking through the soil. The birds are busy in the bird feeders and we keep topping them up several times a week. No big plans today except painting some doors white from blue which has required several undercoats and today is the top coat. We’ve lived here for one year now and still things to do. Still, it whiles away gloomy January.
Good wishes to one and all.

Good morning from East London . Cloudy but still very cold even though no frost today. Gentle exercises in the swimming pool today . There’s no instructor but we all do our physio exercises and loosen our muscles and joints.
I need to buy some birthday cards for several birthdays coming up so will do that on my way back. I have managed to get an appointment with the physiotherapist who has sessions at our GP surgery . My other hip is really bothering me now, so would like to get on the replacement queue hoping he can do it as no GP appointment available for weeks unless urgent !
DS arrived early this morning to continue renovating the doors for their en-suite extension. He has to take the remainder of his holiday this month so has this week off . Short staffing has led to many of the senior staff being unable to take annual leave..

Good morning all, and thanks to Ash for opening. I slept late again this morning, but have woken up to a glorious day in my little bit of the Angus coast - currently 7° and forecast to rise to 10°. The washing is ready to go out so I shouldn't linger on here. So glad your recovery has been so trouble-free Ash and that all is going well with your house sale grandmattie. Last year DS1 put his house on the market "to test the water". He sold it the first day with an offer he couldn't afford to refuse! I hope you have an equally pain-free sale. By the way, it's January which is my least favourite month - it always feels so looooooong and is so dark and dismal and February heralds Spring. But with the unpredictable weather we have these days, who knows!
Nothing to report from here, except that I may take my morning coffee outside in the sunshine today - I don't think I've ever done that in January before!
Marydoll I noticed on my scroll down (I'll come back later to read the thread properly) that you continue to have a horrid time. I'm so sorry - but glad you have your lovely man to look after you. I hope you feel a bit better soon.
Take care everyone and enjoy this day xx

Good morning from Glasgow. 8deg and dry so far. If it continues to stay dry, I would welcome a chance to potter in the garden.

I’m sorry to hear you still continue to have no respite from pain combined with lack of sleep Marydoll x
A warm welcome Leanneta

Hoping a good day is ahead for all
