Absolutely no. Terrible idea and a poor use of an inventor's time when there are so many other things that need inventing that could make lives better. An immediate thought is prevention of/cure for dementia. I've had a good innings and don't fear death as such though I do fear a bad death. There are too many bad deaths in an age when it doesn't need to be so. A pill to live for ever? Be careful what you wish for.

It seems to me that most of us become more pessimistic as we grow older, and I presume this would be the case if we could live forever. Probably, living for ever would make people blasé and bored - after all how many new experiences can there possibly be after the age of 100 and something?

I would not like to live in a world where there were no, or only very few, children and young enthusiastic people, which is what might well happen if we could live for ever.

I frankly don't believe it is possible to extend the cellular life of the human body indefinitely.

The over-population that many of you have already mentioned makes me afraid that if people could live forever, some kind of culling in the worst and most scary science fiction senarios would be instituted to get rid of the surplus.

Yes, as long I have good health (mentally and physically) and DH lives forever too.

I think I'd like to try it, as long as I was as able to remain in good health and could decide to stop taking it if I changed my mind. Only drawback is I'd probably be stuck as I am, old, creaking and losing my marbles a bit. Going back to work and not earning enough for a decent life, cold in winter, too hot in summer, might dampen my enthusiasm bit. Would be ok if family also had the same opportunity, although I can imagine my partner and I might fall out before eternity ended....

Yes. With a few conditions: That my loved ones also had the same privilege. That we would remain in good health, mind and body. And that there was an "opt out" clause that we could all choose to painlessly die at any point that we decided on.

We are all going to live forever- as we are spiritual being, merely encased in our bodies. The question is not if we are going to live but where and how we are going to spend eternity. Because I have given my life to Jesus Christ and I follow him I have my name in his Book of Life and will spend eternity with him. Most people reject Jesus in this life and do not follow him and will spend forever burning in torturous Hell (their choice). So you will live forever whether you want to or not. Your destination is a different matter. Choose Life.

I am happy to stay for as long as I am healthy but we all have a natural life span. I believe in an afterlife and that when my time comes I will be reunited with loved ones.

Blimey we would be standing shoulder to shoulder if we lived for ever and continued to reproduce.

Yes, I’d appreciate a bit longer please. Just starting to enjoy life. Always planning new businesses, new travel, time with son and husband and friends. My GP told me I am resilient. Can I have a new set of teeth without visiting a dentist?

Certainly not! My grandmother regarded every year after her 70s as a bonus because she was religious and believed that her alotted span was 70 years. She had made peace with her situation and once told me she would be happy "if the Lord takes me in my sleep tonight".
