Good to hear your DGDs surgery is over now annsixty and she’s recovering, hope she gets a good nights rest and you too 💐
Hoping MrJ is well on the road to recovery too Jax

Ali23 Wed 08-Feb-23 21:15:28

So pleased to hear that your granddaughter has come through ok, Annsixty.
I hope that she’s home soon.

Bellanonna Wed 08-Feb-23 21:18:36

Annsixty, that must have been an anxious time but I’m glad it’s all over now, and I wish her a speedy recovery from her surgery.

dustyangel Wed 08-Feb-23 21:18:56

annsixty 💐for you and 💐for you granddaughter as well. She must be so relieved as must you.

SueDomin You made me laugh. I’m occasionally shocked by the fingerprints on my specs but the dirty lenses that I mentioned were what the hospital optical department here called my eyes quite a few years after having a cataract op in England. I’ve googled and it’s possibly to do with being on steroids for another condition. It doesn’t help that I’ve changed countries for treatment. By going private for the cleaning which was simple laser treatment, I’ve jumped the queue but my reasoning is that it would frees up a place for the next person on the health service queue. Most people here have some form of medical insurance and happily mix the two.

annsixty Wed 08-Feb-23 21:19:50

Thankyou both I hopetp pick her up tomorrow afternoon.
I started a thread a few days ago about relative values and inflation.
This operation has cost just about what our third house cost in 1976.
In terms of satisfaction and peace of mind it has been well worth it.
Until she was 21 all my GD’s surgeries, 7, were on the NHS, many thousands worth so all thanks to them.
We are happy to pay onwards.

Grandmachrisy47 Wed 08-Feb-23 21:23:10

Urms, I also didn’t need new specs this time, but convinced myself I needed a pair with photochromic lenses to go with my normal specs and prescription sun glasses 😂

Jaxjacky Wed 08-Feb-23 21:24:22

The best news annsixty I wish her well and you, going forwards.

Naughtyneine Wed 08-Feb-23 21:46:35

I hope you and your GD can sleep much better tonight Annsixty. All good wishes for a speedy recovery too.

cornergran Wed 08-Feb-23 21:55:30

That’s excellent news ann. I’m delighted for you both.

Good to hear mr soop is improving.

Good to hear your issue isnt as serious as feared neine.

Productive day here. I’m off to bed. Sleep well everyone.

annsixty Wed 08-Feb-23 21:57:10

I am so relieved, you are all the best virtual friends anyone could have.
Like family really, I am sure you all feel you get the best support from everyone on here for all the problems that beset you, I know I do.

Grannmarie Wed 08-Feb-23 21:59:33

Good to hear that MrSoop and MrJaxjacky are steadily improving. I hope Mr Cornergran got some answers to his questions from his telephone consultation.
Annsixty, what a worrying time for you, I hope your DGD's surgery improves her quality of life.

Yesterday, my sisters and I visited our friend who is now home after her amputation. It was lovely to see her happy in her own clothes in her own home, IYKWIM. She is an inspiration, she has been so positive throughout. Her daughter, DSIS2'S childhood friend, was there, organising medicines, carers, household alterations...such a lot to coordinate, but they'll get there.

Today I went to our Parish Coffee morning, after Mass. It was well attended and everyone was asking for our friend, she has volunteered at the Coffee morning for many years. We'll work out how to get her back there very soon.

Another dear friend and former colleague visited this afternoon. We had soup and shortbread, then had a walk in the woodland at the bottom of our street. It was cold but dry, good to catch up.
TOYA, NNGB.

Ladies could you keep your fingers crossed or a little prayer. DOH has a second interview this afternoon. It's for a position that he is well qualified to do and has done. My heart is in my mouth for him as he do deserves this... His confidence was at an all time low when we met... He was constantly being told he was useless and everything he did was wrong along with some disgusting language. He says that it's because I believed in him he has found the confidence to go forward in all manner of things from building planters for the decking...to repairs and more to apply for this Senior Managerial role. Qué Sera Sera .

cornergran Thu 09-Feb-23 11:40:57

Fingers firmly crossed here neine. Let us know how he copes, I guess you'll have to wait for the outcome.

Mr C's telephone call was enlightening and worrying in equal parts. Oh well, on with the testing and there's a clinic appointment at the end of the month which will clarify. As he says no point worrying until we know. Sensible man.

Hope all poorly folk are recovering,

On a lighter note we've had a remarkably thoughtful and knowledgeable young man here this morning to prepare a quote for some new flooring. I may be in serious shock afterwards and need a lie down along with a large glass of something.

Admin to finish now, lunch next and then off out to try to match some emulsion and have a short stroll in the sunshine that has emerged from the gloom.

Take care everyone.

brook2704 Thu 09-Feb-23 12:25:06

Fingers and toes crossed here for your OH neine and also for your DH corner, hope the upcoming appointment can put your mind at rest
It’s a cold blustery day here, I’ve been out in the garden for an hour but now come in for a warm up
Hope MrSoop is feeling a bit better today

Grannmarie Thu 09-Feb-23 13:10:25

A wee prayer 🙏 to St Joseph the Worker for your OH, Neine.

Hoping MrSoop and MrJaxjacky are feeling a bit better today.

TOYA

soop Thu 09-Feb-23 13:32:39

annsixty Bless both you and your granddaughter. I also wish her a speedy recovery.

Jax I trust that Mr J , like MrSoop, can thank the antibiotics for helping him through a troubling time.

THANK you all for supporting each other. THANK you for offering kind words to Mr Soop. He feels very much improved. Which means that I can relax and return to a more normal routine.

He has asked me to order some garments for him from Cotton Traders. Oh the faff of measuring him! He made me laugh. Not a bad thing.

Last nights storm was short and sharp. The power supply didn't falter. Although we had torch and candles ready, just in case.

Away to place the order. I need Sloggis. They are very expensive, methinks. However they fit like a dream and are are blissfully comfortable. So, here goes. smile

soop Thu 09-Feb-23 13:35:47

Neine Positive vibes for your OH and for your DH corner

Grandmabatty Thu 09-Feb-23 14:25:19

Kitcheners, I'm feeling a bit meh today and annoyed at myself. I talked myself out of going to art class. Naughty fingers crossed for your DOH. Annsixty I wish your dgd a speedy recovery. Soop I'm glad your dear man is mending. Jaxjacky 💐
I have tidied the kitchen, hoovered and washed all the floors. I have spotted a mark on the glass panel of the living room door so I'm off to clean it. Brook I should be tidying up the garden bed, but I don't have your discipline. Grannmarie it sounds like you have a good friend there. Cornergran enjoy your walk. I think I will wallow in my laziness this afternoon and aim for productivity tomorrow. Have a good afternoon kitcheners.

soop Thu 09-Feb-23 15:36:47

After much oohing and ahhing, we've coped with placing the order, online for garments that we both need. What a kerfuffle!

Do any of you lovely lot have any idea of the cost of those tiddly baby cars? I would so love one. Not for going on long journeys, mind. I would appreciate being able to drive the three miles to the local shop from time to time. I know that Mr Soop will take much persuading. Perhaps, if I casually mention the subject from time to time, he'll "think about it". It all depends on the cost. Just because a car is small, it doesn't follow that the price tag is too.

soop Thu 09-Feb-23 15:49:02

Time for a refreshing brew. We enjoy watching Tipping Point and The Chaser. Both like to outsmart the other. wink

Goodbye until tomorrow's gathering in a kitchen. A group hug in the meantime. smile moon

soop Thu 09-Feb-23 15:49:45

Should be The Chase.

kittylester Thu 09-Feb-23 16:13:10

Glad MrSoop is feeling better, soop, and well done on doing the ordering. As far as the car goes, surely the trick is to get him to think it was his idea! grin

Let us know how your DH gets on Neine. And, corner you know it's really easy not to worry once someone tells you not to. grin

Ann sending big hugs to both you and your DGD. Sending hugs to everyone else too. I find it difficult to remember everyone - but I've been poorly, you know!!!! I asked my friend how long I could keep using that as an excuse and she told me '5 more bl***y minutes, that's all!' Not very sympathetic at all really. grin

I have had an indulgent few days. I have had my hair done (and boy did it need it!!) my feet done and bought some new clothes. And, best of all DD2 and family are coming for the weekend.

hulahoop Thu 09-Feb-23 16:17:29

Naughty fingers crossed for your oh.Haven't posted for a while glad to see poorlies are improving ,we are moving things about decorater coming on Monday to do hall ,staircase and landing.

Urmstongran Thu 09-Feb-23 16:18:09

I’m obviously not quite switched on this afternoon soop as these were the type of car that first came to mind when you asked!
🤣

Naughtyneine Thu 09-Feb-23 16:58:28

Yippee ... He did it. Thank you for all good wishes and prayers. I'm over the moon for him.
