Fingers crossed that Mr Soop is up and about soon, Soop.
NaughtyNeine , scary stuff! I’m so pleased that the news was the best it could be. Well done to our lovely NHS for moving swiftly and smoothly!

Soop's warm and welcoming kitchen for kindly folk...
(1001 Posts)Welcome dear Kitcheners. Make yourselves comfortable. There is a tasty, virtually calorie-free buffet ready and waiting.
Like the spex LLFL!
(I had you down as a blonde - funny how we imagine folk isn’t it?).
I went to the cinema late afternoon with friends. Went to see ‘Tár’ but for various reasons ended up seeing Speilberg’s ‘Fendelman’. It was okay but I didn’t love it. My yardstick is ‘would I recommend it?’. Not this one.

Duh. Shows my level of engagement, I couldn’t even get the title right.
Morning! Well, only just. We were down in Kent on Monday evening, ready to babysit DGS2 for a few hours in the middle of the day yesterday. It was our first time flying solo, and his, apart from the odd half hour. He tried formula milk from a bottle on Monday for the first time, and fortunately loves it! He was as good as gold and since my superpower is getting babies to sleep, we didn’t have to resort to a walk in the pram.
I drove back (DH has developed sciatica) and have DGD’s cough so I had a hot toddy and an early night. So WHY am I wide awake at this hour?
I hope MrSoop is doing well and that he is fast asleep!
It’s WI this afternoon - the speaker had better be interesting or I shall nod off. The competition is ‘a memento of your mother’ so I shall take a crystal sherry glass and a bottle of amontillado. Mum & Dad always had sherry!
Hope you are all sleeping and have a good day tomorrow.
Just don't drink any sherry, Topsy, or you will nod off!
I'm glad all the poorly people are getting a little better.
You know me too well Kitty!
Hot foot from not having something life changing I am booked in for aqua aerobics at 12.30 and I'm on bottle feeding one of the new lambs at 2. I do hope Mr Soop is MUCH better today and our Soop can relax a bit. I've attached a picture of me with the new arrival born on Friday night. I look very au natural or peely wally as my Mum would say but it has been a bit of a week.
Lovely picture neine you’ve a really nice smile 😃 That lamb looks like he’s about to eat you!
Hoping Mr Soop is feeling a bit better today
We had a lovely evening yesterday with 8yr old DGD staying over, funny how they’re always better behaved for me when on their own and there’s no teasing or bickering. She got a really good nights sleep and then we dropped her at school this morning. I got a glimpse of DGS running into school with his coat half on and off and kicking his football along. That boy never goes anywhere without it, I’m sure it’s permanently attached to his foot
I’ve been at the gym most of the morning, I’m trying to build up my upper body strength a bit as I’m such a weakling and don’t want to get any worse. I struggle lifting much weight above my head which is no good when travelling alone and need to lift your cabin bag into the overhead locker! I’m lucky that one of the trainers at the gym understands my capabilities and tailors the exercises to what I can and can’t do - Still get a good workout though!
Sounds like you did very well with looking after DGS nannytopsy , hope you got some sleep later after being awake at an ungodly hour!
A late hello to you lovely lot. Once again, thank you for your support and forgiving me for being absent without leave.
Naughtyneine Your smile is beautiful, as is the wee lamb.
I have better news regarding Mr Soop. He really does seem much improved today. In fact, he invited me to search the internet for wallpaper.
We have therefore spent far too long trawling the various outlets. The design we both liked seemed ideal. And then...a notice flagged up on screen...^do not deliver to Scottish islands^. What the heck!
I have now to wash the lunchtime dishes (and make the bed). Shame on me.
I have a feeling that, by tomorrow, weather permitting, (severe gales forecast later that "may disrupt power") I shall return to our kitchen with a spring in my step. In the meantime, my very best wishes to you all.

Such good news about Mr Soop. Was it the hot toddy? Onwards and upwards.
I have just got back from a wonderful funeral for a wonderful lady. The last time I went to a funeral which was standing room only was for my father. This was the same, jam packed with people standing around the edge of the church. The service was perfect with four eulogies plus an address from the Vicar. Afterwards we had a buffet lunch and reminisced. It is the Local History Society tonight, which I’ll toddle along to. Have a good evening.
soop I’m so glad that Mr Soop is feeling a little better today, I’m sure he will now improve daily.
I’ve been battling to place an order with Lands End company in England. If I can place the small order in time, my daughter will bring it with her when she visits next Wednesday. I think I’ve placed the order this morning but as I spent the morning going round in circles I have no idea whether it’s all gone through or not. Of course I can’t get through on the phone to check either!
Frustrating but not a matter of life or death, maybe their lines will be better later.
DH had a private eye hospital appointment last week with the local hospital. His quote for having cataracts done was very high but while we were there he suggested that I ask how much it would cost to have my “dirty lenses” cleaned. It cost 135euros and they could do it that afternoon. So we waited until the end of usual appointments and I had it done. Only one eye is done at a time and I don’t know whether I’ll have to pay again when the other eye is done but it was really, really worth it. They’d said that I might not notice anything until the next day but I could see better instantly and it has been improving ever since.
I thought my iPad was on its last legs as the print was so faint. Well it might be but the print is miraculously returned to normal and I can read again on my kindle without resorting to the largest print possible. Something I was dreading turned out to be totally pain free as well.
Dh is going to check with his doctor how long the waiting lists are at Faro hospital to have his cataracts done there ( we think it’s about three years) but having realised how bad my eyes were, I now think the sooner the better for his to be done so that he can keep driving safely.
Lovely photos from Neine and LadyLFL. Lovey glasses by the way LadyLFL.
That’s great news Soop.May he continue to improve.
Lovely photos Neine and LLFL.
Another cold but sunny day.We have been tidying the garden today another job done.DGS2 went back to school yesterday but he’s struggling with the stairs.Should get an appointment at the fracture clinic this week and then it’s half term next week so that will help.
Have a good evening everyone.
‘Evening All’
from a happy bunny here in Urmston. I went for a routine optician appointment today and was delighted to be told No Change. I’ve had the same spex now for 4 years & im happy to continue to wear them - especially as the prescription lenses alone (varifocal) are top of the range and they alone cost £400! New frames would add another £200+ 😱
At present I’m trying to save money.
I’m weighing up my Needs -v- my Wants. As new spex are a Want, I can manage without!
Hi kitcheners,
Lovely photo NN pleased to hear that Mr.soop is feeling better.
A lucky escape financially Urmstongran
I came in from the gym earlier, tidied round the kitchen, sat on the sofa and went straight to sleep, most unusual for me obviously I needed it. Off to cook dinner, sausages, onion gravy, mash, cabbage and runner beans.
Nightie Night 🙋♀️
£400? Urmston ?
Mine are Nikon and came in at £650 (+ £150 for the frames- every two years seems to be what suits me so cost per wear is about £1 a day - which when I look at it that way doesn’t sound quite as bad
£450 for lenses & £250 approx for frames for me.
Yes of course I agree Maw about the ‘cost per wear’ (I’ve reasoned this with myself on many occasions!) but one still has to have the wherewithal to pay in the first place. I’ve checked my knicker elastic. Nope ...
🤣
Evening Kitcheners. Soop I'm glad to hear MrSoop feels a bit better. Naughty what a lovely photo. Nannytopsy such a handy super power to have! Mine is winding up grandsons. Urms good for you! No new specs required. Like Maw, it costs me a fortune as I have peculiar eyes. Brook it sounds like you had a lovely time with dgd.
Today I went to visit my friend who is now home from hospital. I had laid flowers on her behalf at the Chapel of Remembrance for her mum. My dear pal was having a bad morning and is riddled with anxiety. Her partner isn't much better. However they were pleased to see me and she was extremely grateful for the flower drop. It is the least I could do for her. The afternoon was spent lying down as I felt tired after the two days of childcare.
Chorizo and gnocchi in a tomato and vegetable sauce for dinner was very tasty and I have enough for tomorrow too. Dsil has just popped in to get my KitchenAid as dd wants to borrow it to make a birthday cake for her niece. I probably won't see it back now til after dgs1's birthday later this month. The weather is horrible here. Really windy, heavy rain and occasional sleet. I hope you have a good evening Kitcheners.
Dustyangel please explain about your ‘dirty lenses’! I cannot imagine what they are, unless you’ve dropped your specs into your dinner!
Glasses can be so expensive, though we were pleasant surprised with dh’s recent new ones which came in at about half the price they were last time and they allow him to see much more clearly! I have been telling him for the past two years that I thought the prescription was wrong, because he could only read close up with one eye shut but no, he said the optician couldn’t possibly be wrong. Lo and behold, an optician who listened, saw what was wrong in the prescription and now dh can read without looking like a pirate with one eye closed. Of course, if he’d listened to me in the first place….but what do I know? 🤔
That’s excellent news about MrSoop - onward and upward! I wonder if the Soops have the same weather as us, very windy and the rain is lashing down.
NaughtyNeine I’m so glad your condition wasn’t as severe as suspected, such good news. That photo of you with the lamb is adorable! Speaking of peely wally, my dd had a patient last week who was describing her ‘funny turn’ and said that she had turned very pale. She then looked at dd and said ‘But not as pale as you are!’ Poor dd! 😂😂
We had our first session with our personal trainer this morning. He’s very kind and patient with us oldies! Some of it was quite taxing but I hope that means our strength and stamina with improve. It’s interesting to feel muscles being used that generally, you’re aware of. We will mark our progress on an app, but I have to say, when he demonstrated it to us, accompanied by much ‘You just do this and just do that’ it all seemed a bit beyond me!
Then it was shower and hair wash, throw together a chicken casserole in the slow cooker and go out to get GD from school and to her dancing class then bring her here for her dinner. Then it was time to get her home…I swear if there was a prize for prevaricating, GD would win it. I know grandparents are supposed to have so much patience but really, mine was truly tested. 😂
So a quiet evening now and time to catch up with ourselves.
Take care everyone. Xxx
soop, I’m glad to hear Mr Soop is improving. Big kiss to him from his gran fans X
Hi all, lovely specs llfl and a cheery photo Neine. I’m very pleased Mrs is on the up.
Hope you get your order dusty , boys and footballs brook, Fin is the same.
I get my varifocal glasses from Asda, I have an astigmatism in one eye, but get two pairs for just over £200, including photochromic lenses, bargain.
MrJ finishes his antibiotics tomorrow and 2 more nurse appointments, we’re hoping that’s it.
Enjoy your evening.
Good evening all.
All this talk of opticians and glasses makes me realise I am overdue for an appointment.
I have had reminders which have gone by the board due to other troubling matters.
I have AMD , the wet kind, I only have very peripheral vision in my left eye.
I had nearly two years of monthly injections and then laser treatment for another condition in the same eye.
No difference at all and the consultant at the hospital told me it could go on for years and many people stop treatment after a time as it will not cure it.
I decided to accept the inevitable.
Mt GD has had elective surgery today for an issue devolving from her birth defect.
I left her there full of trepidation, she went into theatre at 1:45 and was back in her room at 6pm , she is tired and emotional but it all went well.
Thank you to the gods who look after us all.
You will be relieved your granddaughter’s op is done now annsixty. Rest up and breathe.
