Welcome dear Kitcheners. Make yourselves comfortable. There is a tasty, virtually calorie-free buffet ready and waiting.

Oh corner I really feel for you, your friend and your goddaughter, it sounds so difficult for everyone, sending 💐but wish there was more that could be done to help. Hope tomorrow goes ok, I’ll be thinking of you x

Good evening all, I had a “bracing” walk by the river this afternoon followed by a mug of hot chocolate and a nap snuggled up in my Oodie. The GP rang just before lunchtime to tell me the results of my blood tests. Everything was fine and my blood sugar has reduced ‘significantly’. I was so happy to hear this after my disappointment when the diabetes prevention program hadn’t worked for me. I wonder if the reduction in blood sugar might have contributed to the fatigue, and if the fatigue might settle down a little now. Anyway, for the time being I’m just going with it and sleeping if I need to.

I’m definitely ‘on the up’, I slept really well last night.

Happy Birthday to Mr BA, have a lovely break.

These are my new glasses, and my recently cut hair grin.

Jaxjacky Fri 17-Feb-23 22:01:56

Hair envy Blossoming 🤞you’re well on the up, good news on the bloods.
Village butcher had beef skirt on offer, so I bought some of that and a marrow bone, I’ll slow cook it this weekend, we’ve friends coming for dinner next week when it will be reheated.
Tesco delivered, MrJ visited his new bf’s, the nurses 🙂 and I had a very out of character cleaning spurt which soon passed!
Enjoy the rest of your evening.
corner hoping for a trouble free visit for you tomorrow.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 17-Feb-23 23:02:14

You look lovely Blossoming. Well I am back from Kew. What an exhausting couple of days. My granddaughter is a delight but is on the go constantly. Her mum, my daughter and I watched her gymnastics show this afternoon. Before that we spent time at Kew Gardens where I stocked up on my favourite honey marmalade. The drive home was a bit grim. Friday evening on the M4 with rain is never wonderful. But we’re back and it’s good to see the spare room finished. Tomorrow will be spent putting everything back…

annsixty Fri 17-Feb-23 23:28:34

Your hair and specs are lovely Blossoming and so are you
You look about the same age as my Daughter which makes me seem very old, but then I am.

Blossoming Fri 17-Feb-23 23:37:07

annsixty I will turn 70 this year but I have always looked younger than my age. Not always a good thing though!

annsixty Fri 17-Feb-23 23:48:55

Well I find that so hard to believe, you look so young.
My D will be 58 this year so you are wearing very well indeed.
Good for you.

Baggs Sat 18-Feb-23 09:40:04

Glad you are feeling a little better, Bloss. Lovely pic 😊

Susan56 Sat 18-Feb-23 09:40:24

Beautiful photo Blossoming. You look very much like one of my daughters friends and she is 37!

cornergran Sat 18-Feb-23 09:53:20

You look fabulous blossoming. Can you feel the hair envy from here?

Currently sat in the day ward waiting for Mr C to return. Should be about another 45 minutes. If alls well will be off home mid afternoon. We arrived at 7.30 for an 8.30 admission. There was one blue badge space left. Phew. There are only 3. The few spaces in the access road were full. We felt very fortunate and both relaxed

Pleased you made it back safely ladylfl. Mr C used to travel in and out of London on Fridays, I remember how difficult the M4 can be.

No news from our goddaughter, a case of no news is good news with her so those worries are on hold for now.

Looking forward to a relaxing evening. I’ve a lasagne waiting in the fridge to heat through so our meal is easy.

Take care everyone. Hope your weekends are just right.

Naughtyneine Sat 18-Feb-23 10:03:16

Good luck today Corner...I hope all goes well for Mr C and the parking is easier too. I understand your God daughters frustration too. My Mother had a stroke and was well treated at a major trauma unit then transferred to a more local hospital where within 12 hours they put her on the toilet and left her there unattended ...she fell and they put her back into bed without checking her and it was only when I arrived and noticed her leg was at an odd angle and asked what had happened. They had given her paracetamol and said it wasn't anything to worry about. I asked to speak to the Hospital Administrator and was told they were not available. Luckily I knew that there was always someone on call and told them so. They then decided maybe they should x ray her and discovered she had fractured her hip. Grrr
I'm working today...I did yesterday too. I'm at DOH previous place of work ( There are 3 sites within the group). They have an event weekend and I'm hostessing. I enjoy it actually.. meeting and greeting and chatting to lifts of different people. I am a people person at heart. Yesterday was a bit different as a lady came in and was very distressed... Her partner has dementia and is in a home and as her story unfolded it was clear that she was very aware of wasted years long before he became ill. By the time she left I had arranged to go with her to an animal rescue centre to see if a suitable dog was available and also contacted our parish priest as she felt she wanted to talk to him too. Sometimes it really does feel as if you in a certain place at a certain time for a reason doesn't it ?

Grandmabatty Sat 18-Feb-23 10:10:03

Stunning photo Blossoming. You look lovely

Blossoming Sat 18-Feb-23 10:57:47

Thank you all for your kind comments. My hair doesn’t always look that tidy grin. I look very like my mother, which has been a great comfort to me in the years since her death.
I like the sound of honey marmalade LadyLFL, must google it.
Have a lovely weekend Neine, that was such a kind thing to do for that lady.
We have steam trains running today, the first one has just rolled across the bridge. I will try and get some photos on my walk later.

gillgran Sat 18-Feb-23 12:32:28

A lovely photo of a youthful looking Blossoming. I, too, have hair envy! &Your new glasses are great.

I hope all goes well cornergran.

Warm wishes to you all.

BladeAnnie Sat 18-Feb-23 13:31:02

Good afternoon all from our lovely lodge on East Yorkshire. Blossoming you look gorgeous 🥰. I had an eye test last week - and came awy with a considerably lighter purse 😭 - but can't wait to get my new glasses 😁. We are having a quiet and relaxing day recharging our batteries - just what the doctor ordered!! TOYA 🌷🌷

soop Sat 18-Feb-23 15:00:30

Yet more apologies from me, to you lovely lot. I shall endeavour to respond to some of your recent posts.

Yia Ouch! Itching can a drive a saint to despair. I trust that you will be able to find some lasting relief.
Duncan is gorgeous. Duncan knows it.

Blossoming, You are as beautiful as your name. Your frames are perfect. Eyesight is precious and deserves the best care you can afford.

Jax Continue with the nostril cream. More gentle hugs for MrJ. The cost of those drinks is beyond crazy.

Urms Your "me time" is important. Continue to enjoy it.

brook Long ago, my late Nana and I would take a bus ride to Cambridge. We would have an outdoor lunch in the garden of a hotel beside the river.

Belated birthday greetings to Mr BladeAnnie. Your wee getaway sounds perfect.

corner They say that troubles come in threes. You have surely had beyond your fair share recently. flowers

As for my search for an affordable Smart car, Mr Soop is prepared to investigate the matter in depth. We came across a very nice model in Inverary. It sold for under £3000 just this morning. Had a previous elderly owner. Reasonable mileage. Tip-top condition. Had we known sooner, we could have viewed it and made an informed decision. So...onwards and all that.

I have bedding to extract from the washing machine. Mr Soop helps me to fold and lift sheets over the rack on the pulley system in the utility room. We know how to live it up. wink

Charleygirl5 Sat 18-Feb-23 15:37:03

Blossoming the frames suit you to a T. I honestly wondered why somebody so young, closer to 40, was bothering with us oldies on GN. I am gobsmacked.

Corner that was really good finding the remaining Blue Badge parking space. Hopefully you will both be home before dark with a nice cup of coffee.

Re your friend, there is little one can do for a sacral # if there was no displacement. It will be rest and there is little else she can do at a Care Home.

soop Have you had a visitor recently for the best food in town? Sweetie Pie will soon fill his tum with at least 3 meals.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 18-Feb-23 16:37:24

Hello everyone. Well, the new room is neatly sorted. We moved everything back in and now await the curtains (next week) and wardrobe (end of March). I feel tired today. My arthritic right thumb has been really painful the last few days and I seem to have a cold. OH is cooking a Bol for dinner and daughter is having a bath. She is going back to London tomorrow so I hope to make her favourite roast chicken and all the trimmings. Pudding might be steamed marmalade pudding and custard. Have a good evening - I think we are having cocktails when daughter emerges from the bath.

brook2704 Sat 18-Feb-23 16:49:15

What a lovely picture Blossoming you do look so young. Love the new glasses and haircut!

BlueBalou Sat 18-Feb-23 17:16:07

Oh Blossoming, you look gorgeous!
I’m a similar age to you and look much older 🫣

That’s so frustrating about the car soop, I do hope you find one soon 🤞🏻
I took my car to the car wash place yesterday, it’s a completely different colour now! Lazy and indulgent I guess but I can’t do it at the moment.
I also collected 6 bags of gravel from B&Q. A very begrudging assistant dumped them on a flat trolly and walked off so I had to drag it to the checkout- I don’t know how I did it. I must have looked awful when I got there because the cashier took one look at me and several people came running. To my shame I ended up in tears because I was so breathless.
I won’t be going back there. A lovely young chap took them to my car, DH will bring them in.

I chose new glasses after my eye test yesterday, I don’t need to go again for 2 years!
I’m trying to brighten my appearance, I’ve had my hair cut, dug out the makeup and from tomorrow I will make more effort than drag on the nearest comfortable clothes. I have a wardrobe of nearly new clothes so no excuses.

A rather belated sort of New Year resolution I guess!

Onwards and upwards! I bought polyanthus at Lidl to plant up a trough; spring must be on its way 😄

brook2704 Sat 18-Feb-23 17:18:42

Hoping all went ok today corner and you’re home now. Also good that you got a parking space without any hassle
I’ve had a lovely but busy day, DH and DGS went out walking up a big hill and I met up with DD2 and DGD. I wrapped up warm and went for a walk by the River Ness and across the river via the Ness Islands. It was really lovely to be out in the fresh air even though it was cold.
Hopefully you’ll find another suitable car soon soop - keep looking!
Enjoy your hostessing neine and such a lovely gesture for that lady, I hope a suitable dog is found for her

Grandmabatty Sat 18-Feb-23 17:44:31

Evening Kitcheners. Ladyleftfieldlover I love steamed pudding! Your marmalade one sounds very nice. BlueBalou what a horrible experience for you! I hope you are ok now. Brook it sounds like a lovely bracing walk. Soop good luck with the search for a car.
Today I bought dgs1's birthday present. His birthday is on Wednesday but I won't be able to get to the shops on Monday and Tuesday. I hope he likes what I've got for him. I bought dgs2 a fisher price telephone too. When I got home, I cracked on with the housework and cleaned all the windows and glass too. Now I'm having a martini before dinner while watching Ben Hur. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Yiayia4 Sat 18-Feb-23 17:45:32

Blossoming you look stunning.

Thanks Soop.I’m still itching but meds are helping G.P said it will take a few weeks, then start new meds and a dexa scan.Good luck with the car.🤞

Still doing odd jobs around the house. We hope to get valuations next week with a view to putting our house on the market so we can start viewing properties, it is quite stressful.!

Hope you’re feeling better Jax and Mr.Jax. Enjoy BladeAnnie.
Have a great evening all.

cornergran Sat 18-Feb-23 18:10:12

Thanks for the info charley. It mirrors feedback from the hospital.

We’re home safe and sound. Mr C has had a couple of hours sleep and is feeling fine. A bit wobbly post procedure he bucked up after two cups of coffee, a sandwich and half my bar of chocolate. Me? I had his banana, he doesn’t like them grin. Once the whizzy strap on his wrist confirmed bleeding was unlikely he was discharged. We’ll get the outcome on 27th at a clinic appointment.

Quiet day tomorrow and Monday as Mr C is supposed to rest his hand and wrist, not easy with his dominant hand. I foresee a jigsaw.

Our meal is nearly ready, perhaps a glass with it and then a relaxed evening

Take care everyone. Thank you all for the kind messages.

Grandmabatty Sat 18-Feb-23 18:26:34

Glad to hear that Mr C and you are home safe and he is recovering
