What a lovely day to end your weekend Cornergran

Grannmarie Sun 05-Mar-23 20:10:19

Good evening Soop and lovely Kitchen people!🥰 I just lost my post when I tried to attach a photo...oops.

Congratulations 🎊 to your DSister, Soop, good for her! What a lovely photo.

Urms, Jaxjacky, YiaYia and Hulahoop, I'm so glad to hear better news about the wellbeing of your DHs, DSs and DGS. Such a relief for all involved. I hope your DH's appointment tomorrow is reassuring, Urms.

Lovely to read of all the happy family occasions, and all the delicious food enjoyed, Brook, LLFL, Grandmabatty and GG13.

Thinking of Blossoming and Doodle, hope you both get some rest tonight.

We had a nice visit to DS2 and family this afternoon. We hadn't seen The Wee Boy for a fortnight cos he was on antibiotics for StrepA and we couldn't risk DH catching it. The Wee Boy's extra day at nursery seems to include extra germs! We went out for a walk mid afternoon while it was still dry and bright. The Wee Boy started off on his scooter but quickly handed it to me and jumped aboard DH's mobility scooter. He stands between his Papa's knees and toots the horn!🤣

Relaxing on ghe sofa now, wondering what to watch...I'm missing CTM already.

TOYA, NNGB.

Crossed posts, Cornergran! What a lovely surprise and very thoughtful gift for you both from your DS, something to look forward to! Enjoy your evening. 🥰

It's been a beautiful Spring day here - blossoms everywhere! & now I'm heading off for the beach to relax...

Ladyleftfieldlover

That’s very good news Urms. Hopefully he will receive more good news tomorrow. I expect he’s a bit miffed about Man U?! I’m a Liverpool supportersmile

Oh LLFL What an embarrassing score! 😱
7-0 to Liverpool. Wow! They gave Man. Utd a bashing. Himself is still on Cloud 9 though from his text message. Nothing much matters than good health does it and we all go day to day pretty much not thinking about it. Taking it for granted even. Which is probably how it should be. But after a shock, then anxiety, good news is SUCH a relief and so very welcome.

I know he’s not out of the woods yet but I’m more hopeful that it’s looking good. I don’t want to hex things. I seem to have become a bit OCD or superstitious. It’s hard to explain but I think it’s ‘trying to be in control’. I realise it’s silly but I can’t stop myself thinking “if I do this/wear this/put that there it will be for good luck”.

I think it’s why footballers wear lucky socks etc.

Till tomorrow dearest kitcheners.

Urmstongran Sun 05-Mar-23 20:46:40

peli do you live in the UK?? Only it’s freezing here.
And I’m cosy at home in my pj’s.
😊

SueDonim Sun 05-Mar-23 22:39:09

Oh Urms that is good news indeed! I hope you sleep easier tonight and that tomorrow brings even more good news.

It sounds as though there have been some lovely weekends here in the Kitchen - hurrah! smile

I’ve had a busy few days. Thursday I met with two friends from where I used to live and we had a wonderful catch-up. We had GS on Friday. After having his lunch he napped until it was time to go home to mummy! Yesterday I went into town and got my nails done then saw my best friend, having a long leisurely lunch and putting the world to rights.

Dd1 invited us for dinner tonight so I could see the children before I go away, so that was a fun time. In between, I’ve been preparing for my travels to the US on Tuesday. So many bits of documentation needed and I’ve clicked a wrong button on the airline website and now it thinks I’m an American citizen and sending me emails in Spanish and I can’t undo it! 🫣 Hopefully the airport will sort it out when I get there.

Dd2 and her boyfriend arrive tomorrow so I’m looking forward to seeing her briefly before I leave on Tuesday.

Take care everyone. Xxx

This feels like a happy kitchen tonight! Let’s hope for more days like today.
Sleep 💤 tight

Good news Urms . Hope tomorrow’s appointment goes well.
Grannmarie love that photo and the thought of the Wee one riding with his Papa on the mobility scooter 😊

Susan56 Mon 06-Mar-23 08:02:58

Brilliant news Urms🥳💃🏻

Lovely picture of your sister soop.

Safe travels on Tuesday Sue.

soop Mon 06-Mar-23 13:57:57

Urms Your good news has raised a host of smiles.

Some lovely photos. Thank you for sharing.

We watched 'Endeavour', corner. A gentle series.

The wind is bitterly cold. The sun is shining. The waves are teal green topped with white horses. As the saying goes.

I have ironing to keep me out of mischief. No matter. My spirits are high since we've arranged to meet son number three and family in Glasgow in April. grin

Pittcity Mon 06-Mar-23 17:54:30

The kitchen seems to have dropped off of my Active feed, so I'm popping in to save my place.
Bloomin' freezing and wet here in Essex so I need a warm seat and a hot cuppa.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 06-Mar-23 17:58:20

I can only agree with you Pittcity I am just south of you and it is freezing, we had sleety rain earlier.

Grandmabatty Mon 06-Mar-23 18:44:59

Good evening Kitcheners. I'm bushed. Dgs2 refused to go for an afternoon nap despite really needing one. So this afternoon, after I picked up dgs1, was hard work. I started at 6.15 this morning too. Fortunately DD popped in on her way home to pick up the boys so that was a journey I didn't need to make. Steak casserole and potatoes for dinner and I'm having the last doughnut! An early night for me. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Grannmarie Mon 06-Mar-23 19:01:49

Well done, Grandmabatty, that is a labour of love. Relax this evening.

Soop, excellent news about your planned family meet up in Glasgow, something to look forward to indeed.

SueD, safe journey to the US, it will do you good to see your DS again. I hope all is going well with his treatment.

Thank you, Doodle, The Wee Boy fair enjoys a hurl on Papa's scooter!

I'm hoping and praying that Urms' DH had reassuring news today.

TOYA

GrannyGravy13 Mon 06-Mar-23 19:06:42

Safe journey SueDonim enjoy spending time with your son x

‘Evening All’

Well I have guardedly good news to share tonight. The nurse took another blood test this morning. She suspects pernicious anaemia.

Then she arranged for Himself to go back this afternoon for the first of 5 Vit.B injections. Finish next Wednesday so we’ve pushed our holiday back a week. Instead of going this Sunday we fly out to Málaga next Saturday afternoon instead but we feel relieved to be able to do this.

Funny how we did similar in January while we waited for my stepfather’s to have his course of Vit.B12 injections too,

As you can all appreciate, I’m feeling blessed tonight. And relaxed for the first time in ages. My emotions this past fortnight have been pretty labile.

Once again, I sincerely thank you all for your kindnesses. I’ve been so jittery and you have been such a supportive bunch here in the kitchen (and on the Good Morning thread too it must be said).

Grandmabatty you will be absolutely cream crackered tonight no wonder an early night is called for. brook you will be in Spain now I imagine? I hope you have a wonderful time. Photos please. It’s so cold here I’d love to hear of sunny days! SueDonim I didn’t realise you were off to the US of A tomorrow! Wowzer. Like everyone hear I shall look forward to receiving tales of your big trip. Safe journey and I hope your book in is hassle free.

👋 Doodle. I hope you and your husband will manage a decent night’s sleep tonight - you must both be exhausted.

GG13 I trust you are recharging your batteries in the midst of your social whirling? Be nice if you do manage to sort out a cheeky holiday somewhere so you can both Escape to the Sun soon!

Our flights a week on Saturday cost £250 for us both, one way - more than double what we usually pay but that happens when you can’t book ages in advance. Not with Mr O’Leary this time either - he wasn’t the cheapest - which is how we travel.
😊

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 06-Mar-23 21:07:12

Hello all. Well, I’ve had a busy day. Waitrose, Charity shop, laundry. I do hope Urms and her OH had a good day.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 06-Mar-23 21:09:04

Ah Urms, you’ve appeared! I’m so glad the appointment was so much better than expected.

Blossoming Mon 06-Mar-23 21:18:51

More good news Urms, so pleased for you. Safe travels SueDonim. That sounds like a trying day Grandmabatty enjoy your doughnut, I’m a bit jealous! Early night for me too.

Bellanonna Mon 06-Mar-23 22:13:25

Pleased for you Urms - you’ll enjoy your next Spanish trip all the more now!

Jaxjacky Mon 06-Mar-23 22:26:08

Much better news Urms phew!
Happy holidays to SueD and brook 🌞
Just got in from quiz, we were middl8ng, it’s cold and damp out.
Sleep well all.

cornergran Mon 06-Mar-23 22:31:51

Excellent news urms. My Mum had pernicious anaemia and even so many years ago - I’d say over 60 - it was treated with excellent outcomes

Goodnight everyone, sleep well

SueDonim Mon 06-Mar-23 22:43:31

I think everyone in the Kitchen will have heaved a sign of relief at your news, Urms. Pernicious anaemia is an easily fixable problem nowadays. I hope MrU is feeling perkier soon.

Thank you for all the good wishes for my trip to see ds1. I’m got a flight to London tomorrow then ds2 is joining me on Weds, when we fly to Chicago. No snow, please!!! We’re then accompanying ds to his third treatment on Thursday so we need to hit the ground running - jet lag will not be permitted.

My bag is almost packed - I think half of it is Percy Pigs and Marmite! grin Last bits in the morning.

Dd2 arrived at tea time so we’ve spent a bit of time together. By Weds evening I’ll have seen all my DC within a window of about 48hrs - that doesn’t often happen nowadays.

I’ll be checking in when I can. Be good while I’m away! 😁. TOYA. Xxx
