Good news Urms. What a relief.

I've been absent without leave for a week but just had a catch up on all the news. I'm working away from home just now but today I'm inbetween the 6 days of work so having a later start to my day. I'm going to a funeral later. My girlfriends Father... He was a gentle gentleman and much loved.
I am so happy to read so many lovely posts on here... It's been long awaited hasn't it ?
Urms... Prayers answered..I am so happy for you. I understood completely about your...if I do this etc. I thought I was the only one who did it. I used to say things like if I can get through the traffic lights without them changing then so and so will happen/not happen.
SueD... Have a safe journey and take our good wishes with you that all is well with your DS's next treatment. It will be lovely for you to see for yourself how he is doing.
Corner...a lovely end to a happy weekend for sure.
I loved that picture Granmarie...
I think I'm going to have to write down what everyone is doing as by the tube I've read all the posts I've lost track a bit. ( Blonde).
Soop...I've got the same condition in both hands after 2 separate falls. Drives me mad at times. Gorgeous pictures of your talented sister and GGC.
Yia...I hope the move progresses well. I moved twice in 8 months..one from the family home into rented accommodation then into the cottage we'd bought last March. Both times we did it ourselves..never again.
Jax...I hope things go on wards and upwards now with health issues. I must actually get up now..it's taken me an hour to read all your posts and write mine.
Love to you all especially those I've forgotten to mention.

I've just caught up with your news Urms. If it is pernicious anaemia my sil has had it since he was a boy. He gets regular B12 injections and is fine. A manageable condition. I was in bed early so I've missed lots of posts. I'll try to catch up during dgs2's nap

annsixty Tue 07-Mar-23 13:01:40

An early Good Afternoon to you all.
Although I don’t post much these days I do read most days and am pleased Urmstongran has positive news today.
I have been rather down and housebound but things are looking up at last.
My GD is back at work after her op, her recovery was much harder than she or I had envisaged and I was very tired looking after her but all is well now.
I have decided I must push myself to do more and get out more, consequently I was out for a meal with my friend on Saturday evening and then on Sunday I went to the cinema with GD and her friend.
It was so enjoyable, we had a glass of wine on the little tables between our seats and then I treated us to a simple meal, pizza for then and pasta for me in Zizzis just a step away from the cinema.

Emboldened by this I am going for coffee with another friend tomorrow and Friday a neighbour has invited me to meal at her house and Saturday I will go for my regular Chinese takeaway at another friend’s house.
There is no stopping me now.

However the icing on the cake is that yesterday I interviewed/ was interviewed by a cleaner and we both passed so she is starting next Tuesday .
It is over a year since my last one so I am very relieved.

I hope so very much that the same lightening of spirits can come into all my virtual friend’s lives.
Difficult but still hoping.
Have the best day you can everyone.

kittylester Tue 07-Mar-23 13:57:23

I am not posting so much either, Ann, but read every day.

But, I had to post after reading your really upbeat message. So glad your dgd is so much better and, even better, that you have a cleaner. I'd hate to be without ours. Enjoy all you outings too.

annsixty Tue 07-Mar-23 14:24:46

Thankyou kitty
I so hope you are getting back to something like normal again although I do know after something like you went through it has to be a new normal which we have to get used to and accept.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 07-Mar-23 16:12:45

Hello everyone. Well, as promised I have had a day in the kitchen. Three ice-creams are now resting in the freezer - caramel (I make my own caramel and don’t turn my back on it!), lemon and vanilla. As we speak there is a Barmbrack in the oven. The local shop had run out of mixed spice so I used extra nutmeg and cinnamon. Later on I’m making an oven baked mushroom risotto. OH should be back in time to eat it but then he’s going out again. I will watch the George Michael documentary which I recorded last night. Part 2 is on tonight. I hope you’ve all had a good day, especially those who are going through difficult times.

soop Tue 07-Mar-23 16:45:07

Welcome back, annsixty

We have had a very busy day. Mr Soop has had the sun-damage growths on his head zapped. The scalp looks very angry and is bloody right now.

We've also sorted out a better venue for meeting family in Glasgow. Talk about a palaver...needed to cancel one booking and confirm another. The exercise took yonks. Our nerves were a wee bit frayed when we finally sorted matters.

About to have a brew. We'll then watch 'The Chase'.

The sun is glorious. The wind is chilly.

I hope to spend more time with you lovely lot when I join you tomorrow. A lady is popping in for coffee mid-morning and bringing some photos of her beloved deceased dog. I shall then need to open up the so-called studio.

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. It’s a beautiful day here but so cold. I have been out for a walk. Lovely to hear your positive update Annsixty, the kitchen is feeling a much brighter place today with good news from Urms and family plans for Soop. LadyLFL your posts are always mouthwatering! Hope you’re feeling better Yia.

My daffodils are in flower, I really must cut back all the fuchsia twigs all around them!

Urmstongran Tue 07-Mar-23 17:16:00

An early ‘Evening All’ from me.

I’m in awe at your culinary skills LLFL 😊. Your ice creams sound divine. I’m not in your league. Not even close. I’ve just popped 2 Sainsbury’s TtD chicken & leek pies in the oven, put some potatoes on to cook and will open a TIN of ‘mushy peas’ soon to go with. Delia - eat your heart out. Actually truth to tell, I’m really looking forward to the pie. My low fat diet means they are pretty much not allowed but once every few weeks can’t harm!

Btw I weighed myself today & ive lost just over a stone and a half. My belly is flat. Still more to go but thank you Orlistat.

We are meeting friends soon in a bar just along the road. We arranged it ages ago. Himself has very sensibly decided not to drink alcohol whilst receiving these vitamin B12 injections, so he will have coke and enjoy the company he says.

Lovely to hear you sounding so much happier annsixty.
Your poor man’s head soop. Hope it’s not too sore tonight.

Grandmabatty Tue 07-Mar-23 17:19:11

Good evening Kitcheners. Poor MrSoop. Ladyleftfieldlover you are tempting me! It all sounds lovely. Annsixty it's nice to hear you feeling positive.
I've had a lovely day with the boys. Both of them were amenable and positively well behaved. We had lots of fun. My house is an absolute disgrace though. Dgs2 has learned how to climb onto my couch via the footstool so I can't leave him for a minute. I'm going to have a quiet half hour, then make dinner and do some tidying. I had more upsetting news last night. One of the quartet of four friends husband had a severe heart attack on Sunday and is in an induced coma. Anyway there's nothing I can do to help apart from pray for him. I hope Brook has made it to Spain safely.
Have a good evening Kitcheners.

Urmstongran Tue 07-Mar-23 18:22:45

Put that footstool upstairs out of the way on Monday & Tuesdays Grandmabatty!
🤣

Grandmabatty Tue 07-Mar-23 18:29:13

Unfortunately Urms I love in a bungalow! 😂 He is a quick learner and will get used to getting on and off

Grandmabatty Tue 07-Mar-23 18:29:29

Love, not love. Good grief

Grandmachrisy47 Tue 07-Mar-23 18:37:42

Grandmabatty, I’m sure you ‘love’ there as well 😀

Grandmabatty Tue 07-Mar-23 18:43:27

GrandmaChrisy I absolutely do! I moved when I retired four and a half years ago and I am really happy here in my wee bungalow

brook2704 Tue 07-Mar-23 20:59:23

Hi to all my kitchen pals, yes we’ve arrived safely thank you grandmabatty, the journey yesterday to Alicante was really good, no delays and a quick exit from the airport. Last night we stayed at a hotel in Alicante, but today we travelled onto to Cartagena, a new place to explore! We’ve got a lovely apartment on the Calle Mayor with everything we need, not noisy but with lots to look out on. We went out for tapas and a couple of vinos and now we’re settled in for the evening
Sorry to hear the sad news about your friends husband grandmabatty, a worrying time
I’m so pleased to be missing the snowy weather in Inverness, DD2 has kept me updated with how cold it is there but I’ve not dare mention the 21º and sunshine here.. Not long for you to wait now Urms, you’ll soon be feeling this warm sunshine too. Good news about your DH, so pleased things seem ok
Safe travels SueD, hope you’ve arrived by now and hoping all goes well for your DS. I bet he’ll be very pleased to see you
Lovely to hear from you annsixty and pleased you’re out and about. Zizzis is one of my favourite places to eat. Good news about your DGDs return to work and hope she’s feeling a bit better now
Love the daffodils blossoming, spring must be on its way!
We’re an hour ahead here so we’re off to bed soon, not at all like the locals who are just going out to eat! 🤣

Jaxjacky Tue 07-Mar-23 21:06:39

I hope today you’ve feel better Yia.
Good on you annsixty what a joyful post.
You too sound happy brook 21 sounds wonderful! I too hope SueD is now safely stateside and with her family.
A ‘bitty’ day, lots of odds and sods completed, it’s been grey and chilly, we’re on a snow warning, but I think it’s unlikely, shame, I love it.
Finley is now spot free, hurray, my daughter needs a hand op, boo, honestly!
Enjoy the rest of your evening.

brook2704 Tue 07-Mar-23 21:31:31

Good news about Finley Jax but not so good news about your DD, has she hurt her hand?

Jaxjacky Tue 07-Mar-23 21:37:59

A friend accidentally pushed her a couple of weeks ago and she fell brook a quick referral. She saw the consultant yesterday, the ligaments are so damaged she needs an op within a few weeks, local anaesthetic, week in a cast. Mum will be hospital taxi!

annsixty Tue 07-Mar-23 21:49:03

Good old mum, always there for emergencies.
Good luck to your D ,it sounds painful.
I fell many years ago and damaged inside both wrists, hard to explain, it was one of the most painful things I have ever experienced.
One week in back slab for one and a cast for the other.
To need an op must be really bad.

Grannmarie Tue 07-Mar-23 22:02:43

Thank you, YiaYia, Neine and peli, The Wee Boy loves his Papa's scooter!

Sorry to hear about MrSoop's painful scalp, I hope it heals quickly and completely.

Sorry about your daugher's hand, Jaxjacky, will she have to wait long for her op?

Glad things are improving for you and your DGD, Annsixty. Your diary is filling up nicely, enjoy your meet ups.

Enjoy Cartagena, Brook and DH, please send photos!

Sorry to hear about your friend's DH, Grandmabatty. 🙏

Condolences for your friend's father, Neine. 🙏

Fantastic weight loss, Urms! Well done you.

Safe travels, SueD, enjoy your visit to your DS. My sister and nephew are flying to Chicago on Thursday, to visit my brother and sister in law, and celebrate St Patrick's Day which is being held this weekend in Chicago.

This morning I joined our parishioners on the coach journey to the funeral of our young Parish Priest's Mum, taking place in their home parish. He said the Requiem Mass for her, supported by our Bishop, sixteen priests, including his friends from Oscott, and the Deacon. It was a sight to behold them, all wearing purple vestments, processing down the aisle to their places on the altar. The family P.P. gave a lovely eulogy for the lady, she was a devoted wife,
daughter and sister, and a very proud and loving mother and grandmother, well known and well thought of in the parish and in the village. It was sad to see her elderly mother, our P.P.'s Gran, mourning her daughter. The church was full and the choir and soloist were excellent. It was very moving, a fitting tribute. May she rest in peace. 💕💐🙏

TOYA, NNGB.

Urms: Picture of the evg beach walk.<-

LLFL: I love caramel! Yr kitchen must have smelled gorgeous whilst you were making it! & Barmbrack w/ extra cinnamon must be scrumptious!
