In view an the excellent thread about us often looking backwards, let's have a thread about looking forwards then.
So, have you anything planned for the next few months?
Would you like to achieve something? Go somewhere?
Learn something new? Meet someone new?
Anything, as long as it involves looking forwards.
I would certainly like to travel somewhere new and hope I achieve that at least.

We are just back from a few days away with good friends; other than that am looking firward to lighter nights and warmer days.

Thank you for this thread henetha. I am usually such a miserable, negative person but I realise I have much to look forward to.

I am looking forward to retiring and going away when I want too. Glad this thread was started.

Nandalot Sun 29-Jan-23 13:40:21

Oh, Kandinsky, that is sad. I found the sixties were one of the best times of my life. Being retired we had time to start doing lots of activities,U3A, yoga, bridge, weekends away and some holidays. Birth of twin grandchildren also brought joy. Having married and had children very young, it seemed like our time.
However, our 70s have not been so enjoyable, two lots of Covid, lockdown, various health problems but I have decided time now is the time to change that. Have booked a sunshine break for March and booked to see our son and his family, who live in Spain, for a few days in May. Our bridge club has started again though I feel I am too stiff and overweight to try yoga in a class I might try doing some chair yoga at home.

Despite the weather I rather like January - it holds out much hope, sort of a new beginning and all that!

In the pipeline I have a couple of weekends away, my oldest friend's daughter's wedding, and a visit to my son in Switzerland to look forward to.

Less exciting, there are any number of things that need seeing to in my flat that I really must tackle, having ignored them for the past couple of years.

I'm far from a Pollyanna but I aim to be positive!

Looking forward to sorting out all the seeds I collected in the autumn and replanting for next year to see what comes up i.e. Viper's Burgloss, soapwort, corn marigold, sunflower. Sadly, the acorn I had which sprouted in October has been stolen and eaten by Mrs Blackbird. Her needs are greater than mine. I grow them for the National Trust. And the huge weed which will be carried out early spring. Musk stork's bill has taken over my lawn and pots after the great heat last year.

I am staying with my DD for a few days she won’t let me do anything! I am not one for sitting idol but she is rather bossy I don’t know who she gets it from.
I am just wanting to see brighter weather so I can tidy up my veg beds they are a mess. Then I will prepare seed beds and look forward to enjoying sitting and pottering outdoors.

So sad to hear that Kandinsky feels that the best is over. Especially as she is only 59 !

I am looking forward to better weather.
Holidays and other activities with friends and family .
Learning and socialising at WI , and craft meetings.
Improving my sketching and painting skills, something I took up just last year. Also starting a pottery class this week.
I am 68 and my life is not perfect. All the usual ups and downs plus a couple of health issues. I try to stay optimistic and interested in life. We’ll be a long time dead so as they say Carpe Diem !

I'm looking forward to going to Portmeirion next month for a few days. I'm looking forward to a couple of lunches with (different) friends next week. I'm looking forward to the warmer weather and hopefully having a refresh of the garden so I can sit out in the sun and snooze away afternoons. We have a couple of other trips booked in Spring/Summer one is especially good as we will be joined by my sister and my best friend at a music (light opera) festival where there will be lots of chatting, eating, drinking and music. I do enjoy threads like this that emphasise positivity. Thank you henetha

Looking forward to DAD'S birthday next weekend. I can't believe she will be 6.
Also warmer weather and spending time in the garden.
Also looking forward to May 6th. I have a bus ticket from Cornwall to London and back to see the coronation parade.

Wyllow3 Sun 29-Jan-23 14:41:36

Oh, the spring, everything coming out in the garden and on the fells, longer days and the light, warmer and light clothes recovering health wise for more energy, just a bit will do, so's can see more of family.....

mmmmm some seaside is a must do smile

I'm quite envious of 'Giselle' and 'Madame Butterfly'. Hope you both enjoy your evenings. I hadn't realised how long it was since we went to the theatre so that's something else to plan and look forward to.

NannyJan53 Sun 29-Jan-23 15:04:03

I too am going to see the King and I in March in Birmingham Kate1949

Also, looking forward to Lanzarote in March and Portugal in May. Sicily in September for my 70th!

Going to Resorts World later today to see Florence and the Machine.

MrJ is 72 in March and I have booked tickets for 2 gigs later in the year.

Looking forward to Spring, and being able to get out in the garden more.

Kim19 Sun 29-Jan-23 15:07:48

Just looking forward to more of the good life I am currently experiencing. This is a constant round of lunches with different groups of friends and family. Sounds pretty mediocre but I love it.

Lucca Sun 29-Jan-23 15:11:02

Kandinsky and anyone else who has mentioned “boring”… I really don’t want to be a downer or or embarrass you, but I have terminal cancer and am getting weaker and I’d settle for boring specially as now I’m struggling to go out/ walk etc.
I have had to cancel a longed for trip to Italy plus a show here.
Please have a think about how you can change your mood/attitude! Boring can be great ! My “looking forward “:things are very reduced eg DS coming to stay and look after his Ma for a few days tomorrow 👏😀

timetogo2016 Sun 29-Jan-23 15:14:27

I am looking forward to a large family gathering in March.
It has been so long that we have ALL managed to get together.

shoppinggirl Sun 29-Jan-23 15:16:12

flowers for you Lucca x

FannyCornforth Sun 29-Jan-23 15:16:22

Lucca I’m with you on boring. thanks
If you’d told me last year that MrC would would be with me, I would have been very sceptical.
Enjoy the little things is my motto.

I hope that your son spoils you rotten Lucca!

Redhead56 Sun 29-Jan-23 15:21:08

Enjoy your time with your DS Lucca!💐

Ziplok Sun 29-Jan-23 15:31:06

Yes, I’ve a few things I’m looking forward to in the coming months:

A holiday booked just after Christmas

My DB and SiL coming to visit for a family gathering

A new occasional chair ordered today, coming in June (I know, a long lead time, but the one we have will last us til then, I can wait)

💐 Lucca
💐 Kandinsky

Judy54 Sun 29-Jan-23 17:05:37

Yes looking forward to:

better weather
a couple of theatre trips
socialising with family and friends
Getting back to doing Tai Chi again
enjoying our lovely country side and hopefully a day by the sea
Anything else of interest that comes up - always keen to try new activities.

adrisco Sun 29-Jan-23 17:10:54

Looking forward to theatre trips - to see Peter Kay, Miriam Margoles, Judy Collins, Dawn French and a production of Blood Brothers.

Aveline Sun 29-Jan-23 17:13:13

I'm really looking forward to my new voluntary job. I started last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. Came home buzzing.
We're off to see the Northern Lights in March and Italian lakes in the autumn. . In between those outings I'm happy to have apparently boring days. There is joy to be found in the mundane.

Wyllow3 Sun 29-Jan-23 17:14:10

Kandinski, Fanny and Lucca flowers flowers flowers lessons on living in the now and counting small blessings.

HousePlantQueen Sun 29-Jan-23 17:18:25
