In view an the excellent thread about us often looking backwards, let's have a thread about looking forwards then.
So, have you anything planned for the next few months?
Would you like to achieve something? Go somewhere?
Learn something new? Meet someone new?
Anything, as long as it involves looking forwards.
I would certainly like to travel somewhere new and hope I achieve that at least.

Very soon I'll be a pensioner, yipeeeeeee.I plan to use my bus pass to collect GS so he has a long ride.It will be great not driving especially as I've done a lot of driving jobs over the years. Aren't the roads crazy nowadays,it's frightening. Kadinsky and Bluebell,I do understand how life can turn from feeling busy to nothing, full on to nothing. I go to the cinema on a week day afternoon,or get a cuppa at a garden centre after a walk around, love to smell and tough the plants. My Dad always said to us "don't be idling your time away" so I'm thinking what will keep me busy tomorrow .

What a lovely thread. Made me think about all the positive things! A games night with friends in Feb. A weekend in the Lakes in April - present from my son. Two European holidays - one a special one island hopping in Greece. And the best of all - a new Grandson in June. DH not been well and had a health scare so it’s so good to look to the future!

Wonderful thread.
First gc due. And a feeling more will arrive in the next couple of years too. Sadly one of my dogs is getting very frail and watching what is going to become inevitable is hard. But generally feeling very happy and positive.

Although I have the Orient Express and Greece lined up this year, a small particular pleasure for me is hopping on a coach round the corner for long day trips. I take sandwiches and a flask of coffee and visit lots of British places to tick off my list.
All for £17 and no driving.
Good books to read and meals out.

I started a Gratitude Diary last year and every day write three things I am grateful for or have enjoyed, even if fed up.

Lucca, I send a ((hug)) 💐

A couple of breaks now booked and a big birthday for DH. DS just invited us for lunch next month. It is the small things now but a big sun will help.

JaneJudge Sun 29-Jan-23 17:43:51

I have a couple of shows booked and a holiday

Kim19 Sun 29-Jan-23 17:55:13

Lucca. 👍 I think of you and your state of play often. No other words.....

Jammeny Sun 29-Jan-23 18:04:40

I'm looking forward to the family gathering we have planned for next month for my DH 60th birthday. We also have a couple of theatre trips booked and are going to go abroad for our main holiday this year, first time abroad in 4 years.
Also very much looking forward to the spring and the return of lighter evenings.

MawtheMerrier Sun 29-Jan-23 18:16:03

You have to look forwards don't you?
I am looking forward to hitting 75 (if I'm spared!) hopefully with all my family. To seeing D3 SIL and the little boys settling into the house they bought last week, to celebrating her older boy's 4th birthday - also in March, to longer days and more moderate temperatures, to my bulbs coming up in the garden, to new life all around me and to enjoying meeting and talking to my friends in RL and here on GN smile

FannyCornforth Sun 29-Jan-23 18:33:14

Ah, bless you Maw. smile

Lucca I’m with you on boring. thanks
If you’d told me last year that MrC would would be with me, I would have been very sceptical.
Enjoy the little things is my motto.

I hope that your son spoils you rotten Lucca!

So do I, I have been guilty of being pessimistic but I have nothing really to complain about.
I hope you have a lovely few days with your son.

going skiing with DD and grandchildren in 2 weeks- the GCs will come this Summer to spend time with us- and we are all going to Tuscany for May half term to celebrate DD1's 50th.

A mountain train trip this Summer with big brother, and a trip to North Portugal early October. But honestly, small things are the best, the arrival or early wild flowers, red starts and swallows, bird song, longer days ... small, everyday things ... sitting on the garden swing with OH and the cat, and feel the sun on my face. Priceless.

Marydoll Sun 29-Jan-23 20:47:53

I'm forward to perhaps getting out this week after three weeks of being to unwell too do anything. ✌

I will settle for a trip to Sainsbury's! wink

Lucca Sun 29-Jan-23 21:50:58

Marydoll, i get you !

Today I escaped with help and had a wonderful catch up brunch with ex colleague and ex student ( great friends and hugely intelligent and funny !)

Marydoll Sun 29-Jan-23 22:25:17

Lucca 💚 I'm glad you had a lovely day.
It's the small things, isn't it?

My next hurdle is to shake off DH and go out on my own. He means well, but cramps my style. 😉

BigBertha1 Sun 29-Jan-23 22:26:27

I'm 70 next month so I'm feeling pretty fed up about that. We are going to Crete in May so that will be nice. Thinking about moving house but don't want to leave my daughter DH hates it here and I'm not keen. Don't know what to do. Lovely to see facts coming up everywhere. Bought some winter pansies to put up n pots by the front door tomorrow.

NotTooOld Sun 29-Jan-23 22:28:17

Nice thread this.

I'm guilty of feeling fed up and miserable the last few weeks, with nothing really to feel fed up and miserable about. Perhaps it's the gloomy weather. I think I'll have to start a Gratitude Diary, which I've never heard of before but sounds like a good idea. I am very lucky to have a lovely DH as well as children and granchildren and good friends, all of whom I very much appreciate.

Like others I am looking forward to the spring and the sunny days to come. We have a weeks holiday booked for May and vague plans to downsize this year. We had similar plans last year which did not materialise but maybe this year.........

So sorry to hear some of you are not in the best of health and I wish you all the best.

Hetty58 Sun 29-Jan-23 22:35:54

As ever, at this time of year, really looking forward to Spring - when my energy and enthusiasm returns, longer walks, doing loads of DIY and gardening. I've no big plans - apart from moving home, that is!

HeavenLeigh Sun 29-Jan-23 22:36:00

Lucca for you 💐I’m pleased you had a lovely day today! Sending you a virtual hug!

Romola Sun 29-Jan-23 23:05:34

I'm looking forward to befriending another child with the lovely local charity for which I volunteer. I had to cut short the time with my previous focus child while my DH was dying. But I think I shall be able once again to be a positive and cheerful presence for another child. Having fun with a kid, what's not to like?
And a dear friend has agreed to come with me on a holiday during the first anniversary of DH's death.
Also to anticipate with pleasure are normal things like kitchen suppers with friends and neighbours, and of course seeing family.
Thanks for this thread, everyone.

BlueSapphire Sun 29-Jan-23 23:18:43

Looking forward to a holiday in warmer climes in March, a part of the world I've never been to before.
And a cruise in July to northern parts. Making up for all the time I spent confined alone at home during Covid.
Excited to have new adventures and thankful that I still have the health and inclination to travel, albeit now on my own.
Looking forward to spring walks with friends, a glass of wine in a sunny pub garden, sunshine on my face.
Most important, more time spent with family.

IrishDancing Sun 29-Jan-23 23:22:09

Looking forward to seeing DS, DDiL and DGS next weekend. Few days away with DBiL, a week by the sea just reading my books and knitting (if my tennis elbow has cleared up!). Just living the life I have now really.
flowers Lucca

crazyH Sun 29-Jan-23 23:35:42

Looking forward to seeing the stage version of the ‘Marigold Hotel’, in March.

BrightandBreezy Mon 30-Jan-23 04:01:14

💐 Lucca. Hope you enjoy your time with your DS.

We have our DGS's 18th birthday to celebrate this month. Can't believe where the years have gone. Surely it was only yesterday he started. School. 🤔
In March I will invite dh's as isters out for a meal to celebrate his 71st birthday. It will be a. surprize for him. We had to cancel seeing them on his 70th birthday as we both had Covid.
We always gather with DD and family and my dm for a meal out for mother's Day.
I am going to the theatre to see Sister Act with DD and dgd in June.
In July we are off to Tenerife with DD her DH DS and DGD for 11 days. It is particularly special as I have a feeling it will probably be the last time we are all together for a fairly long holiday now that dgs will be 18.

We do have 2 couples who have been our dear friends for more than 30 years and we usually arrange a meal out with them about once a month.
Would like an inexpensive break somewhere warm about April just for the two of us but have nothing planned.
Looking forward to warmer weather here to enjoy coastal walks with our d dog.
I know we have a lot to be thankful for and realize, at our age, things can change from relatively healthy to very poor almost overnight. DH has disc and hip problems which have recently made our walks a lot shorter but he is always better in the weather weather.
Thank you for this thread which has really made me aware and appreciate the life we have at the moment.
