In view an the excellent thread about us often looking backwards, let's have a thread about looking forwards then.
So, have you anything planned for the next few months?
Would you like to achieve something? Go somewhere?
Learn something new? Meet someone new?
Anything, as long as it involves looking forwards.
I would certainly like to travel somewhere new and hope I achieve that at least.

Please don’t feel unsettled about starting this thread henetha. It’s a lovely idea.
Yes, I would imagine for the vast majority of us there have been times when things have been hard, with seemingly little to look forward to, and it’s very true that there are many who feel that right now, and that shouldn’t be ignored or dis-regarded; but I think that it’s also true to say that every single one us appreciates reading and hearing about positive things happening in peoples lives, and that reading/hearing these things can give us all a little lift and perhaps even some hope in what can sometimes seem a very dark world. So henetha thank you for starting this thread. 😊

I'm looking forward to year where I no longer have to have any correspondence/contact with my ex husband and to meeting a decent man with a zest for life to grow old disgracefully with. Also more holidays in the sun 🌞

I am looking forward to seeing the Peaky Blinders musical with Ballet Rambert involved in the production. Also a holiday in Padstow (love Cornwall) followed by another family holiday. Trying very hard to get tickets for a heavily subscribed Fisherman's Friends concert and won't give up just yet.

I really appreciate this thread Henetha. .it is both sobering and interesting to read about people's different circumstances.. I have become, after a dark winter, more proactive in contacting people and made a few arrangements to meet up with them. and inspired by all the amazing trips and activities that you are all planning.. and yesterday I booked 2 three day landscape painting courses.

I have been feeling down in the dumps, I think it’s the weather, not being able to get out so much. I have just bought a daylight therapy lamp to see if that helps

FannyCornforth Mon 30-Jan-23 15:21:04

I’m really looking forward to seeing my dad on Sunday! 🥰

Ziplok Mon 30-Jan-23 15:21:38

They are supposed to be quite helpful, Lindaa4. So, fingers crossed it helps you.
You’re right about the grey, cold, damp weather - it certainly affects my mood.

Going to visit my family in Australia very soon. Coming back to find that Spring has arrived and my garden is full of flowers (I hope) Getting back to singing with my choir and trying to catch up with what they've learned in my absence.

GreenGran78 Mon 30-Jan-23 15:32:57

NB. Also looking forward, I hope, to the Gransnet page loading properly. For weeks it has been disappearing, reloading, disappearing again, telling me that there is a problem with the page......it's driving me mad. Is it just my problem, or is anyone else suffering too?

We are going to Karneval in Germany. We’ve done this for the past 30 years with Town Twinning - it’s tremendous fun, colourful and upbeat and just what you need during the cold grey Winter days. A chance to go crazy and let off steam! Despite the dreaded B….t, we always get a wonderful warm welcome and I wouldn’t miss it for anything. Have a look on Google.

So lovely to read about all the things everyone is planning. But so sad that there are people who feel life has nothing left to offer or who cannot afford to so all the things others are doing. flowers to you all.

Yesterday we did the Big Garden Birdwatch, as we always do. I'd forgotten all about it until MrA got the forms out. Sat in the warm doing nothing but watching birds for an hour with a mug of coffee and a cake and a pair of binoculars. Have to say it's a mystery to me why we see less birds on the day of the Birdwatch than we see most days of the year nut never mind, it was a blissful hour .

Lovely thread, henetha, looking forward to Spring flowers, Summer blossoms, Autumn fruit and red Winter berries.
flowers flowers flowers flowers

Another thing that is great about your thread Henetha, is how many new and rarely seen names there are here.
You must have the magic touch! 😺

I’m so looking forward to Spring! Flowers, trees, birds singing. There are signs already and it cheers my soul and lightens my step.

I'm looking forward to getting out in the garden. I have plans to move some plants and extend it further so that the lad in the next door flat can see the flowers too. He's very ill and hardly ever goes out. They'll be nicer to look at than the old fence.

We also have 3 short breaks booked for March, May and September and we're hoping to get some camping in this summer. We also have some days out planned to stately homes, YWT and RSPB sites.

We start with Burton Agnes snowdrops in February so not long to wait now.

Bankhurst Mon 30-Jan-23 16:13:29

Not looking forward to very much, I’m afraid. My husband died unexpectedly in November, and all our plans just disappeared. His 80th birthday celebrations, holidays, theatre visits, days out. I hope that my interest in them will return one day but for now I don’t want to go alone and going with someone else feels worse.
Best wishes to all those of you who have happier prospects.

Rosina Mon 30-Jan-23 16:24:30

Spring! And getting some work done in my gardens, back and front. I have all sorts of plans, and live in hope for some days out with the AC and DGC.
Lucca I send you my warmest wishes for a happy few days with your son - may they be peaceful and rewarding. xx

Rosina Mon 30-Jan-23 16:27:24

Bankhurst best wishes to you too - I was typing my post while your sad one was landing on GN. I am sorry to hear of your sudden and shocking loss. xx

Minerva Mon 30-Jan-23 16:28:43

I couldn’t think of anything then the Bee Gees ‘Stayin’ Alive’ jumped into my head and now I can’t get rid of it. Staying alive for Spring.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 30-Jan-23 16:35:33

I’m so sorry, Bankhurst. What a cruel blow. I hope your interest will return before too long, helped perhaps by brighter and warmer days and the flowers coming back again. 💐

MaggsMcG Mon 30-Jan-23 16:49:20

I'm starting a pilates class. I did a few classes many years ago but can't even remember why I stopped going. Probably something to do with it clashing with another hobby. This time its in the morning so wont clash with anything else. Also I'm going to look at booking another cruise having done my first last November and enjoyed it.

MaggsMcG Mon 30-Jan-23 16:51:51

Bankhurst my sympathies for your loss. My husband died 2 years ago on Wednesday. Take your bereavement a day at a time. I find there are days when it hits a lot harder than you are expecting even after two years. I hope you have support from friends and family. sad

nadateturbe Mon 30-Jan-23 17:00:49

Like Kate1949 I have found this thread has really encouraged me to be optimistic, which is difficult sometimes. So thank you Henetha.

It must be exciting for those looking forward to travel. I hope it is all you wish for.

My own big ambition is to get to England from NI. I can't do very much nowadays but I am mostly content and thankful for all I have done in the past, and the many lovely holidays and memories I have.

I know many are sad and not looking forward to what this year will bring, and many are missing loved ones. And I send loving hugs to you, and wish you peace. 💐

MooM00 Mon 30-Jan-23 17:05:00

Bankhurst, I know how you feel my husband died in November. It would have been his 70th Birthday in February. Family still want to celebrate but I don’t think I can.

Twopence Mon 30-Jan-23 17:10:07

Enjoying this post. It's good to hear what everyone is looking forward to. Sorry if my previous post was rather negative.
