Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and dry outside at the moment in brackley this morning.
I have already sorted my day out, I will go to Bicester later than I usually do, as I want to see the new Steven Spielberg film the Fabelmans which is supposed to be a bio pic abut someone like him starting making films .
Take Care,
Mick

grandMattie Tue 31-Jan-23 06:00:12

Good morning from a dark, chilly e Kent.
It would appear that I have a firm offer on the house, I’m instructing the local solicitor this morning! Just like that!
At the meeting with my estate agent, we agreed on the lowest price I would accept, as the recent minor subsidence is a big sticking point. The viewers who offered the unreasonably low offer upped it - one excuse was that interest rates were going upon Thursday, that too one who paid 13% on our mortgage!!!
Anyway, they made a reasonable offer and accepted my condition of completing in about 12 weeks.
Now I need to find somewhere to live.
Speaking to DS in India after breakfast to give him the extra stuff- I did let him know, of course.
Out tai chi leader can’t make it again today, so I’m taking the class again. I wonder what mischief I can get up to this time? 😂
I hope sunshine’s on you today. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Morning Mick, morning All. Can’t give a weather report on our corner of Somerset as the curtains remain closed. Forecast is a windy, wet start. Hope not.

Enjoyed meeting a friend yesterday, it was too long since the last putting the world to right session. Out for a couple of hours with Mr C in the afternoon during which time two missed calls appeared from a hospital number. No message. I’ll try to investigate this morning before we set off for Mr C’s repeat eye test. Soup to make for lunch then admin for me in preparation for two meetings. Mr C is weary so I’ll suggest he just takes it easy.

Wow, grandmattie. That was quick. Same thing happened when we moved here. I hope you can locate a new home where you’ll be happy and comfortable. Enjoy the film mick.

Take care everyone. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

Ashcombe Tue 31-Jan-23 06:32:07

Good morning from a cloudy Sarthe but feeling less cold due to the wind now being from the SW rather than the NE.

I hope you enjoy the film, Mick.

It’s good news that you’ve reached a compromise over your house sale, grandMattie. Such a relief and I hope you soon find a flat to your liking. I think I recall rates of interest once being 15% in 1973, perhaps?

Yesterday, we shopped in Bonnétable, our nearest largish town, for bird food (they’re eating vociferously currently!) and for groceries in Super U. In the agricultural supplies shop which sells the bird food, DH spoke in French (I managed the pleasantries) and as we left, the charming young man quipped, “Have a nice day!” in English! We hadn’t spoken to each other in English so our accents must be very identifiable! It gave us all a giggle.

A quiet day at home beckons. Enjoy whatever you’re planning! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning everyone, a dry start here on the hill in Wiltshire.
Yesterday’s GP appointment was okay-ish, awaiting hospital appointments for investigations to establish what next heart-wise.
Today is crafts, DDog has her lovely walker and this afternoon I will crack on with my great niece’s hooded jacket, two sleeves and a hood to do.
I will also do a bit of pottering out in the garden, it badly needs some talc.
Enjoy today x

BlueBalou Tue 31-Jan-23 06:46:00

Tlc not talc!

Grandmabatty Tue 31-Jan-23 06:49:27

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7°, wet and windy. Still dark. Mick enjoy the film. Grandmattie that was quick indeed. Fingers crossed that you find somewhere else to live as quickly. Ash I remember paying an interest rate of 17% at one point.
Yesterday was a very grumpy day for me. Dgs2 was grumpy too. He has a cold and was out of sorts. I dropped my car key card and it promptly vanished, falling through a fence and sliding under the summer house where I couldn't get at it. I then had a panicky hour before I found the other key card. When I picked up dgs1, his key teacher told me of his misdeeds of which there were many and variable. He had a bad day too! He was exceptionally sooky (for the Scottish grans) as he doesn't like being in trouble. Then dgs2 would not nap in his cot and eventually fell asleep in my arms. I think he wanted to escape my singing songs to him, personally. So a difficult day which ended fine. The first thing dgs1 did, was to tell his mummy and daddy about his not-so-good sitting and listening behaviour and he promised to try better today.
So today is a rerun of yesterday, hopefully without the grumps. I will remind dgs1 going into nursery to use his listening ears. Have a good day all.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Enjoy the film,*Mick*. It’s still dark here in South Yorkshire but I have been awake for hours☹️. Head full of rubbish! I have some paperwork to sort out today, a tidy up, and a casserole to portion up for the freezer but will find time for a rest later otherwise I shall be on my knees.
Have the best day you can folks.

kittylester Tue 31-Jan-23 07:12:11

Good morning all from a still dark North Leicestershire. The temperature is 7° but feels chillier.

Today, I have a choice of things to do. It is our regular Sing it Happy choir session but there is also a volunteer day. I'd rather go to choir but ought to go to the volunteer meeting.

Our potential new cleaner seemed OK and, in fact, started school in our house.

Have the best day possible everyone.

dragonfly46 Tue 31-Jan-23 07:13:27

Good morning from dark Leicestershire.

The cleaning fairies are coming first thing and I am walking with the neighbours. After that coffee with friends and this afternoon another walk with friends. NWR this evening if I am not worn out by then.

I too remember high interest rates but we did get tax relief on the interest which helped.
I hope you find somewhere soon Grandmattie I have always had a fear of being homeless!

Wishing everyone a good day.

Grandmadinosaur Tue 31-Jan-23 07:19:31

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. It’s still dark but a mild 8 degrees.

We’re almost there with operation clean up. A few boxes to sort through and throw away stuff no longer required. DH hasn’t started in his office but will make a do that whilst I am out at coffee morning. I heard from one of our ladies she can’t make it today after a recall. Cu

Whitewavemark2 Tue 31-Jan-23 07:21:38

Good Morning from the South Downs.

I’m another one who has been awake for hours. Goodness knows why. It must be the excitement of a ceilingless spare bedroom.

Now hoping to have it replaced early next week (to be arranged when chap comes back from holiday)
Then with luck and a good wind we will get all our chattels back🤞🤞.

Yesterday I managed to prune one rose bush - only 14 to go. But actually might weed, hoe and mulch a bed today and cut back the clematis x 3 and rose climbers x3 as well as cut down the perennials, which I am hoping have survived the frost - some - like agastache are a bit tender. The scent of the winter honeysuckle and accompanying bees will cheer me.

Hope all the younger grans who have small grandchildren enjoy their day - that time goes so quickly.

Crafty grans have a productive day.

Poorly grans feel much better.

And we all enjoy our day whatever we do.

Grandmadinosaur Tue 31-Jan-23 07:24:31

Part 2 Sorry pressed post in error.

Friend has a recall from her bowel screening. I was amazed it’s a telephone consultation but we are praying for her.

GS here after school and we are doing birthday cake here later as it is DILs birthday.

Good news on the house offer GM

We saw the trailer for the film Mick last week when we were at the cinema. Will be interested to see if you recommend it.

Susan56 Tue 31-Jan-23 07:28:53

Good morning from Shropshire.

Thank you for all your message on the death of my lovely friend.

Today I have the podiatrist this morning and physio this afternoon.

I’m glad you have a buyer grandMattie and a compromise was agreed.I hope you can find a suitable flat in Bristol now.

Grandmabatty, H had a bad day at nursery a couple of weeks ago.I asked him if he got told off.He said no, I pretended to be a statue and statues can’t talk 🙈DD was worried it was the start of him misbehaving at nursery but it was just a one off🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

BlueBalou I hope you don’t have to wait too long for your appointments.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

GrannyGravy13 Tue 31-Jan-23 07:32:07

Morning Mick and all

We are meant to have a windy day here, no sign of it yet and no seagulls on the field which is always a sign of wind and choppy weather.

Bed changing today and another cupboard to sort out, along with pre-school pick up of The Imp and school pick up of the 7yr old.

Good news on your house sale grandMattie

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Pittcity Tue 31-Jan-23 07:40:30

Good morning from a dry, brightening Colchester where temperatures might get into double figures briefly this afternoon.
Tuesday is charity shop volunteering day. Hope it's a bit busier than last week.
All the best with your sale and purchase GM. I see you've joined the house buying thread. I still read it even though we moved 2 years ago as both our DDs are renovating and there are some useful tips.
Love to all 🦩 x

Beechnut Tue 31-Jan-23 07:50:37

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. There is some blue sky so that looks promising.

I’ve decided not to go swimming and get my washing down as I have extra with having two lots of visitors over the weekend.

Mortgage rates going up are no excuse for putting in a low offer Mattie. As you say us older ones have worn a much bigger T-shirt on that one! I hope it all goes smoothly.

Have a good day all 🌼🦩

baubles Tue 31-Jan-23 07:52:34

Good morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

Good news about your offer Mattie.

I’m annoyed with myself as I’ve managed to hurt my back. It seems no matter how careful I try to be at work it can still catch me out. I had a dreadfully uncomfortable night but will have to dose up on painkillers and get on with it today as I’m covering for the manager who is attending a regional meeting so there really is no one else.

This evening a couple of friends are coming round for a coffee and a catch up.

Have the best possible day everyone.

NannyJan53 Tue 31-Jan-23 07:53:07

Good morning from a much brighter Black Country.

Meeting a friend this morning for coffee and chat. Then gym this afternoon.

Good news grandMattie hope it all goes through effortlessly. I remember in the 80's of interest rates being 15%. I was a single parent then and it was very worrying. Somehow I got through it.

Wishing you all the best day possible

Grammaretto Tue 31-Jan-23 08:03:54

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
It's blowing a hoolie here.
I get advance notices from the tree surgeon to see if I need their help.

Well done gMattie on the house sale.
Now the fun begins 😀
Ask on the house moving thread for advice. They know all the possible pitfalls.
Good luck with finding the perfect place for you near DD. You certainly know how to Carpe Diem

My DMiL and DBiL have been homeless since the weekend when masonry began to fall from the parapet of their tall Georgian house onto the first floor balcony. They live in the basement servants quarters but the entire building has been evacuated and it's still not known when they can go back in to retrieve essentials. They stayed one night here but are now in her old house which is about to be sold but still has some furniture and importantly a stairlift. I am on stand by as chauffeur.
They were offered an hotel but refused due to her great age - she's almost 98.
I have yoga today and "office" work.
I could do with a bit less excitement!

Hope all in here have easy days.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 31-Jan-23 08:07:01

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I will be mainly shopping in Waitrose and also taking more stuff to a Charity shop. I may pop into a computer shop too as I need a spare charger for my iPhone . Maybe a bit of knitting and certainly WI admin. We have our committee meeting tomorrow. Just one of our members doesn’t have a computer so I have to print everything off for her. In fact she’s the only lady in our whole WI who doesn’t have a computer. Everything has to be printed off. Another lady held out for ages until her sons persuaded her otherwise. OH is out this evening so I will catch up with the Grayson Perry programme which I recorded last week. I may even fit in some baking. I usually have quite a stash of cakes in the freezer but I’m down to just one big cake and two or three fairy cakes. Have a good day.

Alygran Tue 31-Jan-23 08:11:10

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Clear blue skies and very windy today.
This morning I will go for a walk, do some admin and put beef and veg in the slow cooker. Book club this afternoon where we are discussing poetry. Not my thing but interested to hear others views.
Good news on the house GM.
Enjoy the film Mick, I saw the trailer last week.
Have a good day everyone.

Gingster Tue 31-Jan-23 08:14:10

Good morning all and it’s looking fairly bright out there.

Last night I was out for a meal with ‘my lovely girl’. A good catchup as we hadn’t met since last October.

Today Dd will pop in for coffee after school drop off and I have Bridge club this afternoon.

Yesterday I had my ‘Chimes’ group which was a bit frustrating. We have a newish lady who has no musicality or rhythm in her body so we have to keep stopping and starting again.😤. We are a U3A group which is all inclusive, no matter how good or bad you are, so we just smile and carry on. Our tolerance levels are excellent. 😂. We always have a laugh though! 😬.

I hope today is better for you Grandmabatty with your little ones. 🤞. It can be exhausting can’t it! 🥱. Little GD came out of school last week crying ‘I’ve done something terrible’. Mum spoke to teacher and it was something and nothing. She’s such a good girl, she’d taken it to heart. ❤️

Enjoy the film Mick.

Happy house/flat hunting GM.

Wishing you all a pleasant day,

Marydoll Tue 31-Jan-23 08:15:30

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it's 6°C.

Delighted to hear your good news GM, looking forward to hearing about your search for a new home.
I hope you enjoy your film, Mick.
GB, I hope you get your car key back.

Yesterday was quite tiring and a bit stressful. I decided to chase up my cardiology appointment, because I am struggling badly, but was passed from hospital to hospital, before I could find someone to help me.
Apparently, the cardiology professor has more than one secretary and as I am a conundrum, the clinicians had been discussing which clinic would be best for me.
What I was told was that due to recent blood tests, I had definitely been referred to the heart failure clinic. 😱 I had absolutely no knowledge of this referral. I knew my heart was struggling, but not like this.

I came off the phone and upset DH, by bursting into tears.
I'm usually very resilient. However, reading of another poster's heart prognosis yesterday, didn't help either.
I had two choices, wallow or keep busy. The latter was chosen.

I made a necklace from orange quartz, which I had intended to make for DDs wedding, postponed by Lockdown, but couldn't face it. Also I intended to make it for DS2s wedding, that didn't happen either.
Then I went looking for a plaster to fix the holes in the kitchen ceiling. I found one, recommended by DD, he came down last night and will do it this week, due to a postponed larger job.
It turns out he is a former pupil of my SIL and went to high school with some of my former pupils. It's a close knit community here!

The scam email of Sunday was bothering me. Firstly, I phoned the Dioscesan Offices and was told not to worry, it happens frequently. The person I spoke with was obviously not IT savvy, so I contacted the company, who have the contract for IT.
The person I spoke to, understood exactly, where I was coming from.
In my former life, I was an education IT masterclasser, involved in all sorts of security issues. My antennae still twitch, now and again.
Later I received an email, thanking me for being so vigilant and steps were being taken.

I was exhausted after everything, so decamped to the conservatory to indulge in some Turkish drama. Unfortunately, the wife of the hero was shot dead by the mafia, not the ending I wanted. They had just got married hours before! 😭

DH is painting our kitchen size utility room today. Watch this space, chaos will reign.

Have a good day folks, I will go back and read your posts.

SunshineSally Tue 31-Jan-23 08:16:58

Good morning Mick and all from a bright south Hants. That’s great news that you’ve accepted an offer on your house and that they upped their original offer grandMattie - I hope you find somewhere suitable and that it all goes through smoothly. Always a stressful time.
DH has been poorly for the last few days - Covid test was negative but he’s still not right in himself and it’s been nearly a week now. Think I’ll try and persuade him to make a GP appointment for some blood tests and a urine test. Last night he told me his wee is orange - and he’s been drinking plenty of fluids.
Shopping today as I need to buy some ingredients for a banoffee pie. Plus I want to have a go at making a pavlova - never made one … but suddenly I have an urge!😂
Have the best day you can. Thoughts to those that are poorly in health or spirit 🦩🦩
🤗 and 🌻 for you all x
