One country you haven’t visited but would love to - and vice versa

We visited Iceland in the 80s. The highlight of the tour was a garden centre. They’ve got their tourist act together since then.

My son has gone to Iceland at least half a dozen times. His original degree was geology and off he goes tramping around the rocks😄😄. His wife is very long suffering.

Our neighbours used to go to Iceland every year but not since they had the children.

I would love to visit China, and New Zealand. Unfortunately I have no interest in long distance flying, so it's unlikely.

Yes, just before Christmas they had a few days break there in a totally isolated lodge with its own pool. Spent time looking at the northern lights.

Canada, would love to visit Montreal. I've been looking it up on t, Internet for years now. Should just go and book it!.

For those of you longing to visit Canada, wait until spring/summer. It’s -13 today in Southern Ontario and Montreal is a very chilly -24 just now🥶❄️

South Africa, to see where my father was born and spent his early years. This may yet happen as we’ve been told to expect a wedding invitation there from one of our DC’s friends.

I’ve been to the airport in Iceland. Flying over, it just looked grey and full of pebbles. I don’t fancy going there for a holiday.

We went to Australia just before the pandemic hit. My sister had died earlier that year, within three months of a diagnosis of a brain tumour, and I said to Dh, what are we waiting for? so we went for three weeks. It was amazing, though hiring a camper van was a mistake - I’m too soft for camping! I was underwhelmed by Sydney, but I’ve been. Not interested much in NZ.

I’d love to go to Fiji and other Pacific islands and Antarctica.

Japan at cherry blossom time. Can’t think of a country I would really hate to go to, though perhaps India or Bangladesh as someone up thread said, I would be upset by the poverty.

There would be a lot more than one! if the world were a different place I'd have loved to have visited great swathes of the Middle East/North Africa, I have only done Israel but all the following appear very interesting to me, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Libya even, although my dad was there in the war and told me his enduring memory of it was sand! sand! sand! Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Iran.

I have luckily done parts of Canada, a lot of the US both East and West coasts, Mexico those are all places I'd go back to. I've been drawn to South America ever since my class did it in first year at senior school, I always wanted to go there, I have been to Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil but would go back and do the whole continent in a heartbeat, if I were younger.

Apart from visiting Denmark, I'd like to do the rest of Scandinavia but oh soooo expensive

New Zealand and the rest of Australia, I've only been to Western Australia, Perth in particular.

In the Far East I'd like to go to Japan, I've been to Singapore and Malaysia but Asia per se would be fairly low on my list behind other places and I have no desire to ever go to either China or Russia, for various reasons they don't appeal to me.

My problem now is, I positively hate flying in spite of having done my fair share and the whole palaver surrounding airport travel gives more anxiety now than it used to. I'd never say never, but I think my days of very big holidays are behind me.

Oh yes, I’ve been to India. Not on a tourist package, my ds was working there for six months and I lived in a monastery for a week! It was an amazing and an appalling holiday, and as soon as I got home, I wanted to go back again. 😂

China, but not sure at the moment.

Have lived in Singapore and Australia, but not yet done New Zealand.

Our dream was always Canada and the train through the Rockies, and we did that the year before DH died.

Oh Blue, SA was my target! To be "under African skies" and the complex post apartheid culture, and the wonderful choirs that are now a "thing"...don't think I'll make it bit one can dream.

(slightly complicated sad story - I have recently divorced an abusive husband, a nightmare last year, but he has a brother in SA and in better times that was The Plan)

(NB -he is now estranged from bro, and bro and family were abused too, and bro wants the past to be the past tho he has nothing against me, wants non com all round)

I’m lucky because I’ve travelled widely, but one place I’ve always wanted to visit, and haven’t done, is Israel.

We went to Iceland in midsummer - it was a blaze of colour - lupins, buttercups and dandelions, and nesting birds everywhere. wild orchids, and baby eiderducks on the fjords - a nature lovers paradise,

Ecuador and Chile are high on my list. Hoping to go as part of a South and Central America trip starting later this year.

No desire to go to Israel.

New Zealand. I have friends there and it really does sound and look like a paradise on earth. Sadly, with my flying phobia, I'll never get there.

Tahiti for the marine life and much more.

Spent a super three weeks in Saint Lucia. Loved the helicopter flight over the Pitons and lots of other interesting things to do.
Quite like cruising,feel safe on board , good entertainment,excursions if you want and food whenever you want(suits me) !!
Found the Algarve a bit boring.Wish I'd gone to historical parts instead.

Yes, Florence is fabulous, particularly if you’re interested in art. The food was gorgeous, too. I stayed in a convent (a friend knew one of the nuns!) and they were the best cooks in the world. I think they were more interested in food than in God, actually 😀
