Good morning from a dry, clear E Kent. (*holly*, 7 is late for me because I’m usually awake and drinking my morning cuppa by 5!)
Quiet day again yesterday, due to eyes. They are slowly improving, but the ointment makes my sight very blurry and, TBH, I’m feeling somewhat under the weather.
Another quiet day today, waiting for my sight to improve further. Probably more clearing.
May everyone have a quiet day. Carpe diem/horam 🦩🦩🦩🦩

ShazzaKanazza Fri 10-Feb-23 06:21:54

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. I think we have another dry day forecast.

grandMattie pleased your eye is improving but sorry you are feeling under the weather today. 💐

We need to be at DDs by 7-30 to be with GDs for the day we will bring them back to ours. Daughter has a training day at work in preparation for returning to work next month after maternity leave. We are going to take the day as it comes for GD1 as she is covered in chicken pox and has hardly slept she won’t let her mum put anything on her skin. If she’s up to it we will go to the park and play or she can just relax under a blanket and watch tv all day. Baby B will go with the flow.

Hope today is a good one and for those suffering illness and stress hope you get some respite today🌻🌻

cornergran Fri 10-Feb-23 06:25:13

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset feels cold. No idea what it’s doing outside, the forecast is for cloud.

Admin complete yesterday morning we ventured forth in the afternoon for some air. Flooring quotation arrive by email. Not as scary as I had anticipated. Much to my surprise Mr C’s requested liver and onions meal topped with crispy bacon was very tasty. Hadn’t cooked it for years.

This morning we’re checking the flooring quotation again and dealing with the storage of our LPA’s. I’m sausage roll baking before fish and chips for lunch. No idea after that. Wait and see time.

Enjoy your bus trip mick. Not surprised you feel under the weather grandmattie, go gently. Thinking of you and everyone with health worries. Hope Friday is kind to us all.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 10-Feb-23 06:26:38

Good morning from the South Downs.

gm you do sound a bit down I must admit, but with rest and a fair wind and as your eyes improve you will hopefully get your mojo back.

The ceiling is finally plastered, so today I’m going in there and wash everything down to clear all the dust and grime. I’m also going to clean the carpet over the weekend before the furniture comes back. Still the decorators to come, but they can put down dust sheets and won’t make much mess.

Yesterday I did very little, motivation is my problem, but now we are getting the house back I think my enthusiasm will return.

Enjoy your day one and all.

Susan56 Fri 10-Feb-23 06:59:42

Good morning from Shropshire.

We are off over the border into North Wales shortly to DD’s for a day of childcare. We will stay at their house for the day.No plans but usually a bit of housework and ironing then a walk.

Shazza I would recommend virasoothe for your DGD.You can get it in a spray which may be better. Our pharmacy ordered some in for us but I’m sure you will be able to get it online.

Hope all unwell improve as the day goes on.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Ashcombe Fri 10-Feb-23 07:01:00

Good morning from a slightly less cold corner of La Sarthe.

It does does sound as if you’re run down, grandMattie, so be kind to yourself. It’s been a long, stressful winter for you.

Last night my DD2 sent me a photo of an exchange of letters twixt my DGD (10) and her teacher! Following her request to swap seats with her neighbour, he’d requested she put it in writing which she did. In reply he wrote a formal but amusing reply which I’ll try to upload (with names removed to protect the not so innocent!!)

We’re planning to visit Lidl today to stock up for our return to the UK on Sunday.

Have as good a day as possible, everyone! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Susan56 Fri 10-Feb-23 07:07:07

Ash that is brilliant. What a lovely teacher!

Grandmadinosaur Fri 10-Feb-23 07:17:47

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. It’s 3 degrees and cloudy as it’s getting light.
Today I have workmen coming to do the plastering required after the rewiring. We thought it was being done at the time but no. They will be here at 9 so at least I can get breakfast etc in peace. Then after lunch I have a dental appt - just the hygienist.

I was sorry to hear your eldest GD has chickenpox Shazza poor little one. Hope she isn’t suffering too much.

I’m not surprised you’re feeling rundown GM you’ve had an awful lot going on in the last year or so. 💐

Thank you for your comments on DIL yesterday. I messaged her and she was ok.

Have a good day everyone.

Ashcombe Fri 10-Feb-23 07:19:49

Yes, indeed, Susan56! He has the measure of DGD and she is enjoying school enormously this year which is very pleasing.

karmalady Fri 10-Feb-23 07:23:15

Good morning, -3 here and just a few short hours of a bright day ahead before the gloomy skies set in

GM, you are ground down and need to get some real rest for a bit, put a bubble around yourself

I am off for a walk around town later, I say town but it is very small. I like to go down the old parts and always come back after being bathed in that feeling of the passage of time, peasantry, bustling market place, sheep. Those old houses and trees could tell a story

All the best to everyone

baubles Fri 10-Feb-23 07:28:10

Good morning all from cloudy South Lanarkshire.

Sorry to hear your eye is still bothering you gM but glad it’s improving albeit slowly.

Good of the teacher to take the time to answer your DGD’s request in such an amusing fashion Ash..

My back was slightly better yesterday so I’m hoping it’s on the mend and the improvement is not just because I wasn’t working. DH did all the lifting of children yesterday.

DD’s youngest is four years old today so I’ve arranged to shut up shop a couple of hours early in order to get to DD’s by tea time. I’m not sure that the powers that be are best pleased but I’m working a lot of extra days just now so it’s a compromise.

Wishing everyone the best possible day.

BlueBalou Fri 10-Feb-23 07:29:28

Good morning everyone, it’s frosty here again! My hill in Wiltshire seems to have its own microclimate 😊
Yesterday was cleaning through, changing the bed, loads of washing 🙄
I also made a mince, leek and potato dish for today’s lunch and went to my stitch group, great fun!
I do hope your eyes improve quickly GM, that’s so miserable for you.
Today absolutely nothing planned so I will do more painting by numbers, sort out the ironing and generally pootle around 😄
Enjoy today everyone x

kittylester Fri 10-Feb-23 07:39:32

Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.

This morning I have beds to change ready for DD2 and co who are coming for the weekend. I also need to go to the butcher's and the egg farm.

This afternoon, the Fairy Mogmother is coming to groom one of the cats. We have 3 cats but only one needs a proper groom - she is short haired but her hair is really thick.

Sending best wishes to everyone for a happy day.

grandMattie Fri 10-Feb-23 07:40:40

What a charming and entertaining letter, Ash! Did your DGD take up the offer?
I wish my teachers had been as accommodating . Although loving learning at school, I was rather unhappy most of my school years.

Kalu Fri 10-Feb-23 07:42:04

Good morning from Glasgow. 5deg. and cloudy, just hoping this is a sign of no more severe frost.

I sourced a paint yesterday in my favourite colour, chartreuse, which covers most surfaces. I have a few ideas where I will use it once I have done some testing.
DD2 in OZ sent a video yesterday of a carpet snake slithering around her garden. I don’t mind mice and spiders and our resident fox but the thought of a snake, harmless or not anywhere near the house would give me sleepless nights!

Have a good Friday all.

brook2704 Fri 10-Feb-23 07:42:53

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s mild at about 8º but it still looks very breezy.
Hoping your eyes are better soon gMattie, take care
Just the usual Friday activities for me, a trip to the gym for a circuits class followed by a dip in the pool and a catch up and coffee with my pal. DGS was supposed to be coming for a sleepover tonight but is feeling under the weather with a bad cold and cough so that’s probably on hold for now.
Lovely kind teacher Ash
An early finish is very well deserved Baubles enjoy the birthday celebrations!
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

dragonfly46 Fri 10-Feb-23 07:43:28

Good morning from chilly Leicestershire. It was a glorious day yesterday with clear blue skies.

We were in town early and then went for coffee at an old haunt. Nothing had changed, the owners were the same and the prices. My DH said it was like getting back to normal ( pre-Covid).
Not much on today although may slip to M&S.
home made steak pie for dinner but need veg to go with it.

Hoping every one has a good day.

Pittcity Fri 10-Feb-23 07:44:07

Good morning from a frosty below freezing Colchester. The sun is up and we'll have another cold, dry day.
I have a routine blood test this morning. I popped into the GP surgery to check when I needed one and the receptionist shocked me by saying "tomorrow?" It's usually a wait of a week at least.
I then need a few bits in Aldi and have ironing to tackle.
Love to all 🦩 x

BlueSapphire Fri 10-Feb-23 07:48:24

Good morning everyone from a very frosty Northampton, below freezing out, and the sun is just about to rise.

Have just dosed up on co-codamol to cope with the back pain I've been getting for the last few days. I'm sure it goes back to when I tripped and fell about 3 weeks ago, as I do remember pulling something there at the time. It eases off during the day, and I was fine at my dance classes yesterday, no pain at all while dancing. But getting out of bed is difficult; everything seems to seize up overnight.

Out to the shops this morning, but first I need to deliver a sympathy card to a dear man and his young teenage daughters who have recently lost their wife and mother to cancer. They live about 5 minutes walk from me. The dear man in question is an ex-pupil of mine (now in his 50s), from when he was 7, back in the 1970s, an extremely talented musician who went to the Royal Academy of Music and has a wonderful career in music. He is a lovely man, and played the organ at my request at DH's funeral. It's all so so sad, his wife was so young. The family are no strangers to grief, as they lost one of their twin daughters at a very young age.

Hoping today is kind to us, happy Friday everyone.

Ashcombe Fri 10-Feb-23 07:52:11

DGD is due to give her teacher her reply today, I think! I’ll keep you posted if I hear anything. A teacher who can be bothered to engage with a pupil to this extent shows impressive commitment.

monk08 Fri 10-Feb-23 07:52:29

Good morning from the Black country it's a frosty start here but the sun is trying to make an appearance.
DS and the boys coming after school for dinner DiL working late.
GM sorry to hear you are rundown but not suprised with everything that's happened over the last year or so 💐.
Hope MD eye is improving.
Will make a drink and return to read everyone's happenings.
Enjoy your Friday and may you all find some ☀️.

Wyllow3 Fri 10-Feb-23 07:53:06

Good Morning from a mixed sky S Yorks, tho there was a glorious sunrise.

That made me smile, Ash and yes gMattie take it easy after months of stress.

I'm on the "two week test" routine and the Ultrasound went fine yesterday, colonoscopy Sunday which should be more useful.

Going to the gym as missing the natter and stretch out so much.

Best days, poorlies, and enjoy outings all. WWM glad you can start to feel better post all that work in the house.

Alygran Fri 10-Feb-23 07:55:56

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Another dry day. I had to water some shrubs in pots yesterday. Just a few weeks ago the fields around me were flooded!
Today I’m going to the arboretum with a friend. It’s well known for its many varieties of snowdrop. After that we’ll come back to the village pub for lunch.
GM hope you have a better day and your eyes improve.
Lots of grandparent duty about today. Enjoy.
Have a good day everyone.

Marydoll Fri 10-Feb-23 07:59:20

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 7°C.

Ashcombe, that did make me smile, a teacher with a sense of humour.

Glad to hear there is some improvement in you eyes, GM, it's not surprising you are feeling low.
Good news that your back is improving, Baubles.

Yesterday, I received a citation for jury duty and obviously I am unfit to carry it out.
I phoned the surgery to ask for a doctor's letter, to complete the exemption form. However, the surgery insisted I must make an appointment with a GP, despite earlier receiving a phone call checking up on me! There is only a seven day window to submit the letter. My stress levels are going up, by the minute.

Yesterday, wasn't so great a day heartwise, and I still can't drive. Consequently, I will need to ask DH to take me to get pick up prescriptions from my new, local pharmacy. They were quite surprised at my script for eleven medications (that's not all of them) and asked for time to sort them and to come back today.
My former pharmacy could take over a week to dispense , and often mislaid them. Things are looking better. 🤞
I am tired of being stuck in the house and have insisted on going with DH, just to get out and check all are there. I'm bringing a suitcase to carry them!

For all those who have worries or are poorly, I wish you a gentle day.

Enjoy your day, folks.
