Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy and grey and looks windy again
Good that you’ve a date for your operation mick, hoping all goes well
Pleased that things are moving along now gMattie and more plans can be made
I’ve my regular Sunday catch up video call with DS this morning then I’m hoping to wrap up warm and do bit of gardening, there’s always lots to do. DH is off to work for a couple of hours, he’s does a few hours a week cleaning and relaying the log fires at a local pub/restaurant which he really enjoys
Enjoy the birthday celebrations Susan and gramdmabatty, that cake is amazing, well done to your DD!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Marydoll Sun 19-Feb-23 08:26:38

Good morning all from a showery Glasgow, where its 5°C.

The hospital appear to be very good at keeping you informed Mick. It would be great if it was only day surgery, but perhaps a stay in hospital, would be better, as you have no-one at home to look after you on discharge.
I echo what others say about isolating before your op, you don't want to put yourself or others at risk, by catching a bug.

Yesterday, the vertigo returned with a vengeance, I couldn't get out of bed. It was such a disappointment, when I thought I was improving.
However, later in the afternoon, DD and SIL , appeared on their way to returning Dollie to her parents, who were out for lunch.
It was totally unexpected and gave me such a boost!

Kalu, I hope you had a great day with your family yesterday.

I'm glad you are more settled GM, enjoy furnishing your new home.
I have to say, GM, what a fabulous cake!

glammagran, my Ninja all in one, has been a godsend during my recent period of ill health, when I haven't been up to cooking.
My daughter bought hers from QVC recently, at a bargain price. However, I see it has gone up to £300 again.

I plan to do little today. Fajitas is an easy meal, I'm still not up to/up for our usual Sunday roast.

I wish you all a pleasant day and as always, thinking of those in the sick bay.

The rain and wind have now vanished and outside looks sunny and calm. Church this morning but nothing else planned though I have several phone calls to make. Good news from Mick and grandMattie though the coming weeks will be very busy for gM with so much decision making. Let’s hope everything is straightforward.

kittylester Sun 19-Feb-23 08:31:50

Good morning all from a brightish bit of North Leicestershire.

Not much happening here. I have to make a beef casserole as requested by dh - not my favourite meal but hey ho. I like to spoil him sometimes.

And, the people who are renting the house next door for 6 months are popping round to say hello.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 19-Feb-23 08:32:27

Morning all

Good news on the flat grandMattie
Mick you must be relieved to finally have a date for your operation.

We are going out for breakfast about 10.30 then I shall potter and read, roast chicken around 6.30/7 pm.

We booked a short break at Legoland yesterday to take DD’s boys for a few days. Now have to find somewhere to take other GC 🤣

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Beechnut Sun 19-Feb-23 08:33:20

The cake is great Grandmabatty.

Alygran Sun 19-Feb-23 08:42:28

Good morning from North Yorkshire. A bright sunny start here.
DD2 has just got up so it’ll be time for breakfast in a little while.
She’s going to help me decide on clothes for my holiday. there are lots of different activities so it’s hard to work out what to take!
Great cake Grandmabatty. Pleased to hear about the flat Grandmattie
Have a good day everyone.

Georgesgran Sun 19-Feb-23 08:48:47

Good morning from Durham. Still feeling below par, but getting there, I hope.
DD2 is taking me up the coast for lunch, but I can’t taste anything, so I won’t waste her money! The drive will be good.
Good advice again Mick about pre-op limitations - you are so close now.
Exciting times now gM
A better day, I hope for MaryD
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where it is trying to brighten up. If it does, I may pop into the garden and put in some bluebells in the hope they may spread.
I'm being annoyed by animals out there again...a cat discovering it can c..p in my bark mulch and the new neighbours have a dog that yowls and barks when it sees me in the garden, even when I'm on the far side of it. One of my absolute hates.
Otherwise a quiet day with admin and finishing off the papers.

glammagran I once made kumquat marmalade when my little tree produced sufficient to make one jar. It was delicious.
And an amazing cake Grandmabatty...that's one very talented cakemaker.

I hope you all have a pleasant Sunday.

luluaugust Sun 19-Feb-23 08:55:11

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. Usual chat to DB and then off to DS and DIL's today for lunch and a catch up with DGD in the middle of mock exams. They have been away for half term so plenty to catch up on. Yesterday DH and I went round the corner to collect the newspaper, as we were walking along I glanced down at my feet and realised I had put odd shoes on, I have two pairs of navy lace ups and had mixed them up, I am sure that wouldn't have happened a few years ago.
Take care Mick usual good advice from everyone.
gM so pleased for you, you have a little time to sort out the furniture.
Wow to the cake GM
Best wishes to all

Morning, the sun is peeking through in S Hampshire. Stunning cake Grandmabatty and progress for you gMattie.
We’re taking the children and grandchildren out for lunch to a local pub, we’ve been there often, proper home cooked food at a reasonable price. They all get on so well, it’ll be a pleasant couple of hours.
Enjoy your birthday parties, other meet ups, gardening or just being!

Grandmabatty Sun 19-Feb-23 09:01:15

Thank you all for your nice comments about the cake. Dd is a gifted baker and cook. Her food always tastes as good as it looks.

ginny Sun 19-Feb-23 09:03:19

Good morning from a sunny N.Bucks.
We had a lovely day with little Grandson yesterday, he was so happy all day.
Unfortunately just as we were putting him to bed I started to feel very hot and sick so DH had to take over. I think maybe my blood sugar had dropped as I didn’t have much to eat yesterday thinking we were going for an Indian meal later in the evening.
That didn’t happen.
Anyway I feel ok this morning but will have an easy day just pottering.
Not yet read through the thread so will come back later.
Wishing all a good day.

Kalu Sun 19-Feb-23 09:11:21

Good morning from Glasgow. Today’s weather is to be ignored, dreich sums it up.

Thank you for sharing your glorious sunrise Grey. A much more preferable outlook to the start of the day. Hope you find your stick. 🤞
What a talented baker your DD is Grandmabatty The Spider-Man cake is superb and your DGS will love it. Enjoy the party 🎉
We had a lovely day thanks Marydoll . I’m sorry to hear your vertigo returned just when you were beginning to feel so much better. Hoping you feel better as the day goes on.

Yesterday was just one of those perfect days with DD1 and the girls. Lots of chat and laughter over a long lazy lunch. Sitting around relaxed and happy, they decided to stay over. The cat and I are the only two awake so far.

Have a good Sunday all whatever your plans may be.

ShazzaKanazza Sun 19-Feb-23 09:11:53

Good morning Mick and everyone from Hull and it’s a beautiful day.

Very pleased you have can think about the next stage of moving now your offer is accepted grandMattie.

Greyduster that’s a lovely sunrise pic and Grandmabatty I echo how talented your DD is creating the cake.

We have the DC and grandchildren over today and possibly my nephew and his little daughters. The house will be in chaos with all the toys. For tea we are finishing off the turkey crown from Christmas. I’ll slice it and cook it in gravy with veg and Yorkshire puds.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone and enjoy your Sunday lunches with family and friends. 🌻🌻

NannyJan53 Sun 19-Feb-23 09:18:57

Good morning from a cloudy but increasingly brightening Black Country.

Thank you for the good wishes for MrJ. He had the procedure (apparently a membrane can sometime appear after a cataract Op) and was in and out within an hour as he said it was fairly quiet there. Drops for 4 weeks, and hopefully all is ok.

Gym this morning, then a relaxing day as I am out every day next week.

Wishing you all a very pleasant Sunday.

Wyllow3 Sun 19-Feb-23 09:24:22

Morning all from a now sunny S Yorks. Missed that glorious sunrise Greyduster and so hope you find your stick. Take it easy Mick and glad to hear your news GMattie

Need a really easy day but will make it to Quakers.

Take care all and enjoy outings and families.

harrigran Sun 19-Feb-23 09:35:36

Good morning from a sunny NE after heavy overnight rain.
DD and SIL are coming today and we are going to a bistro for lunch. Long time since I was last there so am looking forward to it, they do a fabulous tarte tatin and tarte au citron.
GD1 and her mum won't be visiting next week as they are off to Leicester and Sheffield for uni open days, can't believe we are at this point already.
Good news about your flat grandMattie, hope everything goes smoothly.
Have a good day all.

Mizuna Sun 19-Feb-23 09:41:47

Good morning from an overcast south Cornwall. I'm ex-Alizarin but had to change my name because I've had a break for a while.

The photo is for Marydoll; if you can ignore all the other stuff you'll see that my patio pear tree budding. Last year yours fruited and mine didn't but I'm optimistic this year. smile

A peaceful, pottering day for me with church at 4o'clock.

dustyangel Sun 19-Feb-23 09:59:30

Good morning all from grey Algarve, it looks as if it rained during the night. Both daughters and niece have been here since Friday and don’t go home until tomorrow morning. They have had a good time and are determined to go to Carnaval this afternoon even if it rains again.
Plans had to be changed dramatically on Friday morning as DH was going to collect them from the airport at about 9.30am.
I’d stayed in bed whilst he went to have a shower first on Friday but suddenly heard strange noises.
DH’s legs had given way again and he’d collapsed on the bathroom floor. He’d collapsed in the shower but had managed to drag himself across the floor and was stuck, stark naked across the floor behind the door! Still unable to get up but completely coherent, he was half on, half off his bath towel. I somehow managed to get into the bathroom and after I’d made sure nothing was obviously broken covered him up to keep him warm and had to phone for an ambulance. By this time, the girls were due to land within the hour and had no idea what had been happening. When the ambulance eventually found us they decided to take him to the local Health Centre instead of Faro Hospital and knowing that they wouldn’t let me stay with him until all the checks had been done, I decided to stay at home until I’d messaged them and knew a bit more.

To cut a long story short, DH seems quite alright but will be seeing his doctor as soon as we can get an appointment. I should have collected blood test results last Friday but now have to wait to get them on Monday after which presumably I will need to see the doctor and hopefully DH will have even more tests to find out why this is happening.

I’m feeling somewhat fraught and just wish that the girls, who are all in their fifties and laugh at being called that, could stay another few days.

What a scare dusty. No wonder you’d like your family with you a little longer. Hope mr dusty continues to feel well and there’s some clarification. Look after yourself too. flowers.

Good morning from West York's weather getting brighter and a little warmer .Good news about obtaining flat Grandmattie . Grandmabatty. cake is amazing .not much happening here today.

BlueSapphire Sun 19-Feb-23 10:31:53

A late good morning from a bright and sunny Northampton, still rather damp from yesterday's rain, so my plan of cutting the grass today is scuppered. I shall instead get out and do some general tidying.

The roof man failed to appear yesterday, so will give him a ring tomorrow.

A wonderful outcome to my rugby match yesterday! After being 17 points down at half time we effected a remarkable recovery to beat Sale 38-34. I went home a very happy bunny, (and also with a new club tee-shirt, as I had a few minutes to browse in the club shop before the match).

No other plans for today apart from gardening. Must also go back and read today's thread. Glad there is good.news for grandMattie and Mick.

hollysteers Sun 19-Feb-23 10:44:39

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Yesterday I had a nice visit with my Dsister to a nearby Elizabethan hall. She had only visited it once before many years ago, when I sang with a lutenist, a dear friend who has passed away so it was like a new trip for her. Like many nice things on one’s doorstep, I had forgotten about it and mean to go more regularly. We had lunch there and she went into the city in the evening to meet an old boyfriend, dressed up, in one of my nice black chiffon sleeved tops. I gratefully settled down with my new tv which I don’t understand.
Tonight we may go to a local folk club and she returns south tomorrow.
Good news grandMattie and plans for op firming up Mick.
Hope you all have the best Sunday you can.

Grandmabatty Sun 19-Feb-23 11:01:50

Mizuna I've often wondered what you were up to! Welcome back. Dusty what a terrible fright for you.
