First time posting. My 95 year old mum lives with us. I am her carer. She fell at 10.30. Hurt her hip and knee and shoulder. Ambulance will be 4 to 8 hours at least. She’s on a hard wooden floor. We can’t move her. She’s in so much pain. And she’s so lovely.
Never complains and I can’t bear to see her laying there. And there’s nothing I can do.
She’s blind. Deaf. Very limited mobility. But so stoical and cheerful. And I’m so sad and frightened.
Thanks for reading.

We’ve had excellent service so far. She’s had an x ray. Really lovely nurses. But don’t think there’s any beds . Lots of people in chairs in the waiting area looking very poorly.
Came in by a wheelchair friendly taxi contracted to the NHS.
Feeling less stressed now. Thank you all.

Thinking of you and your poor mother. What a relief that she's being cared for so well. It's a story I've heard a lot recently of a long wait for help to arrive, but when it does the professionals are amazing. Take care of yourself too. flowers

Yes as stated above, do take care of yourself and have some rest when you can. You did very well getting help and looking after your Mum as best you could. Let us know how she progresses and how you are too.

I don’t have any brothers or sisters so all her care is down to me and my lovely husband.
We are very tired at present and were looking forward to our weeks respite.
We are in our mid/late sixties.
Fit and healthy. But so tired.
Next to be seen. A nurse has gone to make me a cup of tea.

This is Gransnet at its best, isn't it Jellybaby? Hope the day gets better and better for you and mum.

Hang on in there Jellybaby. Fingers crossed nothing is broken and Mum will be OK.

Just seen your posts jellybaby. Our goddaughter has recently been through the same with her mum. It’s a heart wrenching time. I hope you’ve both been well cared for.

I hope your Mum is okay now and they can get her a bed.
I have spent many a night with my parents in the same situation so really feel for you.
Let us know how she is.

I do hope your Mum is feeling more comfortable now, Jellybaby, and that there are no broken bones. Get some rest soon and do let us know how things are. 💐xx

Jellybaby71011 Mon 27-Feb-23 07:40:21

Pelvis fracture apparently. My phone is running out of charge now. So I’ll catch up with all your comments later. I’m escaping a bedpan trauma at present!
Shewee didn’t cut the mustard!
My usual thread is the good morning one. Thank you again.

Oh Jellybaby how awful your poor mum and you. So pleased help arrived. I was in a similar position with my mum, but thankfully just before the pandemic so the ambulance wasn’t long at all. They insisted she take two paracetamol whilst lying on her back, very difficult as you can imagine.
She had broken her hip at 88. She’s still here, she’s 91 living independently too.
Hope your mum makes a good and speedy recovery.

NannyJan53 Mon 27-Feb-23 07:45:58

Just seen this. Sending love to you and your lovely Mum x

GranEd Mon 27-Feb-23 07:57:14

Oh Jellybaby how awful.. Hope your mum is feeling more comfortable now and you can both get a little rest.
Hugs 🤗 to you both.

BlueBelle Mon 27-Feb-23 08:02:26

Only just caught up with this, so pleased you contacted 111 and got a paramedic to come and help your mum and you and so glad she’s now in a safe place even if they are juggling beds etc The nurses and doctors will be lovely to your mum and do everything they can for her (and for you )
When my mum was dying she was in a small room they bought me a fold up bed a blanket and cooked me porridge and made cups of coffee

I can only send you a virtual hug have a rest and then you can get back to your precious mum 🤞🏼🙏💐

Susan56 Mon 27-Feb-23 08:08:56

I hope your mum is more comfortable and that she now has a bed.

Your first post brought tears to my eyes, a 95 year old lady being told the wait for an ambulance will be so long.

Sending love to your lovely mum, yourself and your husband💐

Jaxjacky Mon 27-Feb-23 08:15:12

Better news Jellybaby, take care of yourself too.

ginny Mon 27-Feb-23 08:22:26

Hope your Mum is more comfy now and you can get some sleep. X

Grammaretto Mon 27-Feb-23 08:25:11

I am very relieved for you and hope you and DH can get some sleep soon.
To recharge ALL your batteries.

You have done all you could.

Unlike when my poor mum lay on the floor for 13 hours before being found, with her hip broken in 3 places. She had a buzzer but it wasn't on her. My siblings and I still feel guilty.

Aveline Mon 27-Feb-23 08:26:01

Now that your Mum is being looked after jellybaby it's time for you to have a rest. Sleep if you can. You'll need to recharge your batteries before re entering the fray. Best wishes
