Am I alone thinking this about King Charles today?

Poor them, they can't do right for doing wrong. The late Duke of Windsor when P of W was sometimes known to shake hands with his left-hand as his right got so sore from being continually used. Often he had his hands in his pockets too, shockingly! If these two didn't go out and about,they would be heavily criticised, if they do, they are often picked to pieces. Because of security the King, like the late Queen has to move on smartly, Camilla, like Philip, unfortunately has to 'manage'. Being booed must be horrid and a bit nerve wracking, and the people who do it should be ashamed at being so nasty and rude, but of course they're not. Having to smile and greet on a nasty cold day when you haven't been well and getting on a bit? I'm jolly glad its not me. "I wouldn't be king for a hundred pounds" said Alice!

If it's royal protocol, then it's another reason I don't like the monarchical system.

I remember there was a big media fuss when Meghan Markle closed the car door after her - a terrible faux pas apparently - she should have left it for some minion to close!

it's not just about minions, security personnel have a big input in how things are done, and it's important that the principals keep to arrangements.

The rule at my school back round about 1960 was that boys were only allowed to put their hands in their pockets after three years (when they were in the sixth form). There is also a difference between lounging around with one's hands in one's trouser pockets, and walking along with one's hand in a jacket pocket, as King Charles tends to do.

Oh, let the poor man put his swollen arthritic hands into his jacket pockets for a warm-up without micro-criticism. They are not in his trousers playing pocket billiards! He is 73, and how many posters in their 70s or beyond have reached that age without aches and pains? Doctors have suggested arthritis or oedema has caused the swelling.
