Rather cheeky but I think Mick is away?

BlueBalou Sat 11-Mar-23 07:00:04

Good morning everyone from south Somerset where I’m on a watercolour painting weekend and having a great time!
It’s blooming cold here 🥶
I had an easy drive down, I really don’t know why I get so anxious about driving.
DH is home alone with DDog, the carpenter started assembling the bookcases yesterday, it was chaos so rather glad to escape the noise!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend x

I think Mick is on a coach trip to Harrogate so thank you for opening up, BlueBalou.

The play was excellent with an almost full house (over 200!) then a very busy bar afterwards. All five performances so far have been well supported and the final two are today. People like what they know - The Importance of Being Earnest is always a favourite! It was a long evening with two intervals but we sold lots of drinks and ice creams and I’ve learnt to work a card machine, a recent innovation at all the selling points. (Bar, coffee shop, etc)

Enjoy whatever you’re doing! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning Blue and thank you for opening.

We still have a lot of snow on the garden but the roads are clear.

DD dropped the children off mid afternoon for a sleepover so she can catch up on work she couldn’t do while the school and nursery were closed.

DGD and I are walking into town this morning.

I have attached a picture of H(with DD’s permission)☃️

Take care out and about everyone and have the best day you can🦩

GrannyGravy13 Sat 11-Mar-23 07:06:39

Morning all

Thank you BlueBalou for opening up, I hope Mick arrived safely in Harrogate and enjoying his break

I am off for a spa today with two of my DiL’s, looking forward to a relaxing facial, massage followed by a tasty late lunch. It is rare that we can get together without children or husbands, much chatter and laughter will be had, I am extremely blessed.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Good morning BB and thank you. Raining here and cold in s somerset

Today will be an easy day again, the weather is not dragging me out and there are no specific jobs. Luckily I am content with my own company and I like my hobbies, my frogged yarn is rapidly being used and my jumper is growing quickly. Radio and tv are definitely good companions at times

Tuesday will be a good outside drying day, this week and that means sun, I am looking forward to it

Taichinan Sat 11-Mar-23 07:15:56

Good morning all. And goodness me! I have never been so early in the thread rankings! It's a cloudier day on the Angus coast, so not so frosty. Yesterday was glorious from dawn to dusk and I enjoyed a long coffee break sitting in the warm sunshine, with snow all around me.
Glad your Front of House stint went well Ash. I've nothing to report so will make way for those that do. I hope Mick enjoys his break to Harrogate - where I doubt it will be warmer. Safe travels to the travellers and stay cosy to the rest x

cornergran Sat 11-Mar-23 07:18:49

Morning bluebalou. Morning All from a very cold corner of Somerset.

Yesterday’s trip out was very enjoyable. We made it to the coach without getting wet, the snow that began to fall didn’t settle, the roads were kind and the day very enjoyable, we walked back from the coach stop under a clear sky. It was long, 13 hours out, but worth it to see how much Mr C enjoyed himself.

Not as relaxing as a spa day grannygravy, sounds ideal. Me? A haircut booked for too early to be sensible. Mr C will rest for a while I think. We will wander out for lunch, somewhere with a warm fire would be good

Enjoy the rest of your weekend bluebalou, thank you for opening. Agree with ash, also think mick has fine in a short break.

Take care everyone. Stay warm.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. This may be a quiet weekend, but I’m not sure. OH is hoping to order a multitude of equipment for his new hobby - beekeeping. Hives and all the associated paraphernalia. He has a friend who has promised space on his farm for the hives as our garden isn’t big enough. So a stark contrast to last weekend when we had elder son and granddaughter here! I may do a little baking. I have a tiny bit of WI admin - but I always do! I send out an email to all the ladies reminding them about the forthcoming meeting. Every single lady - apart from one - has access to the internet etc. The exception just refuses to learn about emails so I have to print everything off for her. Fortunately she lives very close by. Apparently her daughter has offered to teach her the rudiments and supply a computer, but no. The lady flatly refuses! Another WI member held back for years until her sons persuaded her to use a computer and now she’s in her element and loves it. Small rant over. There’s enough ‘heavy’ stuff going on in the wider world. Have a good day.

Wow! Love that snowman Susan - and so does H by the look of him.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 11-Mar-23 07:22:35

Good morning from the South Downs.

Off to sisters this morning for a coffee and catchup. Hair appointment (at last) yesterday as my hairdresser has been laid very low with a nasty viral cold - she still looks proper peaky.

Spare ribs with veg for dinner

Gingster Sat 11-Mar-23 07:33:54

Good morning all and there’s a lovely sunrise over the sea here in Suffolk. Yesterday we had snow blizzards, sunshine, then sleet and rain, very strong icy winds, more sun and snow. Today it is calm with a frost but sunny. ☀️.

Our lovely neighbour came in for a coffee and chat. Nice to catch up with the local news.

Today we travel back to Essex - fingers crossed not much traffic on the A12 🤞. It’s been a restful week , relaxing and recharging our batteries, but it will be nice to get back to ‘normal’ life.

Have a lovely Spa day GG
Little H looks so cute Susan. ☃️.
Enjoy your painting weekend BlueBalou - I would love to do that. 🎨🖌️🧑‍🎨.

Enjoy your Saturdays, take care. ❤️🌷

Sar53 Sat 11-Mar-23 07:36:27

Good morning from a cold but dry Essex by the sea.
Our usual Saturday trip out for coffee this morning then a visit to the rugby club this afternoon. Their first team have their last game of the season and it's a big event.
Then it's home to watch England play in the 6 nations. DH loves his sport !!!
Have a super Saturday everyone xx

kittylester Sat 11-Mar-23 07:37:39

Good morning all from a chilly, slightly cloudy, dry North Leicestershire. We had a fabulous sun rise.

Beef casserole to make and freeze this morning ready for DD2's visit next weekend. And, we plan to nip into town later.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Georgesgran Sat 11-Mar-23 07:40:05

Good morning from Durham. We got home in one piece last night, despite a detour around Sheffield, where the snow was really thick and icy.
I have missed calls from the EA handling my rental - I hope it’s not bad news.
DD2’s washing machine has broken down, so I need to crack on with her lot - we are meeting up later to eat and do a birthday and half birthday present swap, so I’d like to take her laundry back with me.
I have so much ‘on’ at the moment, I need to hit the ground running.
Best wishes to all for the weekend. X

Marydoll Sat 11-Mar-23 07:41:06

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its -2°C, with snow forecast later.

Thank you BB for opening up, I hope you enjoy your break.

Yesterday was spent tidying up paperwork and shredding, a job I dislike, How do we manage to accumulate so much?

DS2 and DIL have invited us out for lunch at an Italian restaurant near their home.
Although a little apprehensive, I have offered to drive, to allow DH to enjoy a beer. My confidence has waned, it is a very busy road and snow is forecast. However, I must force myself to get back into the driving seat.

Wishing you all a pleasant Sunday.

Grandmabatty Sat 11-Mar-23 07:51:05

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -3° with clear skies. I'm getting fed up of winter now though. Time for milder air. Susan such a lovely photo! What a happy wee face. Cornergran a nice day out for you both,by the sound of it. Ladyleftfieldlover bees are amazing. I would love a hive but my garden isn't big enough and Sil is terrified of them.
Yesterday my housewife's soul was assuaged by getting all the washes done and the cleaning. The bright sun highlighted marks on the front of the kitchen cupboards, to my horror. I cleaned them too. The duster had an outing into the corners of ceilings as well.
This morning I have quite a few chores to do, but I woke with an upset stomach earlier on and I'm still not 100%. However needs must. I have food to buy, prescriptions to pick up, a ring to put into a jewellers to mend and my new specs to get so a busy morning it will be. Have a good day all

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 11-Mar-23 07:51:24

Good morning all from white Harrogate
I haven’t heard from Mick yet but assume he is here. He might find it a bit chilly for any exploring, but the sun is out so could be pleasant.
Yesterday had a trip to the out of town surgery but it was a waste of time and my feet got very wet in the mushy snow.
Have the best day possible folks

Pittcity Sat 11-Mar-23 07:55:12

Good morning from a frosty Colchester. The sleet/rain has stopped and the temperature is forecast to rise over the weekend.
DH is taking the car for a service this morning and I've declined his offer of going with him. I'll stay in the warm and potter.
Love to all 🦩 x

dragonfly46 Sat 11-Mar-23 07:58:59

Good morning from Manchester.
We finally made it in time to do a tour of all our old haunts on the Wilmslow road.
We were amazed at how Christie’s has grown since my friend was in there nearly 50 years ago. Thanks to them she survived.
The weather was glorious and now hoping to get home in time for the rugby.

Lovely picture Susan.
Wishing everyone a good day.

monk08 Sat 11-Mar-23 08:01:23

Good morning all from the Black country where the snow is disappearing and lots of blue in the sky. Thanks for opening up BlueBalou and enjoy your time away.
That's one impressive snowman Susan and one happy smiley boy.
We are over to Redditch this evening to our friends.
Will catch up with everybody's news later it's Saturday again so full English on the menu.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans, take care and may you all find some ☀️.

Grandmabatty Sat 11-Mar-23 08:02:06

I hope Grandmattie got home safely.

Good morning Folks from South Bucks.

Back safely from our 10 day stay looking after our DGSs near Brighton. Although we are very tired it is much easier now the boys are 10 and 12. The youngest is super organised and any time we got muddled with their timetables and what set of clothes to wear he sorted it 👍.

Hope Mick is enjoying his break away.

I agree Mary it is easy to lose one’s confidence in driving, but since I have got back behind the wheel my skills are improving.

grandMattie Sat 11-Mar-23 08:06:40

I’m late, I’m late!…..
Good morning from E Kent, where there has been a frost. Not even out yet.
I must have been tired as I went to bed just after 9 last night and have only now woken up.
My journey was uneventful, connections easily met, no waits longer than about 30 minutes. In Edinburgh, my heart sank when a very large, noisy hen party came into the carriages they were joined by about 5 other smaller but no quieter groups. The train appeared absolutely packed. The noise was indescribable. I’ve not been on such a noisy trail apart from a football one.
When I then took the train via Dover, it was the same, though a little quieter. All that noise is very tiring, on top of the 8 hours on the road, time. No wonder I was exhausted.
All quiet today; Iran the fridge down and now need to refill it.
Have a good day, you lovely gentle folk. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️

Good morning all from a dry but frosty North Yorkshire. I only seem to manage to post about once a week but always read your posts. Have DGD staying over this evening, fortunately had a good night’s sleep last night. Many worries at the moment, not least both DSiS having investigations for the dreaded C. However will try and enjoy the day today, more potting on and seed sowing etc. Hope Mick is enjoying Harrogate and not exhausting himself. DH and myself got married in Harrogate with just two friends as witnesses on a beautiful sunny September day so fond memories of Harrogate, not to mention the lovely gardens at Harlow Carr where I visited with DD a couple of weeks ago. Think GM must be travelling home right now. Hope the day is kind to you all.
