So sorry you have yet more sad news Soop, I hope your sister’s surgery has been successful and there is a treatment path in place soon.

cornergran Fri 05-May-23 06:37:55

We’re back home. Such a good week but there truly is nothing like the comfort of my own bed.

I’m so sorry soop, you’ve a lot of worry and sadness to deal with. My thoughts are with your sister, her family and of course with you. Look after that foot, it looks very painful.

Good wishes to those who have or are about to celebrate birthdays, it will be my turn on Monday. A very low key day, our week away was sufficient celebration.

Early in our visit we spotted a water colour of the beach so enjoyed by our family and indeed by us over many years. It was in a gallery displaying the work of many artists and crafts people local to the area. After much deliberation of the should we/shouldn’t we; will it fit/look right type it came home with us. So pleased, it fits perfectly with our room and will be a permanent reminder of a very special time.

Must deal with what seems to be far more laundry than is reasonable and refill the fridge. Back to reality for sure. It looks grey and bleak out there. I’ll be cheered by the smothered in flower montana scrambling over the back fence and the two rhododendrons beginning to flower.

I have read all your news, my apologies for not mentioning you all. TOYA.

soop, sad news about your sister, hoping that her operation was successful & that her recovery is good. flowers.

Nannytopsy, sorry you are suffering a lot of arthritic pain with your knee & hip, hope you get help soon.
( 67 doesn't sound old to me.....I'm 10 years older than you, smile.)

Warm greetings to you all.

hulahoop Fri 05-May-23 12:09:18

brook2704 Fri 05-May-23 21:03:47

Good evening all kitchen pals, I’ve just opened a bottle of wine as it’s Friday and I’ve had a busy week!
DGS has just gone off for a Cubs camping weekend at Brodie, hoping it stays dry and DGD is having a friend to stay over
I did the dreaded circuits class at the gym, hard work but I think I’m gradually getting a bit stronger. After that a trip to Tesco to get a few treats in to enjoy with DH whilst watching the coronation tomorrow.
Hope you get your injections soon hula and you can get back to walking and nannytopsy hope your pain eases a bit soon too - and you’re definitely not to feel old!
Lovely to see you hiraeth 👋

Jaxjacky Fri 05-May-23 21:20:13

Depressing hulahoop let’s hope you get that soon. Pleasant walk earlier today at the local rec where a marquee has been erected for tomorrow, sadly the weather is looking dire.
We have children, grandchildren plus my brother and his wife for a bbq on Sunday, our usual for early May, 🤞it stays dry.
That picture was meant to be yours corner a lovely memory for you to reminisce over.
Enjoy your Saturday all, whatever you’re up to.

Nannytopsy Sat 06-May-23 18:21:47

Well I finished the ironing while watching the Coronation! I loved the music and I was fascinated to watch the horses, who were not all on their best behaviour!
Is your sister recovering from her surgery soop? Lets hope we get some better weather soon, to cheer her.
Enjoy the long weekend everyone.

Jaxjacky Sat 06-May-23 18:56:41

What a lazy day, sat on my btm watching the Coronation, which was wonderful, I occasionally moved for a hot drink and my usual brunch. MrJ quietly let me get on with it and was happier when the football came on at 3.
It’s rained all day here too, I felt sorry for those who had outside events. We’ve got family here for a bbq tomorrow, forecast is dry, hopefully; we’ll be 10, so moving indoors is feasible, just about.
I hope you’ve all enjoyed your day, have a pleasant evening.

brook2704 Sat 06-May-23 19:17:00

I’ve also had a lazy day watching the tv, paused a few times whilst I put the kettle on! We had our own celebratory afternoon tea, coronation chicken sandwiches, quiche, cherry cake and chocolates whilst sat in the conservatory- all with my best tea set out 🤣
Hoping it stays dry for your family bbq tomorrow Jax
I loved seeing the horses too nannytopsy and that gold coach - wow amazing!

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 06-May-23 22:04:05

Hello everyone. I too sat glued to the Coronation for what seemed like hours! OH had to pop out to the Apiary and I had to buy petrol. It was down to 1.39!!! I cooked guinea fowl and all the trimmings for dinner. I made a Diana Henry chocolate and olive oil cake for pudding and it was delicious. Served with cream of course. It was such a shame it rained but that didn’t seem to put the crowds off. Sleep 💤 tight.

Blossoming Sat 06-May-23 22:37:43

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. It’s been a wet and windy day here. I’ve been listening to a very interesting podcast series about the rise and fall of Hernán Cortės and occasionally checking the coronation updates on Twitter. I don’t have the concentration to watch such long events and I empathise with those sitting through it. Steam trains tomorrow, children’s fancy dress with a prize for best costume. I’m sure there will be lots of little princesses, hope the weather is a bit better for them,

Goodnight all, sleep tight.

soop Sun 07-May-23 15:40:42

Sunny good afternoon greetings to you lovely lot.

We await further news of my sister's recovery from major surgery. My niece spoke briefly to her on the morning after the operation. She had been informed of the seriousness of the outcome. Sadly, her dear husband couldn't be with her at that time. I find that fact very difficult to understand. My eldest son is just eight months younger than my youngest sister. She was born when our mother was in her forties. We live several hundred miles apart. I keep wondering how I may visit her once she is in recovery.
It's good to have you back with us, Hiraeth. smile

We spent Coronation day with fifteen pals. We all contributed food and watched the event on a wide-screen television. It was a joyful occasion. I especially liked the moment when Prince William kissed his father. The wonderful orchestrated pageantry was faultless.

hula and Nannytopsy I sympathise with you, together with all our Kitcheners who are dealing with painful joints.

corner You will never regret having bought the painting that was surely meant to find it's way into your home.

The sun is a warm nineteen degrees at this moment. Mr Soop is enjoying time in the garden. Very soon we shall have dozens of wild yellow Iris in bloom. The bluebells and wild garlic smother the verges.

annsixty Sun 07-May-23 17:09:45

Good afternoon all.
soop I am sorry to hear about your sister, I hope her prognosis is good.
I enjoyed my visit to my my neighbour yesterday, she got upset a couple of times with reminders of her late H but we watched solidly for several hours.
She is very deaf and is awaiting new batteries for her hearing aids , it led to slight confusion and many repeated conversations but it was all good.
It has been the most beautiful day weatherwise here.
Very warm and sunny marred by a neighbour I do not know, several doors away playing music very, very loudly, no problem with that except every other word was the “f” word.
Even my GD was shocked.
How does such music get made and how can people enjoy it?
I feel this is not a time for going with the flow.
Have the best evening you can everyone, I think a glass of something red will be enjoyed here.

Yiayia4 Sun 07-May-23 17:30:35

Good afternoon Kitcheners.
I’m so sorry to hear the news of your sister Soop and hope the outcome will be a good one.🌹
We spent the day at DS3’s house yesterday.Enjoyed every minute despite the weather.Quiet day today,my psoriasis and hives are terrible. The doctor said the hives can last for months and the stress and pollen are not helping.😖
We have now put our final offer on the apartment with garden. The full asking price as,we feel it will be right for us.Needs a bit of work but will be worth it.Will know on Tuesday.🤞🤞
Have a pleasant Evening all its very warm and sunny here.

annsixty Sun 07-May-23 17:40:22

Good luck then Yiayia I hope you have good news on Tuesday.

brook2704 Sun 07-May-23 17:47:05

I’m keeping everything crossed for you Yia and hope your offer is accepted 🤞
I’d feel the same about that music ann and wouldn’t want to have to listen to it!
We’re in Aberdeenshire just now, just arrived at a lovely traditional Scottish hotel. We stopped off at Castle Fraser and spent a good few hours there exploring the grounds and castle and of course a trip to the tea room too. We’re going for a dip in the pool here at the hotel and then heading to the bar!
Hoping you can find a way to somehow visit your sister soop 💐

soop Sun 07-May-23 17:48:31

Yia I am feeling hopeful that the apartment with a garden will be the answer to your dreams. I shall raise a glass of cheer to you and all our Kitcheners a little later this evening.

Until we meet again. smile moon

soop Sun 07-May-23 17:49:30

brook ENJOY!

Charleygirl5 Sun 07-May-23 18:11:28

yIA YIA i WILL KEEP MY FINGERS CROSSES YOUR OFF IS ACCEPTED

Yia I hope your offer is accepted and there is not a long chain.

soop it is so difficult when you live so far apart and can do zilch about your sister.

ann a good job I was not there or I would have been knocking on that door. It is unacceptable in this day and age and who wants to share that type of music? Nobody.

The weather here has been gorgeous. I sat outside for an hour watching my washing dry and the weeds growing. I applied weed killer on a supposedly dry day recently but it rained a couple of hours later.

soop has Sweetie Pie visited recently?

Charleygirl5 Sun 07-May-23 18:12:24

Oh dear, I do not know what happened there.

SueDonim Sun 07-May-23 18:21:27

Hello, just checking into the Kitchen! smile

I hope things improve for your sister, Soop. flowers

Good luck vibes for your offer, Yia. 🤞

There sounds to be some good days enjoyed by the Kitchen folk - lovely!

We had my dd and family over yesterday. We consumed a ridiculous amount of party food and cake and today all I want to eat is vegetables. grin

It was a yet another dull day this morning but by 2pm the sun had come out and temperature had risen. I took the opportunity to finally plant my roses in containers. The rose compost was rather smelly and I can still detect it’s lingering aroma even though I’ve washed myself throughly…..👀.

Before that, I met a friend in a garden centre. We caught up on news and exchanged views on the coronation over a pot of tea and scones.

I think dd will be back with the GC tomorrow - it’s due to rain all day so I’ve no idea what entertainments we can provide.

Enjoy the concert this evening, if you’re watching. If not, have a peaceful time! TOYA. Xx

Jaxjacky Sun 07-May-23 18:32:42

How very thoughtless for your sister soop, uncaring and worrying for you 💐
Everything crossed Yia if it’s accepted, your body should relax a bit and the dratted reactions resolve.
That sounds very civilised brook! Have a lovely time.
The sun arrived, a little before yours SueD so the bbq was a proper outside and relaxed event, no scurrying between showers. Great to see my brother with his wife, my children and our grandchildren. Imogen was making daisy chains, an extra long one for the greenhouse!
Enjoy your evening all

Nannytopsy Sun 07-May-23 18:36:50

🤞for Yiayia .
Smug city here - potatoes, lettuces, runner and French beans, mangetout and strawberries all planted out and the grass has been cut. Lovely to get a whole, uninterrupted day in the garden!
Enjoy the evening!

Grandmabatty Sun 07-May-23 18:48:47

Evening Kitcheners. Yiayia fingers crossed for a positive outcome. Soop 💐 for your sister.
I was very sick again last night so I'll have to make a doctor's appointment on Tuesday. However mum has been taken into hospital with a suspected stroke and possible infection so I've been there. I came home to tell dd and to have something to eat. I'm furious at my brother for many reasons. He lives with mum and let her lie in bed for 36 hours before he contacted my aunt and uncle for help. He didn't contact me until my uncle told him to. He let mum lie in her own filth all that time without food or drink because "he didn't know what to do." He should have got help sooner but didn't. I could say more but there's no point. Mum and I have a difficult relationship but I would never act so negligently. Anyway I'm heading back to the hospital for a while. I'll have to keep my mouth firmly shut. Have a good evening Kitcheners
