Happy birthday Mr Dusty 🎂🎉

As usual I am behind with kitchen news.

On the plus side I attacked the Everest of ironing piles, all is now put away.

I have collapsed on the sofa with a glass of wine and watching great British menu

Nightie Night X

How extremely odd. I just popped in to the kitchen this evening and found that my lunch time post had been halved and had apparently been posted in the early evening! Our internet seems to have a life of its own.

I feel much more relaxed now , lovely lunch and a glass of wine this evening. Earlier we needed extra batteries from the local supermarket and I happened across a supposedly healthy snack hmm I thought they might go down well in the kitchen…called dates in cocoa but the cocoa just happens to be Belgian chocolate. Fortunately we’ve finished our packet but in this no calorie kitchen you can eat as many as you are able.

Today has been the same as yesterday, foul weather and little energy so have been listening to Discworld audio books with MrB.

Happy Birthday to MrDusty. Thanks for sharing your lovely photos Topsy and Brook.

Goodnight, TOYA ❤️

Happy Birthday Mr Dusty.
It’s my DH’s 80th tomorrow, St Patrick’s day.
I too have been cleaning as my DS and DBiL arrive tomorrow ready for a family get together hosted by our DD2 on Saturday.
As well as his 80th we are celebrating two Golden Weddings, two 50th birthdays, one 40th birthday, two 75th birthdays and another 80th birthday, all of which took places during the several lockdowns, which meantwe couldn’t all gather. The last time the whole family were together was 2015 !! The number of guests stands at 21.
Phew! Glad I’m not doing the catering.
Sweet dreams all.

Nannytopsy Thu 16-Mar-23 21:45:14

Wow * Grandmachrisy47* that’s a couple of houses full! I hope you all have a great time 😊

Grandmachrisy47 Thu 16-Mar-23 22:09:24

Nannytopsy, thank you. Fortunately DD2 has a large house plus a separate garden room. I’m super excited 😆

Gosh, there are a lot of birthdays in the kitchen. Happy birthday 🥳 !🎉🐇
I saw a physio today about my arthritic thumb. Basically I can have four cortisone injections a year. But they only do them one day per month. Last time, a few years ago, the GP simply opened his desk drawer, took out a syringe and gave me an injection. Apparently not a single member of the medical staff can do this now, so someone comes in once a month. I tried to book for April but it was full so I booked an appointment in May. In the meantime I am wearing a thumb support and have been given exercises to do. It might be that I can cancel the appointment. Mmm. The Lent group I attend was good. We talked about animal welfare.

Happy, clappy birthday greetings to all those with celebrations to enjoy.

I have yet to do a proper catch up. Pal called in to collect her pet portraits. She is THRILLED. I am all aglow.

We will be seeing Baggs after all. We will drive to her home. Super excited.

Back with you later.

A quick visit. My friend is still hanging on but is comatose most of the time. I haven't been able to be with her yesterday and today as I've been really sick and don't want to pass it on. If I'm not sick tonight, I'll go over for a few hours tomorrow. Soop lovely portrait. My best wishes to you all

Susan56 Fri 17-Mar-23 14:44:38

I have been thinking of you Grandmabatty💐I hope you feel better and are able to visit your friend later.x

SueDonim Fri 17-Mar-23 15:22:47

Thinking of you Grandmabatty. Difficult days for you and I hope you’re feeling better now. flowers

Sending strength to Baggs dd. A similar event occurred in ds2’s life and it was a shattering thing to cope with. The one blessing was that a cohort of friends gathered together and supported each other hugely. I hope it’s the same for Minibaggs. I’ve just seen that Baggs has fallen, I hope she is recovering well. flowers

I’ve missed a lot here but I’ll do my best. Happy birthday to those who are celebrating. 🎂 Those dog portraits are gorgeous, Soop.

I’ve just been doing family things with ds this week. Yesterday I was an ‘American mom’ - going to meet GD off her yellow school bus. This morning the tornado siren went off - luckily it was just the weekly system test! Though it was very windy last night, I’m surprised we’re still here this morning. grin

Ds1 is feeling a lot brighter now the worst of the side effects have worn off. He and ds2 have been having fun, going off for lunches and working together on a giant Lego kit, which has proved to be a brilliant diversion. Tonight we’re all off to hear GS playing in his school orchestra concert. His instrument is the viola.

Tomorrow is our last full day here before saying farewell on Sunday.

Take care, all. Xxx

So good you’ve spent time with your DS SueD safe journey home.
Have a good holiday Erms.
Thinking of you Grandmabatty.🌹
Enjoy your evening Kitcheners.

Blossoming Fri 17-Mar-23 16:16:55

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. Sunshine and showers today so my walk was cut short. I’ve had a better day energy wise and my back is feeling better. I must resist the temptation to do too much now, I’m not good at pacing myself grin. I’ve done some cleaning in the kitchen, the bits you don’t usually see! There’s a curry in the slow cooker so we can chill later.

Hope you feel better soon Grandmabatty.

A lovely positive post SueD, I hope things continue to go well.

Good news re the pet portraits Soop, please pass on our love and best wishes to Baggs.

Happy Birthday to all celebrating, I’m sure I’ve missed some flowers

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to any Irish grans and Happy St. Gertrude’s Day to any cat lovers!

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 17-Mar-23 16:21:21

St Gertrude’s Day! I’ve never heard of that and I’m a cat lover.

Blossoming Fri 17-Mar-23 16:34:45

Apparently she’s called upon to ward off rats and mice, and is often pictured with a cat.

My kind of Saint! Julian of Norwich is often depicted with a cat.

The GC have been collected, I am curled up on the sofa with my iPad trying to catch up with the kitchen news.

Chinese takeaway for dinner #lazygran (I am still practicing Urmstongan)

kittylester Fri 17-Mar-23 17:02:50

Trying to keep up a little better in this kitchen.

Everyone seems so busy with holidays and moving. Lovely portrait of the gorgeous dog, soop. I'm not surprised the owner is pleased. Please pass on my love to baggs when you see her and gentle hugs sent to minibaggs, too.

We have DD2 and gang here for the weekend. DH is going to the pub for tea on the way to the football with DS1, so I am sitting down conserving my energy before tomorrow. It will be a bit like your tornado, Sue, once they arrive. grin

brook2704 Fri 17-Mar-23 17:10:08

Hoping you feel a bit better very soon grandmabatty, thinking of you and your friend too, sending much ❤️
SueD it’s so lovely that you’ve been able to spend time with your DS, hoping the rest of his treatment goes well and safe journey home. Good luck to your DGS in his school concert too, I bet you’ll be bursting with pride!
Happy Birthday for tomorrow hulahoop - enjoy the celebrations 💐🎂🥂
