Good Morning Everyone,
A nice start to the day here in brackley this morning, dry and not cloudy .
Today ,after some housework I will get ready to get the bus to Bicester for a couple of hours returning home to watch the Giro on TV .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from the South Downs. Rain forecast today.

Yesterday I was fascinated to watch an extremely tame sparrow about a foot away from me pulling at a dandelion that had gone to seed. It was eating every little seed - I decided I am too assiduous in pulling up weeds. I am going to leave the odd dandelion for the bees and birds.

Must take my sewing machine for a service today. I can’t get the tension right.

Dog seems to be calmer this morning🤞. Perhaps we can have our normal relaxed walk.

It looks as if May is going to be very changeable - the ground which is normally bone dry by now is still sticky. I’m still in jumpers and jacket on our morning walk.

Not sure about dinner tonight.

Enjoy your day

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny South Yorkshire where I have been awake for half the night😩. DD and SiL brought me some compost over yesterday so with good luck and a following wind, I should get some gardening done - if I manage to stay awake! I also seem to be cultivating a cold - no doubt acquired from sitting in a packed theatre on Friday night. Hey ho!
Thinking of Grandmabatty’s mum this morning. Hope there is good news.
Have the best day you can folks.

Ashcombe Tue 09-May-23 05:56:38

Good morning from a cloudy Sarthe.

Belated birthday wishes to cornergran. I hope you are looking after yourself, Grandmabatty, whilst ministering to your mother’s needs. What a difficult time for you. 💐

DH is improving in terms of his cough and mowed all the grass yesterday, but I’m still unwell. This cough is really knocking me out. Last night I tried to sleep in the living room for a few hours to avoid disturbing him as he has an early appointment this morning in Le Mans with the rheumatologist regarding his osteoporosis.

Have a good day and all the best to Y6 children and their teachers with Sats this week. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good Morning both and those to come. The sun is just rising into the garden in S Yorks tho not expecting sun all day.

A lot of CFS pain yesterday and twigged back but today is just a meet up for coffee n cake with friend which is nice. Must wrap and post DGC birthday presents there is a rash coming up of them.

Best for all your endeavours today and sympathy for poorlies or worries about family poorlies.

Greyduster Tue 09-May-23 05:58:29

Whitewave there are a lot of very young sparrows about at the moment “learning the ropes” and they don’t seem to have any fear of what’s around them. They’re a joy to watch.

Wyllow3 Tue 09-May-23 05:59:28

Oh, morning you 4 not two..

Good gardening Greyduster may this sun stay.

Good morning from a grey Bristol. It is overcast/wet for the foreseeable future.
I had a mostly quiet day yesterday; I was incredibly tired for some reason; a great lassitude.
The family came to lunch which, was a success - soup and bread. No one tried the brownies, I don’t blame them as they were not to my usual standard. The oven is very odd, although very new, I think I might change it for a fan oven.
DGD and DSiL sorted out Chromecast from my iPad to tv using a dongle purchased by Philip about five years ago.
DD has started taking the very many boxes for DS1 which are filling the house. She has a cellar where she can store them.
A local removal company is collecting the empty boxes; I have to call people about the non-collection of damaged fridge freezer. And yet more phone calls regarding this and that.
If I go out, I shall email the warden to tell her so, in order not to be scolded for daring to leave the flat…😂
May today be gentle with you all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩❤️🦩🦩

Oh yes I bet that was a youngster, although I didn’t notice the yellow at his beak.

Good morning, lots of rain today and much thunder and lightening. The garden is overflowing with greenery and insects as I have ground cover sedum instead of grass and snails are everywhere. It is sodden out there

People are finding they are still in winter SAD mode. It must be very hard to cope without intense hobbies. My day yesterday was mostly spent on spinning and radio-listening and whatsapp with siblings and AC

Highlight was me removing a deep sharp scratch in my new kitchen sink, bar keepers friend did it. The rubbing created black metal patches on a cloth. I think that scratch happened when a le creuset dropped to flat from tilted

It has to be an indoor day again, pottering, re-winding on bobbins and finishing my book. I`ll just hop along and do what the fancy takes me

A good day to everyone and grandmabatty, I hope you are feeling better

Grandmabatty Tue 09-May-23 06:30:41

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and damp. Thank you for the many kind wishes about mum. They are much appreciated.
Yesterday I spent mostly at the hospital. Mum was not very good in the morning and seemed worse in the early evening. The doctor did a full assessment and isn't convinced that she has had a stroke. She does, however, have pneumonia and is on antibiotics and oxygen for that. She feels sore if she is touched and can't walk or stand so that will need investigation but she's being looked after wonderfully.
I have had another very bad night with constant nausea and pain so definitely need to speak to a doctor. If it doesn't rain, it pours! Today I'm looking after the boys and I'll visit mum at night with my daughter. My aunt and uncle will visit late morning. I repeat how grateful I am for the many kind words. Have a good day all.

Grammaretto Tue 09-May-23 06:41:30

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It looks promising today.

My Helpers arrived last night so today I shall give them a list of jobs and show them around. They are French and seem very nice.

I am a bit shocked at your having to email the warden every time you leave the building gMattie! You of all people who has coped magnificently by yourself for so long. However maybe you can ask her for assistance if you need to.

I haven't seen a sparrow in years whitewave. Once so common they are a rarity here.

I hope your DM is ok grandmabatty

My DMiL isn't great but at last a nice OT has visited who has been helpful and kind. This has made up for the many jobsworth rude professionals who have been unhelpful and unkind to my DSisin law who is dealing with her DM.

Have the best day you can everyone.

TopsyIrene06 Tue 09-May-23 06:50:21

GB. Popping in quickly to say I am thinking of you this morning and wish you well. You are going through a very tough time.

Dull here today and hoping that I get the enthusiasm to do the boring stuff.

NanaDana Tue 09-May-23 06:58:11

Good morning from a beautifully sunny bonny Berwick upon Tweed. Looking forward to a pleasant stroll with the pooches along the town walls this morning, with lovely coastal views, followed by a pot of tea and a home-baked scone at one of our favourite watering holes. Hope your day goes well.

grandMattie Tue 09-May-23 07:05:29

batty, you are certainly going through the wringer. All thoughts to you that things go well. 🫂
Gramaretto, I don’t need to mail the warden but I received such a very public telling off the other day, for being out when she called “several times”. I’m going to play her game… 🤣

Marydoll Tue 09-May-23 07:12:01

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 12°C.

GMBatty, you have been in my thoughts. Please try and speak to a GP today, you need to look after yourself too.

We are off to the East Neuk today, to stay in our usual fisherman's cottage. I absolutely love being there, our back garden is the beach!
Instead of our usual gadding about, we have decided to have a gentle time.
I'm having a bad RA flare up, which is makes doing any activity difficult. I have developed nodules on my finger joints and the pain is excruciating, if anything touches them.
I also had to contact my GP for more anti nausea medication, it is prescribed in restricted amounts, I shall probably be subjected to an inquisition.
I am so looking forward to being pamperedby DD and SIL, letting them become the parents and me the child! 😁

I hope you had a lovely day yesterday Corner and TP so lovely to see you popping in.

I phoned to check when my new garden seat is coming, it's today, after we have left. Isn't that that typical? I shall probably come back to find it sitting in the drive!

Have a lovely day all and thinking of those who are poorly.
Thank you to the poster who sent me a lovely PM yesterday, I was quite touched at your comments. That's the best part of GN.

Gingster Tue 09-May-23 07:15:14

Good morning all and it’s damp and grey here in Essex.

Yesterday we visited my db1 and his wife for coffee in the morning. Dh and db had a wander around their huge garden and I chatted to dsil. She has lots of health issues , one thing after another but nothing ever shows up on tests. She says herself ‘it’s all in my mind, but it doesn’t ease the symptoms’.
We get on so well and always enjoy each others company.

This morning I have my play reading group and this afternoon Bridge.
Dh will be home alone (with little pooch) and without a car, but he’s not bothered anyway. He can always get the bus up to town and walk back, if the mood takes him.

GB you’re having a tough time. 💐.

Ash I hope your cough disappears soon. They do seem to hang on. 💐

GM I expect you’ll get into your new way of life after a while.
It s nice to have someone you can call on if in trouble. 👍.

Enjoy your day, those who can, and best wishes to those with trials. 🌸

brook2704 Tue 09-May-23 07:23:39

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a bright and sunny start to the day
Hope you feel a bit better soon Ash and your cough eases
Enjoy your break away Marydoll the cottage sounds really lovely, enjoy being pampered too!
I’ll be pottering in the garden today, doing a bit of washing and then picking up DGD from school and helping out with after school activities.
Thinking of you grandmabatty, hope your mum is comfortable and you feel a bit better soon too, take care
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Morning all from a damp looking West Oxfordshire. I was woken by the morning chorus at 4 am, but managed to get back to sleep. I am staying in Kew next week so as usual will be woken by planes taking off or the tube! I finished an interesting book last night - The Lamplighters - so have visions of lighthouse keepers in my head. Not a busy day planned today but I have to pick up a dress from the Seamstress. She is turning up the hem and shortening the sleeves. Maybe I should have bought another dress! Anyway, I have earmarked this dress to wear to my niece’s wedding in Australia in August. Have a good day everyone. As OH used to say when we were younger - Don’t let the B*****ds get you down.

Pittcity Tue 09-May-23 07:31:21

Good morning from a warm, wet Colchester. The last few nights have been very muggy.
Tuesday is charity shop volunteering day. At last I'll be able to leave my fleece at home but I'll still need a mac.
Love to all 🦩 x

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 09-May-23 07:32:46

Good morning all from Harrogate, cloudy but bright
Sorry you are not feeling well Ashcombe. Hope you feel better soon. You do have a lot of worries just now Grandmabatty, I do hope your DM is better soon.
Yesterday seemed to go quite fast chatting to my school friend and clearing up after Sundays party, putting most of my winter jumpers and shoes away and chatting to my sisters. Today it’s my art club this morning and I’ll take the remaining cakes and biscuits from my party to be finished off. Then hairdresser this afternoon.
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning from down South. Wet, though not raining presently.
I could go out but dont want to.
People coming for the next 3 weekends so I have things to do.

dragonfly46 Tue 09-May-23 07:33:37

Good morning from murky Leicestershire.

Had a lovely long chat with DD yesterday to arrange when we are seeing them next. She has been through so much recently but seems to be coming out the other end.

The saga of the solar panels will no doubt continue today now that the holidays are out of the way. If the weather is fine will go on the neighbourly walk.

So sorry to hear you are struggling GrandmaBatty. I hope things go better for you and your mum today.
Wishing everyone a good day.

BlueBalou Tue 09-May-23 07:39:22

Good morning, it’s a dull wet start here in Wiltshire 🙄
DD and her dog returned home yesterday, it was lovely seeing them.
I need to have a good tidy up today then I have a pedicure booked this afternoon.
Nothing much planned this week and the weather forecast is looking pretty wet so there won’t be much gardening going on.
Have a lovely day x

Beechnut Tue 09-May-23 07:40:56

Good Morning everyone. It’s dull here.

I have a few errands to run, a few things to sort admin wise and a little crafting. I keep thinking about the decorating I’m going to do. Not looking forward to it but I’ve been putting it off long enough.

Have the best day you can all 🌺
