Good morning from Bristol. It is grey and the rain is forecast around midday. I shall have to scamper and put the washing on the line…
Without a trace of my irony, the warden thanked me for letting her know and announced herself for mid morning today. 😂
I walked to the supermarket yesterday, using my birthday trolley. Got a few bits, but the plants I was hoping for were pretty rubbish.
Once again,I was felled by tiredness - emotion and anxiety catching up, I suppose.
Hope you have a wonderful break, Marydoll and trust your coughs are improving, Ash. My prayers and thoughts to those or their kith who are unwell/unhappy.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️🦩

Good morning from the South Downs. May is turning out to be a very wet month. It is a bit like living in Cornwall!

Nothing planned today, might clean some windows, or might not. Need to plant out some more stuff that has been hardening off - dahlia and salvia. I have the entire country’s worth of snails in the garden and they are munching through stuff I’ve never seen them eat before. I don’t use bait, so must pick them iff, then I don’t like killing them - I think I have a hidden Hindu in me as I hate killing anything at all so resort to putting them out into the service road - but I suspect they merely March back again. It is the same with lily beetles - they are beautiful - so I pick them carefully carry them away and release them I’m sure they get back quicker than I do.

Saw a couple of parakeets yesterday flying by, it is the first time I’ve seen them in this part of the country, although I think they’ve been around for a year or so - strong flyers.

mick you will be able to get to the hospital blindfolded soon🙂

Vegetable spring stew for supper.

Have a good day peeps.

Ashcombe Wed 10-May-23 06:26:08

Good morning from a dull part of La Sarthe.

Good luck at the hospital, Mick.

Your post made me smile, Whitewavemark2, imagining those beetles returning to your garden more quickly than you!

I expect you'll feel more relaxed once you've had the chance to meet the Warden properly, grandMattie. It's good to be finding your way around the locality and I imagine a trolley would be most useful.

Thanks to all for your kindly concern. I'm pleased to report that our coughs are less troublesome today. Yesterday I felt very unwell and failed to eat much so 4.00 a.m. saw me tucking into cereal!

Our weather is most disappointing with little improvement expected for the rest of our stay here. Never mind. We have Perdito, the latest cat which joined us unexpectedly in January, for entertainment. We call him Perry for short and he's proving to be quite a character.

Happy hump day, everyone!

karmalady Wed 10-May-23 06:45:20

Good morning from a very sodden s somerset

I have never seen so many snails as this week, they have become so brazen, sliding up to the tops of plant stalks in broad daylight, slithering all over the ground and up walls. Oh well I am waiting for natural selection to take place and no doubt this will help the snail eaters, especially the slow worms that used to live here.

I have beans and courgettes to sow and the weather is not yet right. The old country folk had it right ne`er cast a clout etc

No set plans, not even a bus ride to Wells market, I don`t want to get soaked

A good day to everyone

Jaxjacky Wed 10-May-23 06:54:33

Morning from S Hants, bright and dry, heating has come on though.
You need a JR loyalty card Mick.
Glad you’re both improving Ash, cereal snacking is a good sign!
It is a wet and cool Spring WW, everything in the garden here is catching up.
I might get some weeding done today, the weather doesn’t hold them back, a walk and some admin.
Enjoy your day 🦩🦩

Good morning everyone from the east coast of Fife where the birds are singing.

It’s going to rain today and I’m glad because the garden will get a soaking.

I had a wonderful day yesterday all my plans went to fruition those around me have helped me in all sorts of way

I’m blessed with the friends I’ve got.

Thinking of those less fortunate

Marydoll Wed 10-May-23 07:09:47

God morning all from a bright East Neuk, where its 8°C.
We are well settled in!

Yesterday, we were almost at our destination, when I realised my phone was on silent and I had a series of missed calls from the surgery.
It seems I must have a medication review, because I requested anti nausea tablets. Fair enough, but I must phone at 8am and wait in the queue to request an appointment!
I explained I was away from home and would do it on Monday. But it is only a ten minute phone call, said the receptionist. I responded, that in the past, on some occasions I have waited all day for similar calls. It would spoil everyone's day, if I couldn't go out. We are going to StAndrew's on the bus, can you imagine my medical problems, being discussed for all to hear!!
Despite my complaints, I means I will get to speak to an actual GP , I hope he has all day! I will ask they can possibly make life a bit more tolerable!

We had a lovely day yesterday, the sun shone and we didn't need jackets. It's to be slightly cooler today and rain is expected later.
The highlight was everyone helped me collect sea glass from the beach behind the cottage, I now have a fair stash!
I have some photos, one of a phone box, which has been turned into a mini library!
I can't get them to send from my phone

We are off to St Andrew's on the bus, because the DH and SIL want a pint in their favourite pub, DD drove the last time and didn't like the road and as I'm unfamiliar with DH'S big car, I certainly don't want to drive on twisty country roads.
DD bless her has just brought me a cuppa, 🥰, I have had a bad night painwise. I could get used to this pampering, she is now making a full Scottish breakfast.

Think of all with worries and a special shout out for my wee pal, * GrandmaBatty*, I hope you had a better day yesterday and good luck, Mick. Good to hear you getting out and about, GM.

Have a good day, folks.

Grandmabatty Wed 10-May-23 07:11:43

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and there are dark clouds overhead. Thank you to all for your concerns, kind words and messages regarding mum and me. I haven't got a doctor's appointment yet but will phone today. However I had a good night with no sickness and I slept well. There's little change in mum. She was very agitated last night and obviously in pain but settled with pain medication after a while. My daughter came to manicure her nails and that seemed to please her. Today I'll head over this morning and then go back early evening.
Mick I hope the appointment goes well today. Grandmattie it's no surprise that you are exhausted. Take things easy. Ash I hope you both feel better soon. It's a pity your weather hasn't been great. Whitewave and Karma I absolutely loathe slugs and snails. I have a real phobia of them. I once tore a ligament in my ankle avoiding one on a path.
Have a good day all.

Pittcity Wed 10-May-23 07:12:42

Good morning from sunny Colchester. The ground is wet from overnight rain and more is forecast on and off all day. It is very muggy...yuk.
Usual Wednesday coffee meetup in the city centre this morning. Changing my hot latte for an iced one I think.
Love to all 🦩 x

Grandmabatty Wed 10-May-23 07:13:47

Thank you Marydoll Enjoy St Andrews. Its been a while since I was there, but I'm very fond of it.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 10-May-23 07:15:25

Morning all

Hope that your appointment goes well Mick

grandMattie be gentle on yourself and maybe slow down and rest for a while. You have been through a roller coaster of emotions the last 18 months and it sounds as if your body and mind need a rest.

Whitewave it’s definitely snails all you can eat buffet in my garden at the moment 🤣🐌🐌🐌

Gym this morning and then off to Sainsbury’s as my cupboards and fridge have been emptied by the GC.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 10-May-23 07:17:27

Good morning from a soon to be sunny Oxfordshire 🤞
Dog day today and photographing some jigsaws ready for MissOops to sell and that’s my day.
I’ve downloaded/Borrowed some free books from Amazon that I return just like a lending library. So this afternoon I can sit and read.
Have a good day everyone, happy holidays to those who are away. Mick good luck with the appointment, I dread to think how long your bus rides take to the JR. It can take us well over an hour to get there, but on a Sunday it’s only 25 minutes.
Hugs for those who aren’t so chipper.

Wyllow3 Wed 10-May-23 07:21:21

Morning from a lovey sunny S Yorks.

I'm off to the hospital later for a pre-op assessment on the Alien Lump (my name for it) on my arm. Its quite a way in the car so was busy printing google maps yesterday instead of a £££ taxi Just getting used to using google maps as satnav but prefer the old fashioned way.

Yesterday I painted my front doorstep it looks spiffing now.

Bests for appointments, gardens, family and poorlies.

Mizuna Wed 10-May-23 07:23:29

Good morning from a bright south Cornwall following a day of back to back thunderstorms and gales yesterday. My daughter-in-law is coming for lunch today. We will hopefully problem-solve concreting issues as a planter I made last week fell apart yesterday. I think I need stronger cement.

dragonfly46 Wed 10-May-23 07:24:24

Good morning from a bright sunny Leicestershire.

Meeting friends for coffee this morning and hoping the rain holds off as the gardener is coming. Hope she doesn’t bang her head on the scaffolding!

Pleased you are feeling a little better Grandmabatty.
Wishing every one a good day and the poorly ones continue to improve.

cornergran Wed 10-May-23 07:30:49

Morning Mick, morning All. Light cloud over our corner of Somerset.

Missed the storms yesterday but goodness some heavy showers in the afternoon. Pressing on with preparations in readiness for work to begin at 8am tomorrow. Yikes. Our development Area Manager is calling for a chat and cuppa this afternoon, she’s good company and fortunately understands we don’t usually live in total havoc.

Sounds as if your body is advising rest grandmattie. Hope the chat will be a friendly one. We always knew when our two were getting over illness ash by the cereal crumbs appearing overnight. Good luck today mick, wyllow and all with medical appointments. Pleased you had a better night, grandmab, hope the same for your mum.

Take care everyone. Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

baubles Wed 10-May-23 07:31:56

Good morning all from cloudy South Lanarkshire.

Hope your appointment goes smoothly Mick.

Have a wonderful time marydoll.

Glad you had a better night Grandmab.

I’m back to work today and I’m a bit groggy after a night filled with weird dreams. I’m hoping the dream hangover doesn’t last.

Have the best possible day everyone.

kittylester Wed 10-May-23 07:36:35

Good morning all from, as dragonfly says a bright sunny Leicestershire. Although, in my bit, there are some slightly ominous looking clouds.

Today is an admin sort of day - can anyone explain why I never quite clear the list?

Juliee Wed 10-May-23 07:38:41

Good morning all from Reigate! I am staying here with my poorly friend. I am looking for a place to buy in the UK so googling to see what towns/cities are friendly to older singles. New town- new start!

Greyduster Wed 10-May-23 07:43:35

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny South Yorkshire. I spent more time than was warranted yesterday planting a large rose in a large pot yesterday and afterwards I was seriously tired (having been tired to start with!) so I had a nap! I must be getting old😁! Writers group at the library this afternoon and a bit of shopping afterwards.
Whitewave we have quite an established flock of parakeets in one of our local parks - they nest in holes in the trees. They are quite entertaining but I worry about their impact on other birds now that their numbers are growing.
Have the best day you can folks.

BlueBalou Wed 10-May-23 07:44:57

Good morning from soggy Wiltshire although it’s looking like the sun’s attempting to come out 🤞🏻
Yesterday I gave the house a good clean and tidy, did some washing and attempted to work out where I’d got to in a knitting pattern…without success. I may ask my friend who’s a very keen and experienced knitter later.
Still hoping for a sunnier day x

Marydoll Wed 10-May-23 07:47:53

The phone box and our back garden.

brook2704 Wed 10-May-23 07:49:49

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve both blue and grey sky, yesterday we had sunshine and showers, probably the same today
Hope all goes well with your appointments today mick and wyllow
All busy day ahead, after we’ve dropped DGD off at school I’m going to the gym for the morning - hard work but I’m always pleased when it’s over. After that I’ll be going to Starbucks for lunch and a good catch up with my friend, finally a trip to Tesco to round the day off!
Enjoy St Andrews marydoll and the bus trip
Lovely picture greyduster - no parakeets up here
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

ginny Wed 10-May-23 07:51:29

Good morning. It seems to be brightening here in N. Bucks at the moment.
A morning of pottering for me and then sewing group at my house this afternoon.
Online drawing class this evening.
Wishing all a good day.
