I would have to say Keeping Up Appearances especially when Hyacinth's behaviour becomes extreme and her face starts to twitch and how the other characters react towards her.

Ever decreasing Circles. Loved Martin. Our DD often calls us Howard and Hilda !

Grandma70s Wed 10-May-23 11:27:58

Impossible to pick a favourite. I love them all. Outnumbered and Keeping Up Appearances would be strong contenders. I recently watched every episode of the latter on iPlayer.

Mum.

Dinner Ladies
Butterflies
Bread

All 3 were visual “sound tracks” to my life during the busy years (and I still watch them on DVD now).

Ooh, I forgot about Yes Minister and Drop the Dead Donkey, used to love those..
I have listened to the radio version of Yes Minister onBBC sounds several times over. Still enjoyable.

All of the above but also Get some in, The Irish RM. Aint half hot Mum, Desmonds,In loving memory, Hallelujah and so many more. Great days when T.V was worth watching. Does anyone remember a 1980s sitcom about a painter and decorator, i can't for the life of me remember the name.

Llamedos13 Wed 10-May-23 12:44:29

For me the funniest ever was Father Ted.

Theexwife Wed 10-May-23 12:45:20

Whatever happened to the likely lads, just re-watched it.
Two Doors Down

grannypiper Wed 10-May-23 12:54:43

Thank you Chardy I have been racking my brain cell for that.

I loved lots of these. Also The Office and League of Gentlemen. More recently, This Country and The Detectorists.

My favourite of recent years has been Motherland. I see all those characters at the school gate when I pick up the grandsons. grin

Only Fools and Horses
and a Scottish comedy called Still Game that many on here may not have seen .

I love Still Game, it my number one now, I love the characters, we've watched it so much we can talk along with it grin
This Country is very clever. I love all the old ones mentioned already.

I discovered David Mitchell’s Outsiders on Dave the other night ( with catchup not working I was trawling the channels). Similar to Taskmaster which I’ve never really latched onto. I loved it. I struggle to watch anything with Victoria Wood in. Everything she did was so brilliant but it still upsets me that she died so young. I love Ever Decreasing Circles, Dad’s Army and have been watching repeats of Keeping Up Appearances which I didn’t like back in the day but now like. I’ve never really watched Only Fools and Horses. Recently I’ve loved Motherland.

Redrobin51 Wed 10-May-23 14:04:50

Ever Decreasing Circles
The Likely Lads
Butterflies
These are in no particular order.

DanniRae Wed 10-May-23 14:15:13

Oh I forgot "Man about the House" and "Ever Decreasing Circles" .... loved them both way back when!

More recently "The Office" (especially the Christmas Special where Tim and Dawn finally get together smile) and "Car Share" (especially when the two main characters finally get together smile)

I've recently binge watched Rev on BBC iPlayer. It was inspired by the career of the Rev Richard Coles. It is very well written and has an excellent cast including Tom Hollander, Olivia Colman and Miles Jupp. It centres round an inner city church which is struggling to survive. There are excellent cameos by Ralph Fiennes, Alexander Armstrong, Liam Neeson and others. Some themes are dark, but this emphasises the humour when it breaks through.

bmacca Wed 10-May-23 14:24:52

My favourites are Father Ted and Derry Girls.
Currently watching Colin from Accounts which I really like too

GrannyGravy13 Wed 10-May-23 14:28:24

Can I add Outnumbered to my list, there were times when our children were at home that I felt like the Mum 🤣

NotAGran55 Wed 10-May-23 15:18:13

The Royle Family and The Office are joint first.
The Inbetweeners next, along with Fawlty Towers.

Forsythia Wed 10-May-23 15:22:26

One door in the Grave, Keeping up Appearances, I always look for them on freeview channels. Also Fawlty Towers.

Forsythia Wed 10-May-23 15:23:10

Foot not door 😂

Juggernaut Wed 10-May-23 15:36:31

Dinner Ladies, I was such a fan that DS bought me the DVD set when it first appeared.
I've watched all episodes so often that I know every line, by every character, and still laugh until I'm helpless!
Who could ever forget "You slimy, two faced flatulating bumhole"!
God, I miss VW!
Also, Father Ted, which DH doesn't find funny at all!

AGAA4 Wed 10-May-23 15:42:34

Only Fools and Horses
Yes Minister
Vicar of Dibley
Butterflies (all the cars reversing out at speed in the morning)
