Nope. Absolute bare minimum for me. I follow my beloved Mother's advice (embarrassed plea?!) when she suggested that tidieness 'gives the impression of being clean'. I guess she gave up in despair, but very loving despair.

Housework
(106 Posts)Am I the only one out there that actually enjoys housework, get up at around 7.30am, take my dog out, have breakfast and off I go, music on, vacuum in hand I’m a real Freddie Mercury minus the pvc mini skirt, Anyone else love it.
I hate it, but I like it clean and tidy so I’ve forced myself into a routine. It has to be done by 10am at the latest so I can get on with stuff I want to do.
My mother lived in a show home. The odd time we used the living room, pillows had to be plumped up and everything left tidy and neat before we went to bed. She preferred to stay in the kitchen to keep the other 3 rooms in tip-top condition.
I was destined for better things, I am not sure what yet so I employ a cleaner.
Strangely I do not mind cleaning the loo or ceramic floors and I appear to wash clothes for most of my county.
I can spend all day doing housework, but no-
where ever seems to look clean and tidy, I have no routine just drift about and get easily distracted, I can start tidying in one room, find something that needs to go upstairs, then whilst I'm upstairs do a couple of bits up there ,I just go round and round in circles, I hate housework and get so frustrated with myself! The other day I cleaned SOME of the bathroom, (not the mirrors) cleaned my dressing table mirrors (not dusting the stuff on it) and hoovered the hallway, so work done but not one room finished!

Oh that is me too! I cleaned the bathroom from top to bottom a few days ago but it’s now clean but a complete mess. Then I cleaned the windows upstairs as I’m having them painted in a few weeks and broke one of the windows when I opened it to clean the paintwork: the hinge snapped. I seem to take one step forward and three steps back….I’m now having to chase up window repairers…
I had a miserable upbringing with a mother that resented cooking and cleaning for us.
By the time I was 11 I was like Cinderella, I did most of the housework and a lot of the cooking.
I didn’t mind at the time because it gave me a role and some control.
I still find housework cathartic.
I’m not obsessive but particular!
I find it so boring, it is the repetitiveness of it I cannot stand. There is always something more interesting to do.
I find it tedious, but I love a clean and tidy home. No clutter.
I do it because it has to be done, I certainly don't enjoy it.
My mother loved it and would cheerfully clean windows all day.
One of my DDs says the larger the house the less you have to clean it as no one expects it to be spick and span.
When we had a cleaner I used to tidy up before they came, I am a tidy person.
Love cooking, hate housework!
I don’t have a daily timetable for housework but I do a bit most days.
I do like a clean, tidy home but I take a lot of short cuts to get it that way.
Hate it apart from cleaning bathroom and ironing.
I love to cook, hate to iron - won't unless wrinkles are that bad.
I keep the house tidy between times - for the cleaners - so they can kick in - we'd live in a pile of dog fur if I didn't hoover daily.

That’s just the way I am. It’s hopeless, I see a magazine I’ve left lying about and sit down to read it rather than throw it or tidy it away. In my house it seems there’s a place for everything and everything is out of place! There never seems to be a clear surface. I just wish the thought of housework motivated me.
I do it because I like a clean and tidy home . I hate mess and clutter . I certainly don’t enjoy cleaning, housework or ironing, not do I have a timetable like a few of my friends. Because I have a dog I hoover daily due to his fur and I’m constantly moping the kitchen floor .
I am a bit ocd in that I like the house and kitchen to be tidy before I go to bed . If we’ve had people over . I do the lion s share before I go to bed . I hate coming down to a mess and you can’t find the kettle amidst dirty glasses and crockery .
I don’t have a set regime unlike my DM and DGM who ‘went through the house’ every Wednesday - Monday being washing and ironing day.
What happens here, is that if I find myself in a room, have an hour to spare, I end up giving it a good clean. I like to tidy up before I go to bed, because I hate to come downstairs to a mess. That’s something I got my DDs doing, because they’ve to be up and out first thing.
Think it was Rose McCauley who said;
Better a house unkept than a life unlived.
That’s my excuse anyhow.
Loathe and detest housework 🤦♀️
I was born to have servants, I’m not sure what went wrong..😬
“There was a poor woman who always was tired
She lived in a house where help was not hired
Her last words on earth were “dear friends I am going, where nothing ain’t done, nor sweeping nor sewing….
But everything there will fit in with my wishes
For where they don’t eat there’s no washing of dishes…
Don’t mourn for me now, don’t mourn for me never….
I’m going to do nothing forever and ever….”
….taken from a gravestone somewhere….thought I might use it myself!
I loathe and despise housework with an absolute passion. I can think of no greater waste of my time and abilities. Thats why I have a cleaner.
I can’t Hoover it’s a struggle these days but I like to keep the house clean and tidy but I’m not a stickler for absolute neatness.
We have a dog we only live over the road from woods so she can get pretty muddy. I do like to get the washing sorted I only do small washes I don’t fill the machine. I try my best to iron as little as possible though. I clean the floor every day as I am in and out of the garden now potting and planting with the dog at my heels.
I love planning meals I never get bored everything is cooked or baked by me. My conversation with dh this afternoon was what soups I am making for lunches this week. It’s what I enjoy most apart from my family of course.
Dull women keep immaculate homes.
biglouis - I’m certainly not dull - the rest follows.
I don't mind it - when it is worth it
For me, it is the futility of it - it takes me 30 min, very rewarding and my kids mess it up in 1 minute again

Bit of a sweeping statement.
Good job that cleaning is one of your cleaner’s ‘abilities’ though, or you would be stuck with it.
