I've been with the same broker for 30 years. When the renewal comes in I ring 3 other providers for quotes and always find cheaper. I then ring my broker and tell them the cheapest quote and who it's with. They have always matched this cheapest quote.
I include home assistance, (better than roadside), legal expenses, lost keys. Fully comp with no claims bonus. Low mileage of 5000. My husband is a named driver on my insurance which funnily adds £25 whereas I am a named driver on his insurance and this reduces his insurance by £25.
I'd never insure only third party. It's not much cheaper.
I don't do online as if I need help I want to be able to go and speak face to face across a desk.
There does seem to be some loyalty with the broker, my house buildings and contents is with them. I do the same when renewing the house insurance. On occasion they have even dropped their admin fee to beat my cheapest other quote.
For information I drive a 7 year old Toyota Yaris 1300cc. Insurance is £340.
Also car insurance, I understand, is more expensive here in NI because our personal injury pay out is higher than on mainland UK.
